Posties been and no they can't find the label so I rebooked it for tomorrow. What a faff........it should have gone on Friday.

AnninGlos Report 28 Jan 2025 12:51

What about the payment, did they refund the first one Mel?
Bins have been emptied I noticed that the bin man took next doors bin round the side of his house so he must have applied to have that done. It would not occur to him to ask any of us, he is so independant.
Pleased you have the TV back, you don't need that problem at this time do you. At least G can take a stronger pain killer sometimes, sleep is the best thing for him. Has he had a scan done on his back, I can't remember now.

Afternoon all,

Raining here and the sky is very grey but we have had the odd peep of the sun but it's very chilly out ,we went shopping and I went into Timpsons little cabin outside Tesco's and had my photo done for my driving licence so just got to fill the paper in and send in my birth cert and marriage cert and get someone to sign the back of the photo and get it in the post .

Oh Ann all these troubles OH is getting ,toothache and now his eye getting sore again ,I hope these things soon ease for him how much can one person take I do feel for him .
Its good that the stronger pain killers helped him to get a slightly better night's sleep.

Anng that was kind of Cynth to put your bin out ,our binmen are here very early about 6.30 in the morning but it is a job to know what to do when it's so windy as they soon go over in the wind ,I saw the other day where someone had held their bin shut with one of those stretchy bungee straps which I thought was a good idea when in thd garden but no good when it needs emptying as the bungee would go with the bin .

Mel that was good you managed to speak to the doctor and she could put your mind to rest ,that's good too that you've sorted the label ouf with the postman have you got to pay again for it .
There's a programme on Sunday Miss Austin that you might enjoy a historical drama ,bbc 1 five past nine .

I have managed to read your posts but this will be another quick one from me.

Your poor OH is really going through it Annx and so are you. Thinking of you both <3

How can it be 4 years since you sadly lost T (and I lost my brother) AnnG? Tomorrow won't be an easy day for you but remember all those happy times you spent together and the love you shared.

We are leaving home at 8.15 am tomorrow to go to my daughter's. We'll probably get there about 9 but have left extra time in case of delays. The hearse leaves at 9.45, service is at 10.30, woodland burial at midday and wake/reception from 1 pm till whenever. We are staying at daughter's overnight so OH doesn't have to drive home after dark.

I have a Tesco delivery between 7 and 8 pm tonight, later than I like but all I could get before the weekend. No subs so that is good.

I won't be on the thread tomorrow and I'm not sure about Thursday so I hope you all have a good couple of days.

Annx Report 28 Jan 2025 20:02

Thank you everyone, he's been a bit better today with less pain and his eye has stopped hurting so we think he might have just rubbed it. The hospital rang him this morning and discussed everything with him and the way forward. Can you believe his cholesterol was only 3.2! Mine's never been that low. The chemist had the tablets so that was good and I took him to Waterstones to collect a book he'd ordered, so he was pleased with that.

I hope you have a good journey tomorrow Vera and it is nice you can stay overnight with your daughter, as it will be an emotional day and your company will be good for her. You and AnnG both have sad memories this time of the year.

Yes he does love his work Mel, and I think he will keep the council work as they are expected to follow his advice, so I think he will keep that, as some is online meetings and there are no reports to write after. It is the school work that takes so much time. Meetings are longer if they don't stay on track and there is writing up after, and they lose things he sends.....better stop there!

A shame about your parcel saga Mel, but hopefully it will soon be sorted now. It's good you had a chat with your doctor and she put your mind at rest. Different brands of tablets can have different fillers and they don't all suit everyone, so that may be the case with you. I seem to have a variety of brands, much more than years ago.

AnnG I think they told him to try physio and they will do a scan then if there's no improvement.

I know Mandy and he had to have that colonoscopy at the start of it as well. He's a bit more cheerful today though and managed a wisecrack. The lady who rang him this morning said he needs to take more of the painkillers as well. He's having some tonight, so I hope he has another better sleep. He's got 4 pillows now so he can keep more upright which he says hurts less. I think his friend calling to see him tomorrow will be good. It will all be football talk, so I shall staying here and do some admin. I might like that prog too, so I'll look it up.

