That's a long time to have to wait for test results Gwyn ,our doctors only ring if they have any concerns ,they say no need to ring us well ring you .
I have to go in and make an appointment for the yearly check on my kidney disease, blood pressure and diabetes, I might as well go in and make one as I need a urine bottle.

Ann has OH tried laying with a pillow between his knees in bed ,Colin finds it helps his back and hips .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Jan 2025 20:49

I sleep with a wheat bag between my knees and that help sometimes I use a pillow but I only lay on my right side all night, have done for years now. I must admit my toes have been acheing badly lately.

It was a paving slab I had to lift to put some gravely stuff underneath but the chickens thought it was a great thing as they spied worms and they kept getting in the way. They are all tucked up tonight in a nice clean house with plenty of woodshavings on the floor. They've been walking around with platform soles on lately with all the mud in the run.

Good morning all
Not nearly so frosty this morning, no fog and it’s 0 degrees. It’s supposed to reach 5 degrees this afternoon. We haven’t seen the temperature that high for a few days. I haven’t got any plans today, just boring washing and h/w.

Mandy I have posted that recipe to you.

Morning all,

No frost here this morning we have sunshine again but it's still quite cold ,we should get to 5 or 6 degrees today .

Oh thank you Vera you shouldn't have gone out in the cold to post it anytime would have done but its very kind of you.

Morning all,

Looks as though it may be another nice day today. Its 6 degrees but pc says it feels like -1. It quite bright but not as nice as yesterday as there are grey clouds to the north today.

Just adjusted my Asda order and thiungs keep going up at a fast rate. Butter was £2 for ages now it £2.40 so what the excuse now I wonder? They've blamed it on the war, they blamed it on the price of deisel and petrol going up, so whats the excuse now?

AnninGlos Report 13 Jan 2025 09:16

Good morning all 5 degrees here and sunny so far, must be summer!!

Washing in but nothing else planned. although I should get a load of finished books back to Irene, probably do that later.
So just a couple of letters to write to people I heard from at Christmas who are unwell, maybe make some cards as well I will see

Morning All,

I slept well last night and no frost here either and there was a pretty pink sky earlier, but that's not a good sign is it.........shepherd's warning.

I'll suggest trying a pillow like that Mandy, but I think it's head and neck that hurt at night and his neck, back and more his lower ribs in the day. (he's not good with knowing what is where in his body! lol. His x-ray showed several areas of his back affected which was no surprise as he's always had back trouble since he dug a tree out before he met me. He's off to a meeting shortly, only a stone's throw from here and shouldn't take long, but he's taken a bag with the minimum to carry instead of his heavy briefcase, so that's good. He's a devil for pushing on regardless.

I'm off to the shop and then chemist for my meds next. I expect it will be busy now they shut on Saturdays. I was reading that more are limiting their hours now so there's probably no point thinking of going elsewhere!

MillymollyAmanda Report 13 Jan 2025 09:46

Ann would one of those over the head shoulder bags be better for OH carrying a bag can pull the shoulder down which wouldn't help the neck ,lots of men have those types of bag now .
Just ordered a load of wood for Saturday, son and family will soon get that round for us Lewis loves helping and stacking is his favourite job .

We have to go out later to get our tablets they should be ready as I put the scripts in a fortnight ago .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Jan 2025 11:26

I hope you all get your scripts and nothing is missing as is sometimes the case.

When I did my back in at 21 the doctor told me to sleep with a pillow under my knees. I always used to sleep on my back so it did help. I think the mens shoulder bag is a good idea and that may help with his neck or it could just make it worse??? I do hope he can get some comfort soon Annx.

My tummy just gave the most long rumble so I think I better get something to eat. Not had anything yet but a coffee.

AnninGlos Report 13 Jan 2025 11:44

Just taken 8 books back to Irene. It was difficult to get them in her small porch as somebody had wedged a large duvet in a polythene bag into the book box and somebody else (or the same person had filled the other side of the porch with jam jars. Irene is obviously out Managed to get them in anyway.

Annx Report 13 Jan 2025 12:26

Well it was chaos at the big island round the corner on the main road as all the traffic lights were down. They'd wheeled some short temporary ones in but I don't think they were timed like the big ones, so there were big queues. There's one item owing on my script, so another trip back for that. They said it would be there this afternoon. No wonder they don't make your prescriptions up ready anymore as they don't seem to keep as much stock now and then there's the shortages of some things. On the way home as I usually do I came through the village and past mum and dad'd old house and the bungalow next door both of which are being renovated. It was a mistake today as there were signs up closing the road off through the village for some reason, so I had to turn round and come back the way I went.

I can just imagine the chickens' excitement when they saw the worms Mel. I bet they thought you were finding them especially for them. I've noticed how the prices go up and down with Asda too, sometimes by as much as a pound on the Actimel drinks.

