Morning All
Just a quickie.I need to shower and wash my hair ,then whip the dog out for a short walk before settling down to watch the wedding.Chris must be tired he is still fast asleep.I just realised we have no bread,so that means I will have to nip out sometime before lunch.James can't go as he arrived home on a crutch last night after going over on his ankle at badminton !He has a huge egg.

Ah! That was lovely.Kate looked beautiful in that gorgeous dress.
I can't believe it .Both Chris and James watched it all !!!!! Chris is still in his dressing gown. That is unheard of.
I nipped to Tes** to get bread and there were an awful lot of men doing the shopping lol.A bit of a break now before the kiss on the balcony so I better get some washing on the go.

I have to say that I thought that wedding was absolutely lovely! the dress was beautiful as was the bride The service and the setting (wow, that Abbey is impressive) were terrific. I think we are the only country in the world who could put on this sort of show and, I have to say, it made me proud to be British. I also think the message is loud and clear that we are a 'Christian' country, extremists please take note!! There, now you all know what I think!!! Yes you're right, I'm a Royalist, give me the Queen any day than President ????? Blair?!!!

I've been reading your posts Mandy and Ann with interest on Constance Kent, I really enjoyed The Suspicions of Mr Wicher but I think it was Constance who killed her half brother with the help of her brother, there are some good dramas coming on.

Glad you all enjoyed the wedding, no doubt I will see the best bits when I see the news later, have been busy potting on all the plants I've been growing.

Are you off on hols soon Mel?

Jane

Jane Report 29 Apr 2011 15:25

Hi Maureen. You mean you didn't see any of it? As Liz said it made me feel so proud to be British.Chris plonked a box of tissues beside me when I started to sniff lol.All the Pomp and Ceremony ,the horses, carriages .I just love it.
I never buy memorabilia ,but when I was at Tes** earlier .on the spur of the moment bought a tin of biscuits with the picture of William and Kate. You should have heard Chris's remark when he saw it lol.

Garage is sorted now,but there still doesn't look like there is a lot of spare space.

I loved the trees in the Abbey Liz.I know yesterday you weren't too sure.Did you like them?.It looked like an avenue.
I bet Hannah and her friends are still at Hyde Park.

I wonder what our Frank has been doing???

No Jane, haven't seen any of the wedding but I do wish them a long and happy life together and I can see how it can only do good for Britain but I don't believe in all that curtsying and bowing to another human being. I agree with Liz this is a Christian country and should remain so but we can still be christian without the royal family.

Poor Alfie, here we go again, two steps forward one step back. He's started scratching again right at the base of his ear which makes it really difficult to cover. I've pulled the bandage right up over his ear now and he looks so funny with just one ear, at least it's the deaf one that's covered, he was trying to pull the bandage off but he seems to have resigned himself to it now.

LilyL Report 29 Apr 2011 16:06

Yes Jane, I had to eat my words about the trees! The Abbey is so enormous that they fitted in very well. I thought they would be a bit overpowering, but I was wrong!! Oh dear Mureen, I hope Alfie is OK, perhaps he has mites in his ear. (I'm sure you've thought of that!!) Millie had an ear infection last summer and she scratched like fury and was very miserable; ear drops did the trick, and now I use ear wipes every so often, just in case! I do agree with you about bowing and cursying to the Royal Family, but I think the younger Royals aren't too keen on that either. For me though this is outweighed by the pomp and ceremony, Trooping of the Colour, all those uniforms and lovely horses, just the history and the evolement of the whole thing keeps me on board with the Royals!!!

Jane Report 29 Apr 2011 16:07

Maureen could Alfie be allergic to pollens etc .(re scratching). This time of year Chester is always itchy. He is now on a permanent very small dose of steroids.Poor Alfie,he hasn't been dealt the best of health has he.Anymore pics of him sleeping in odd places? lol.He is such a character .

I must get the next lot of washing out now. It's great drying weather.

It looks exactly the same as his neck did and he is scratching at the back of his ear. I did think FLEAS but I can't use the treatment now until it clears up. The last time the vet seemed to think it was the nerve ends tingling, and since he went a bit peculiar last week maybe it has started it off again. I'm just going to keep it covered for now to get him out of the habit of scratching, it worked last time. Everytime I look at him I want to laugh, I'll take a photo so you can see what I mean.

William and Catherine's day to be sure, but when the Queen turned and went indoors from the balcony they all followed her.

She is still the boss.

Jane Report 29 Apr 2011 18:34

I thought I saw Prince Phillip go in first David. But yes the balcony cleared pretty swiftly once the Queen went in.I think today has been a great day for Gt Britain. It has got everyone out of the doom and gloom (even if for just one day)
Have you got your new car?

Got it this afternoon

LilyL Report 29 Apr 2011 18:48

I agree Jane, I thought it was a great day for Britain, even if it isonly for one day. There is so much gloom and horror in the world, it was nice to see people smiling and cheering. I should think the Queen must get a bit tired these days after all she is 85, and Prince Phillip nearly 90!! perhaps that's why they went in a bit smartly!! brilliant day though!

Evening everyone,

Well the wedding was lovely ,i thought she looked beautiful ,and the brides maids were so sweet too.
Poor Prince Phillip ,he had a job to get into the carriage , but he is nearly 90 !!

Maureen , poor little Alfie, all bandage up , he's being very good keeping it on.
I wonder if Frank used his bus pass today !!

Hi Everyone,

The wedding was lovely wasn't it and I'm glad the rain held off for them. How nice to see an elegant, flattering wedding dress and a lovely floaty veil that doesn't stick out like tutu net. A small and simple bouquet too (lilies of the valley maybe?) I think Kate and her brother both did extremely well and seem confident and well mannered. We watched nearly all of it, OH loves anything ceremonial.

I thought I didn't spot you Maureen! Mind you I don't know how people manage to stand for hours like that and I would hate to be in the middle of a crowd. Poor little Alfie, he seems to tolerate his bandage quite well though. He loves being near the computer doesn't he.

This afternoon I went to collect a shrub I had been looking for from a little nursery I don't often go to. I just rang them on the offchance and they had it! Did lots of washing and it is all dry and OH has weeded and watered. We had some lovely lamb chops with broc carrots and swede and jersey royals and I just feel like a nice snooze now! lol

David, if only moving house was as easy as swapping your car!

Mel, like with a caravan on a boat you can usually pack more than you need. I always pack scissors, plasters, oh and tweezers for getting splinters out of OH's fingers!!