AnninGlos Report 28 Jan 2025 20:46

Vera I hope all goes well tomorrow and that it stays dry for the burial. Future years this time of year will be even more sad for you.
In some ways it doesn’t seem that I have been alone for four years, in others it seems for ever.
I can honestly say there are very few days I don’t think of him.
Have a safe journey.

Ann I imagine G is so good at his schools job that they put more on him all the time. The old thing ‘if you want a job done ask a busy person’. He must learn to say no.

Vera I hope all goes well tomorrow and you have a safe journey to your daughters .

Ann it's good OH has plenty of books to read while he is recovering , yes keep up with the painkillers having them regularly they work better .
I use to use a spare duvet rolled up under my pillows as extra support when I had a bad back .

I hope everythinng goes off as planned Vera and safe journey to your daughters. We will all be thinking of you at this sad time. <3 <3

I had no subs today on the shopping either. It was Dan the driver I like and I hav'nt seen him since well before Christmas. He is now a dad and showed me pics of the new baby Rory. I gave him a card for the baby but I could'nt put anything in it as I had no money in the house. That what happens when you send the parcels by the Royal Mail as I don't get to the post van to draw any money out. I shall have to make a special trip as I like to have something to use if I need to.

Forgot to post this!!!!!!!!

Afternoon all ,

It's been a sunny morning but the sky has now turned really black and looks more like rain .

Thinking of Vera and family and sending love as they say their goodbyes to their loved one .

Sending you love to you too today Anng I can't believe it's four years .

Ann hope you and OH have managed to get a better night and that the painkillers are helping to ease the pain .

I don't seem to have the get up and go today ,there's lots of jobs I could be doing but I just can't get going to do any ,I did wipe the windowsills down outside as they were dusty and gritty but it was cold so I didn't hang about out there for long .
Colin went out and chopped a few sticks but even he said its chilly out and he doesn't usually feel the cold .
The fies lit now and I think I will do a bit of knitting I have the doll to finish for sil .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Jan 2025 14:22

Don't forget we will want to see the dolls whhen its finished Mandy.

I have througherly leaned the sink this morning and have made sausage rolls which are now in the oven.
Stu rang to ask if I was coming to dinner tonight and I said yes so I shall take a few sausage rolls with me for him and James. He's doing his famous chicken in sauce with pots and veg its something I like.

Been dull all morning and is still dull now but the winds dropped and its now 6 degrees.

I was gooing to make a caketoo as I had found two more eggs in the chicken house and they were a bit muddy. Brought tthem in nad cleaned them off and thought I will use those. Did the washing up and promptly knock one and it fell on tthe floor and broke. I was so cross I them had tto clean the carpet and get the rest of the egg in the microwave and cook it foor the birds. I used the other one to wash the sausage rolls with but there's a lot of it over some I may make a bit of cake with that.

Annx Report 29 Jan 2025 18:26

Afternoon All,

Quite a chilly day here despite the sunshine.

It must be hard not to be sad on days like this AnnG and there will always be the memory, but maybe as time goes by it will become a little easier. <3 I can't believe it's been 4 years either. You are right about OH! Is your desktop ok now? Our door is still playing up as well so I make sure I have a backdoor and gate key in my bag, just in case. I need to rebook the engineer to look at it yet again.