I was looking at the 'manbags' online for OH a few weeks ago and we are going to look at some, as some of the leather ones might be heavy or hard to get to all the bits and pieces he carries. I did suggest a wheeled case like I used at work for visits, but he wasn't keen on those and I can imagine him crashing into everything with one!

It sounds like Irene will need to be a mountain goat to get through the donations in her porch AnnG. I have another wash on the go now.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Jan 2025 12:43

Irene will be ok her front door is clear. I am not sure that she actually takes duvets, I know she doesn't take pillows but does take blankets. I imagine the homeless place would be able to use the duvet. It looked clean from what I could see.

I am just making some soup for lunch. carrot. leek and butternut squash, not sure what that will taste like although carrot and squash was nice last week.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Jan 2025 13:17

Not an egg in site this morning after me cleaning them all out yesterday I thought I may have at least one but no they have just been in the nest box and had a shavings bath instead. I nearly got stuck in the mud and the paving slab is still wobberly so that needs more seeing to. Its absolutely bitter out there today so nothing being done out there today.

Think I'll have some toast and something.

We couldn't park in town to call at boots on the way out so went on to QD to get a new padlock for the lean-to on the side of the shed ,Colin did oil the old padlock on there but I think the water has got in so we got a new one this one has a little bit you can clip over the key hole ,we have one like that on the wood shed ,I called and got a card for Colins sisters 80th birthday on Friday, she's having a drop in between 10.30 and 3 o'clock for a coffee and cake then celebrating with family over the weekend.
We then went on to tesco for some money from the hole in the wall it wouldn't let told me to contact my card supplier ,I tried it last week but it did the same yet its OK when I shop and swipe ,looks like I need a new card .
I had a look in bonmarche and bought a new top in the sale for 9 pound ,half price , i bought a size smaller and it fits :-D so I've gone down another size so pleased about that, called and got petrol came back through town and there was a space so nipped in that and got all the tablets in boots ,so a good morning .

Ann the canvas man bags would be lighter the leather ones look nice but they would be heavy before you load it up .

Anng was that a book swap at Irene's or just a drop off of books .

Mel the naughty chickens no eggs and after you finding them those lovely worms for them .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Jan 2025 14:42

They had a good time out on the bit of grass outside their run yesterday too and this mroning when I went round to feed them.I just watched a Sherlock Holmes thing on the tv and it was one with David Burke as Watson. Did you know that he is the father of Tom Burke (Strike) and that his mother was also in Strike, Anne Calder-Marshall. His godfather was Alan Rickman.

Mandy the book stall is only once a month. the books I dropped off were ones I have read since the beginning of December. Mostly read at daughters when we were in a lot in the wet weather. Next book stall is 7th Februsry But I still have quite a few unread here.
I read 95 books last year. Mostly acquired at Irene's

Oh I see Anng ,is daughter a reader do you swap books or does she like different authors to you.

Well the sun disappeared after lunch and it got quite dark early ,I always go up and close all the curtains as it helps to keep the heat in .

Yes both daughter and son in law read Mostly daughter and I like the same books and strangely SiL and I read some books the same we both like James Patterson and Lee Child’s and others similar but daughter doesn’t. I mostly read paperbacks but also read Kkndle books and our libraries are shareddaughter prefers to read the Kindle books these days so not many opportunities to exchange actual books. But I do sometimes swop with SiL

Well done on dropping another dress size Mandy. I have been cutting back the past week and hope to lose some again. I must look at the Bonne Marche sale as I like some of their tops. Edinburgh Mill have a sale on too. That's a nuisance about your card. Have you tried it in a different ATM to see if it works? If you've already tried it a couple of times it might get swallowed though!

OH has had to cancel his Physio appointment in the morning as he has Iritis in his eye now that he's had one or two times before since I've known him and they tell him each time to go to Eye Casualty, so that's where we'll be heading in the morning to drop him off to get there for 8.00 am when they open! Hopefully he won't be as long then if he's one of the first. I'll come home and he'll phone me when he's ready to pick up again. He usually has to have steroid eye drops so that will be another job for me putting them in. I don't seem to be able to get started on much lately but I did clean the hob and microwave. I think he will cancel going to his meeting tomorrow night as it's a long way and driving on the dark country roads or writing notes won't be good after those strong eyedrops they will have to use to see in his eyes properly.

good morning all very dark here this morning but dry, no frost and 5 degrees. Hair appointment at 12 otherwise nothing planned. Just hoping it doesn't rain.

Ann, that is a nuisance that your OH has to cancel his appointment. He seems to be getting a lot of problems at the moment doesn't he? Hope he got an appointment OK.
