Got my hair done and had to order a taxi home , it was pouring down no way could I have kept dry while walking . lost my brolly on the way down so windy it blew inside out and snapped. was only a cheap one,

not doing much this afternoon, some ironing and might pick up my tapestry , it's been a long while since I did any cos I am finding it hard to see the stitches , even though I have got my glasses on and using a craft magnifying glass, the wool is black,

Just having a little break from the garden. Hopefully son will be doing the decking at the weekend so I am out there now getting it all ready. Just broken up the step and now I'm going to salvage what plants I can from the border.

I do love your quotations Fiona, reminds me of Patience Strong.

It is very sad Sheila that Jess's husband will never see the baby but at least there is something of him living on in April and the new baby, does Jess know if it's a girl or boy?

My daughter is counting the days down now, poor thing, I really feel for her, she is huge, due date is this Monday but it could be anytime. They don't know if it's a girl or boy, they wanted it to be a surprise. Harry if it's a boy and Chloe Eve for a girl (Eve after my mum)

Just ordered some flowers for Ros's God Mother in the I O M. The cheeky beggeres (the florist) don't charge delivery but charge 75p for using your DEBIT CARD. what a cheek. It's not the 75 p, but the way it's done. You can't proceed if you don't tick the box !!!

Had a couple of showers this morning, but sunny and warm now.

The babies names came about, because they liked them, either MILES or ISAAC so used both ,and Johnathan after his Dad.

Have got to find something for Ros's dinner tonight. I won't eat, might have a sarnie tonight.

Tesco's this am, bought fuel £95!!! and that was with a petrol token, when will it ever end! Ian's picked up two good orders this week, so, it only needs someone to buy our house and we shall really think our luck's turned!!! I know, don't get carried away! weather up and down, not that warm here it's quite windy which keeps the temperature down. My SIL is living in South West France (they have a house there!) and she tells me that the temperature is just over 30c!! bit too hot for me, but I don't say so, would sound like sour grapes!

It's crazy isn't it Liz.I tend to just put small amounts in and then I am not tempted to drive it more than I need. You could get return flights to some places abroad for the same price as filling your tank.
How lovely to have a house in France.Chris always fancied retiring to France, but I put the mockers on that by saying I couldn't possibly leave my family.Or if we did move I would still need somewhere here.Thats right off the cards now.

Maureen,I hope all goes well for your daughter, and she doesn't have to wait too long.I was ginormous when I was expecting my two.

I have just had my hair cut.Should have booked for my roots to be done too!
But I'll have to do that maybe next week.
Tomorrow morning I have the next dreaded Dental Appointment.40 minute app.!!.Oh Gawd!

The sun is shining ,and we only had one quick shower earlier.Good job everything was watered this morning.
Late dinner tonight.Chris won't be home until 8.So it is Pasta.

Fiona ,I'm surprised you didn't take off with your brolly this morning lol

Don't know if you recall.I had a very heavy fall in my bathroom a couple of years ago while trying to cough some thing up.
Since then my right shoulder has ached and the bones in my neck ache.
Do you think this is a whip lash type injury?
What's the cure?

I've been at it again. Decided to mow the front lawn. Just got started and tripped over the cable, which then went under the mower, and BANG the cable was cut. I have one of those cable jointers (waterproof) so decided to join the cable with that. Two hours later, all joined up but won't work. have got myself in such a state, have thrown everything in the garage, will take the cables up to Conrad tomorrow and he can re-do it for me. In my tremper I threw the lot down and lost a screw that holds the cable in place. So will have to buy a new connector. Apart from that everything is O.K.
Lets hope you are a GRAN?NAN?GRANDMA?NANNY? by Tuesday Maureen. The names sound nice. !!! :O :O :O

Short back & sides for you then Jane,!!!

Liz, I know what you mean with petrol prices. Ros normally puts £30.00 in at a time, but seems to get less and less for the money.

Had a Email from TESC# as I haven't shoped direct for a long time they are offering a voucher of £10.00 off a £50.00 order. So must do a shop on line next week.

Had my Passay serviced this afternoon.
On taking payment the mechic advised me that there is a slight enge leak.Knews to me.There are no oil stains at my door. Also he said the brake pads are worn and the rear discs are corroded. It's just passed it's MOT with no advisories so I find these new faults a puzzle.

Do you think garages find or create work so that the customer has to have said faults seen to,if they exist.

Frank ,you are just a liability lol.You shouldn't be let out !!Keep that temper of yours in check now.I know what you are like !!!

David I wonder if you have some Arthritis in your neck and shoulder. It may be nothing to do with that fall.Dare I suggest age related lolol.
I'm sure some garages do make up some faults just to get more money out of you.Is it a reputable garage?

Chris just rang me from work to say 2 separate patients had said how sorry they were to hear the Dr M had died. This is a partner who retired a while ago and was diagnosed with Parkinsons about 3 years ago.No-one at the surgery has heard anything, but it seems strange that 2 people have commented. It sounds like another funeral to me :O

David

David Report 12 May 2011 19:01

It's a reputable garage,as garages go.
I won't name it in case I libel.