I've been thinking of Vera and her family too on such a sad day for them. <3

OH slept a bit better again last night and I did. I woke from some sort of dream that something had happened and lay a few minutes till I realised it was a dream. OH was a bit worried about some buzzing in his ear, but it soon went off and we realised it was was probably water from his shower. He tried to ring the Eye Hospital about his eye, but no answer, so will probably wait till his appointment on Monday, but go straight there beforehand, if it gets any worse. His footie friend came this morning. I've seen him a few times before to wave to when he's come to pick OH up, but never really chatted with him. He was a really nice person and asked all about what happened. His wife is a deputy manager in the Ambulance service so he knows a lot about these things. He's going to pick OH up to go for a coffee at the new Jennos where his son works once OH feels up to it. He's said not to hesitate to contact him if needed, as he and his wife will help and he even texted to say so after he left. His visit gave OH a bit of a boost and me too.
OH managed to get an appointment with his dentist for tomorrow afternoon to see if he will remove the loose tooth. He was wondering if the hospital should do it last time so we'll have to see. OH had a little walk up to he Post Box to post a birthday card for Terry for me, which was good. Terry has just been touring Japan and Australia with Primal Scream. Not my sort of music!

I've spent ages trying to find out how to attach an old email to a new one to report these phishing emails I get, as you can't just forward them like I used to, as they won't deliver now. Instructions certainly aren't easy to find and others were reporting the same problem. Suggestions I looked at didn't relate to my webmail, but I eventually managed to do it and have written down what to do in case I forget next time.

Your dinner tonight sounds nice Mel, I would enjoy that. It was a shame the egg broke and don't they make an awful mess to clean up!

I bet it was cold doing the windows Mandy and much nicer to do some knitting of a lovely doll in the warm! I wonder which one you are doing? The folded duvet cover is a good idea for OH and I'm sure I have a plain coloured one in the drawers so will have a look and he can try it.

Gwyn in Kent Report 29 Jan 2025 18:41

Quite a 'thinking' day today hoping that the day is not too hard for Vera and her family and remembering Ann on this anniversary day too.
It's quite a sad week for several of us on this thread <3

Annx
I'm not one to take too many tablets, but the hospital advised me that painkillers are best if you take them in anticipation of need,if the pain is severe, rather than for trying to ease an already accute situation. OH will soon be able to ease off later and reduce the dose if necessary.

Mel, I think it's a great arrangement going out for a shared meal or Stu coming to your home. It breaks the week up and it's good to have face to face conversation. I hope you enjoy your chicken meal this evening.

Mandy
It must be lovely to see the fire burning brightly on these cold days. It's strange what you say about Colin unusually saying about the cold. Many of the young staff at school say they are really cold a lot this year.
I'm sure your little doll will be lovely. Did you ever catch up with the person who helped herself to your craft from outside?

We had a lovely bright morning, but more rain this afternoon.
I think we are catching the edge of the storm which was over in Europe. They've had flooding in France, so it was obviously carrying quite a lot of water. :-0

Stir fry tonight as our nod to it being Chinese New Year ;-)

Annx

Annx Report 29 Jan 2025 21:31

Thank you for mentioning that about tablets Gwyn. It does make sense, as did Mandy's recent comment about taking them regularly. I hink he's been put off by the fact they can become addictive, but he doesn't have many of those and has been told to take parcetamol with them to help as well.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 29 Jan 2025 22:01

No Gwyn I haven't caught her going past yet but I will I think I might see her go past in the better weather ,I haven't forgotten, I doubt she would pay up but at least I can let her know I knew she took things and didn't pay .
Hope you've enjoyed your stir fry ,did you say you had had haggis on burns night ,never tried haggis ,I'm not a meat person really I will eat a little but no way could I live without cheese ,well only Stilton not a fan of mouldy cheese :-D

Ann are the painkillers Tramodol ? Colin and son both take them and you can take paracetamol in between taking the Tramadol ,Colin finds that Tramadol takes about an hour before he can feel any relief from it ,the doctor told me I could take those when my gall stones play me up , bil has the slow release Tramadol.

Good morning all. On my IPad now until the Pc is looked at, mended or condemned. I don’t know how old it is but it could be over ten years old. I dread all the upheaval in this room if I have to have a new one. It would mean moving a lot of my craft stuff.

It is 0 degree here, a slight frost.
I am out most of the day, to lunch at Brasserie Blanc and then the theatre for Pirates of Penzance.

Slept ok last night hope you all did as well

Did you enjoy the meal Mel?

Safe journey home Vera.
