<3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday Max <3 <3 <3

Morning all, Dull dreadful and raining. When I woke it was quite bright but by the time I rose it was dull I only had a tiny lie in this morning as BIL may come today as he did'nt yesterday. I do wish he would let me know as I can't getr on with things when I think he may call in.

7 degrees here and the rain to stop in two hours by the pc.

Hope you all slept well last night. I went out like a light as soon as my head hit the pillow. Went to bed at 12.15am and woke for the loo at 7 15am

So we have that song on the brain do we after me saying about the english country garden well as you had the tune here's the words.

How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In an English country garden
I'll tell you now of some that I know
And those that I miss you'll surely pardon
Daffodils, hearts ease and flox
Meadowsweet and lady smocks
Gentian lupine and tall hollyhocks
Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, forget me nots
In an English country garden
How many insects come here and go
Through our English country garden
I'll tell you now of some that I know
And those that I miss you'll surely pardon
Fireflies, moths and bees
Spiders climbing in the trees
Butterflies that sway on the cool gentle breeze
There are snakes, ants that stinks
And creepy things
In an English country garden
How many songbirds fly to and flo
Through our English country garden
I'll tell you now of some that I know
And those that I miss you'll surely pardon
Bobolink, cuckoo and quails
Tanager and cardinals
Bluebirds larks thrush and nightingale
There is joy in the spring
When the birds begin to sing
In an English country garden
Robin
Don't forget the robins
Robin
Don't forget the robin

The only thing is I think it may have been sung by Rolf Harris.

Em's just texted me to say that her son George has got a scholarship for Kingsley School which is the one he wanted.

Always good to hear when a child gets the school they want so well done George.

Looks like we have the same weather Mel altthough only 5 degrees here.

I have done a load of washing emptied the over full airing cupboard and had a late breakfast, and also done a bit of Gardening interests group admin. washing is in the drier now.

Afternoon All,

Thanks Mandy, that made me remember where Ohio came from. :-) We don't have as many roasts now and not always on a Sunday. I can't believe Max will be aged 9 tomorrow!! It doesn't seem long since he was an adorable puppy. How fast time seems to go by.

Percy Grainger wrote the music for piano Mel, but Jimmie Rodgers is best known for singing it.

I bet George was pleased to get the school he wanted. Some parents appeal when they don't get the choice they want and OH sits on some of the panels that then decide. In my day I had a choice of 5 city grammar schools. Mum wanted me to go to the 'best' one that was a short walk away from where we lived. She seemed impressed by the velvet winter cloche hats and summer straw boaters they wore, but I thought it too posh and was quite relieved to get her second choice.

We popped to the shop this morning for a few bits and a paper and are back in the warm for the day now. OH is eating more and settled in front of a footie match on tv, so I'm stopping here for the duration and keeping the shredder company first before finishing the food order.

AnninGlos Report 15 Feb 2025 15:53

Ann sounds as if your OH is getting used to watching his foorball in the warm. does he shout at the set? Pleased to hear that he is eating more now, that is a good sign.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Feb 2025 19:14

Snow!!!!!don't send it my way please.

Well I waited till just before 2pm to go to the shop as BIL had'nt come. He did'nt come at all today so I have wasted a day waiting for him . I do hope he is ok.

Not done a bl**dy thing its so unsettling.....................................

Annx Report 15 Feb 2025 19:15

I just asked him AnnG and he laughed and said 'no' and not even at matches either. I think I've heard a few 'tuts' sometimes. :-)

Oh no Mandy! You set me off peeking through the blinds here, but it's just fine rain I can see here at the moment. If it is settling on the wet and freezes it could be icy tomorrow. I just looked and we are due another cold day and a frost tomorrow. It's beginning to seem a long winter.

?? T was the opposite he issued orders at football and Rugby Union matches on TV.
There are a terrible lot of idiot refs around. Son in law is not much better only Rugby League and Chelsea matches get the benefit of his advice.

AnninGlos Report 16 Feb 2025 07:57

Good morning all, very dull again and only 1 degree. I slept but not that well, lots of dreaming all muddled can't remember any of them now but they kept waking me.

anyway I decided to get up at 0715, stripped the bed and bedding in the wash. But I am not washed or dressed yet. Nothing planned although if it stays dry (and is not like yesterday) I do need to walk down with a couple of books for Irene and to go to the post box.
I did tidy one of the drawers in my office yesterday, might tackle another one my desk has 9 drawers.

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Feb 2025 09:43

Morning all,
It was still snowing when we went to bed but this morning it's only laying on the car all gone from the hedges and road ,it's cloudy now and not very bright .

That's a lot of draws to go through Anng are they all full .

We started another jigsaw yesterday the one son and dil bought us for christmas was just so hard ,it was one of those where the picture on the box is not what your doing ,your doing what the people on the box are looking at if that makes sense .

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 16 Feb 2025 10:33

About half full Mandy but they are not long drawers about 18 inches across and all have specific type stuff in them do do with office or craft.
Pleased to hear your snow has gone. Until 0915 we had pale blue sky and it was quite bright but now it has cluded over again and is only 2 degrees.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 16 Feb 2025 10:51

Oh so not to bad then Anng ,have you found anything you've been looking for ,it's so nice when there's something you thought was lost and it comes to light in a draw even though you've been through the draw looking for it .

I've just topped the dishwasher up with salt ,when I used it last night the salt light came on ,I really only use the dishwasher now if I do a roast or a lot of cooking ,I quite like washing up.

I gave Max scrambled egg on toast for his breakfast as its his birthday :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 16 Feb 2025 11:20

Oh yes, happy birthday max. I bet he enjoyed that.

No I have not found anything I have been looking for, I did mostly know what was in the drawer as it has all my chargers but there was also a load of old labels and addresses on bits of paper that were out of date.

I have just walked down to Iren'es with some books and craft stuff. I had to time it between drier loads as I won't leave it switched on while I am out. It is bitterly cold but I was well wrapped up and even wore a hat so I didn't feel too cold. Only problem was my eyes kept watering in the wind so I couldn't see. Still it is done now and son in law's birthday card posted.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Feb 2025 11:32

Its a bit like that here with the wind blowing in your eyes and making them water.

BIL has been and gone and took some metal stuff away with him for the recykling center. Did'nt stay long but he did show me how to put my Royal Mail postings in a file and I have been doing that.

Pc is telling me rain is coming and its been a nice morning with a cold wind but sunn too 6 degrees now.

Done the chickens and they were pleased to see me this morning. Fed the fish as they were swimming around a bit and I remembered to ask BIL to open the filter shed door for me as it was stuck closed and I could'nt open it as the wind had blown it shut a few weeks ago and it was jammed on a wire that comes out of it to my pond filter. I shall have to file away a bit of the door where the wire is so it dos'nt happen again.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 16 Feb 2025 13:35

O blast I look forward the The Midwives on a Sunday evening.

I thought it was Max's birthday the other day so I will say again.....

<3 <3 Happy Birthday Max <3 <3

Sounds like he had a good breakfast.

Suns gone and the winds up so its really cold out there and the wild birds are feeding like crazy.