You can't invent rust and corrosion I'd think but I suppose it's possible to create a minor leak.

My house had a second survey this morning. No faults found.

David

David Report 12 May 2011 19:05

Age related lol
Every thing works given the opportunity.

Since I passes 60 a few years back I've become Stoic

Jane

Jane Report 12 May 2011 19:41

Not quite sure how to respond to that David lolol.Opportunity is a great thing !! We have to make the best of any opportunity that comes our way lol

Still me own my own waiting to cook this blooming Pasta. The dog has been fed ,so he is sorted.Hannah will want a shower before she eats as she will be all sweaty from the Gym and Chris will want a wander around the garden and check his emails. He needs a little while to unwind before he eats.
Oh,Hannah has just arrived so I will get the first serving on the go .

Evening All,

Well we've had a few short sharp showers today but it's been quite windy......watered everything nicely though.

Maureen, was the photo you put on a small photo anyway? I would try changing your photo next and see if another one comes out any bigger. I bet you are looking forward to your new decking. It will look very smart. My sweet peas are coming through at last!! I will have to give them TLC and see if they do better than last year's ones!! lol

Frank, you need those parking beepers across your rear or one of those robot lawnmowers that does it on it's own!! I hope you haven't hurt yourself. It is a right rip off the charges they make for using credit cards. We went to see 2 films yesterday at Warwick Arts and I didn't realise till after that they had charged £1.60 for the one transaction!! What annoyed me was that they didn't tell me there was a charge before I paid so I could have used a debit card or cash instead. I'm sure they are supposed to tell you before you pay, but it would be my word against theirs wouldn't it if I complained!!

OH has the saw now to cut the 2 trees down when it is drier. I would perhaps use one of the trunks in the back garden for something, but I think it would be too heavy to carry,

I like all the babies names, much nicer than some you hear these days.

Jane, I hope Hannah did well in her interview. It sounds as though she was quite relaxed and that she wasn't phased by anything they asked which always bodes well. Fingers crossed. Poor James, I hope he is feeling better now and that his housemates haven't caught the bug. Beautiful Rhododendron pic.

Liz, me and my first OH towed a caravan to the Dordogne area of France one year and it reached over 40 degrees!! 30 degrees would be too hot for me now too so you can imagine how boiling it was. My head got burned through the car sunroof just on the journey there. Luckily we were next to the river, so we kept going in every hour to cool off or in the showers on the site. Before we went to France I made mesh panels to velchro over all the window openings and rooflight and at least we could sleep with the windows fully open without any of the many huge bugs coming inside!! The speedo and petrol guage both packed up on the car with the heat, ( a french car too) then worked perfectly again once we got home.

David, perhaps the garage was just letting you know these things so you won't be surprised when they do have to be done. Our garage does that but they ALWAYS show you what they have found or ring you so you can come and look and see for yourself if you want to before they put things back together again!! I'm glad things are progressing housewise, another step forward.

I love these quotations Fiona, they are so true!

I had someone ring today to ask about the accident I had 2 years ago. They were from a company of lawyers and wanted to 'close their file' they said. I put them on the spot by asking which accident and they couldn't tell me. I asked them to give details about the accident and then asked them what car I was driving at the time.......couldn't tell me!! They tried to ask me whether I was injured, so I asked what information they HAD got and where from. Just my name, postcode and tel no and the repairer's details. I said it was bizarre that they had had a file open on me for 2 years with no information and only now were they doing something about it. They couldn't get off the phone quick enough. I know what it was all about as I saw a tv programme a while back that said car repairers were making money selling customer's details to injury claim lawyers who would try and make compensation claims for every little thing. This sort of thing is helping push up our motor insurance costs.

What a nerve some of these companies have Ann.Good on you for being on the ball.
I just popped in quickly to say Night Night as I dozed off on the settee and want to get to bed swiftly before I wake up properly and then can't get back off again.Off for lots of ZZZZZZZ (hopefully) lol

I've just had a look at this chat and notice that it's not about childhood memories any more, but here goes anyway.

I remember my grandmother's orange cake and lime jelly. She would make a big jug of raspberry cordial filled with ice and call it "Barmaid's Blush". I can remember watching the Mickey Mouse Club when I was one and being pushed around in my pram. I remember having my first injection at the local RSL Club and screamed the place down. A girl called Alexandria pinched me continually on my first day of school. My mum fronted her and said "Touch her again and I'll rub your face in the dirt" - never happened again. I remember my first pink pottie and being pottie trained. Well, that's probably enough. I could go on all day!!!! I will let you all get back to where you are up to. I am a long way behind, but I've enjoyed recording these memories.

Cheers.

Hi MEgirl and welcome to the thread. It has been running for three years now and most of us have recorded all our memories.

Please go on as we all love to hear things that people remember.

Also the thread has been wiped twice! So there are lots of memories that have disappeared from the thread.

Just had a little shower of rain here at 8.30 but hope it holds off today.
