Hi Everyone,

Frank those chicks and bunnies are the cutest I've seen.......Ros is very patient to have made so many. They will be irresistible.

We used to call the horse chestnut buds sticky buds and had them in vases at school. I remember 2 kinds of those burrs. The brown ones that have hooks and are hard to fetch out. They are the sort that got in my pony's mane like Mel was saying. The ones we get growing in the garden are bright green with tiny round balls on. The whole plant as well as the balls is sticky and clamps itself onto your hand and clothes when you are weeding!! lol That one looks like on here........

http://www.dgsgardening.btinternet.co.uk/cleavers.htm

I never knew it being called 'sticky willie' before!!! lol

Good job you have made that appointment Jane. It will all be done before you know it.

Hope Ellen is ok tomorrow David. I suppose she is dreading it, but will be relieved when it is over.

We always had rats in the garden at my parents house where there was a brook at the bottom of the garden. They would be after the chicken food dregs at dusk if you went down the garden. One bit poor Clara who had a permanent limp after. We used to put rat poison down but our neighbour had more trouble with them as he bred bulldogs and had food in the kennels. He used to rush out with a double barrelled shotgun!!!! Still, more practice for Chris!!

Mel, years ago I had a lift from one of the local lads who drove an old Morris 8 and you could see the road through a hole in the floor as he drove along!! Will you feel lost without your car.....I always do.

We did a bit more in the garden this morning then had to go into the city which I try and avoid these days. Heaving with unsmiling people that bash into you and litter and mess everywhere. Not like it was years ago when I used to enjoy it......or am I just turning into an old fogey!! lol

OH is off to do a training session as School Exam Invigilator in the morning and I am meeting up with some friends, so a nice break from the garden.

I don't think its quite as cold this evening , we had the heating on for a while ,we have now turned it off .

Do the dentists do the gas anymore , i had that once it was a funny sensation , it felt like i was falling back and all i could see were these black rings going round and round .

Time for a drink .

Evening All
What a strange day, weather has been quite warm but mainly overcast. Had to go into town earlier ( to breast screening clinic steady Frank) and put on tights as cold but now its warm again, most odd.
Hubby is busy applying for Olympic games tickets which is proving quite a feat of ingenuity. We are either going to see lots of events at some horrendous cost or only see things on the tele. Only time will tell.
I am spending far too much time doing the jigsaw and neglecting everything else.
David I hope all goes well at the dentist tomorrow.
Jane Did you know that you are never more than 6ft from a rat!!Hope yours does not appear again. It must have come from the pipe which had been disturbed perhaps you need to contact the council rat catcher.

Fiona

Fiona Report 15 Apr 2011 13:35

I think it's working now

Weather dull but mild
Have only done a few stretching exercises this morning as I think I over did the Wii yesterday as my lower back is aching. Been looking for Ancestors on Scotlands People this morning , found a few folk and they have had a few more children by 1911 so I'm back to BDM certs again. these kids keep popping up.

Yes maureen hope you are feeling better, I still have a cough after that cold OH brought home a few weeks ago, hoping we will have more dry weather so it clears up.

Maureen Report 15 Apr 2011 14:50

Thank you for all your good wishes, I am a bit better today, at least my eyes aren't streaming and don't have to blow my nose every two minutes, it's really sore now, still I'm not going to moan when there are people with far worse problems than a bloomin' cold.

I have a mountain of sewing to do, Still taking in trousers and skirts. I didn't realise how much weight I had lost, now trying on summer trousers I feel like one of those slimming advertisement where you hold out all the excess material ....lol

Hi Maureen ,
I know just how you feel, for I went down a dress size because of a bereavement, I have a huge bag full of size 10 clothes and had to start looking at the size 8 rails.

Daughter no 2 graduates in June and I am looking for an outfit, I have a blue summer skirt which is ok with a belt and a blue jacket which I may need as it could be still on the cool side in June, I have cream shoes & a bag , all I need is a top, not sure what I want yet , still have quite a bit of time till the occasion so i keep looking when I'm in the town or in Glasgow.

Maureen

Maureen Report 15 Apr 2011 15:19

Maybe you should look for a top in a cream Fiona, or a completely different colour. I liked watching Gok's Fashion Show but wouldn't feel comfortable wearing some of his creations. I still can't work out what shape I am.

I got feed up with trying. This morning I typed for about twenty minutes, and it all dissapeared.

Ros has finished getting everything ready for tonight, and taken down two baskets of bunnies and ducks, she's now bakeing cakes, shes already made two dozen cornflake and chocholate tarts with a baby egg on top.
There's some sort of reception tonight. I won't be going.

Am getting dinner for 5pm as she needs to be there for 6pm. Roast chicken new pots, mashed, brussels broccalli and peas and carrots.

Conrad and Jan rang at 5.20 last night to say they wouldn't be able to make it. Ended up with Fish and Chips. Threy are so unreliable. Worst time keppers I have ever know. They will be late for their own funerals !!!!
