OMG Kim, yuk a cockroach down your throat.....horrendous......that would stay with you for ever!!!! I sleep with my mouth open I think, I'm sure spiders must go in while I'm asleep!!
One of my ancestors who was transported married an Irish girl who had been sent for stealing a cloak. She was run down by 3 prisoners on horseback when she was crossing the road. She struck her head on the kerb and died the next day.
Jane, either of those places would be nice to go to. We haven't sorted anywhere out yet, but fancy a late break.

All this talk of spiders is making me itch ...lol ..... I'd love to live somewhere nice and hot but I guess that's the price you pay.
We all know about witchetty grubs Kim, from a TV programme called " I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here", it turns my stomach just watching celebs eating them.
That is sad news Fiona, would that be your Uncle, and 67 goodness, makes you think, that old clock is ticking a bit too fast.
We have had no rain at all for ages, was going to water the garden yesterday but if I did it would rain and I wanted to have a mooch around the boot sale this morning, which I did, it still amazes me some of the things people are selling and hopefully tomorrow son will be over to make a start on the decking. I've had to break up the step which goes down onto the patio and poor Alfie ends up doing a somersault now out the back door as it's too far down for his little legs.

Hi Everyone Back from nursing duties. Poor Hazel has some horrible spots but she has been very brave and quite cheerful.Lucy is spot free at the moment and has been kept away from her sister. Hubby and I spent lots of time doing arts and crafts which involved lots of sticking things. drawing, cutting and anything else we could think of which constituted quiet play. We all had a super time apart from the 5.30 am wake up call and we were exhausted by 10pm.Still the family seemed very grateful for our help and it was great spending time with them. Got home late yesterday afternoon and then went to a ball last evening and managed to stay awake until midnight. Hubby has spent today packing as he is off to France tonight for 2 weeks and I am doing very little.
Fiona Sorry to hear your sad news. Mel I hope you had a good holiday. I am so far behind with posts but have been thinking of you as saw lots of boats on the canal. Hi Kim.Have only been to Sydney once for a weekend but loved it. Off to catch some of the footie before I take hubby to the station :-)

Just another memory before I watch some tele. I remember my father cutting the back lawn in the summer of 1967. Mum called him from the kitchen and distracted him and he ran the mower over his foot. Bloody was gushing everywhere. Mum in her infinite wisdom ran out with a bucket of water and threw it over his head!!!!! I had to block my ears as he wasn't very pleased.
My eldest brother with a coolness I have never seen since, simply walked out to him and applied a tourniquet in the right spot and they took him out to the hospital. The doctor put him in the Victor (lawn mower injuries) Ward and said that Saturday afternoons were always the busiest. It was New Year's Eve and we were going across the road to the neighbours for a party. They had a pianola and we had a wonderful time singing old songs and running around the block at midnight banging pots and pans. Not dad - he was holed up in his favourite chair with a large glass of brandy and did not feel a thing. We left him there and picked him up off the floor the next morning.
We played a lot of darts and cards at home. When my in-laws came out from England for my wedding in 1981, they taught me how to play Whist (Wist) and I loved it. I had many a meal at the lovely English pubs around Somerset. I think my favourite was The Fox - white place with a thatched roof. You are so lucky to have a long history, Prince William and Katherine and the beautiful countryside, plus a brilliant sense of humour. I would love to visit again one day.
Goodnight all.

Ann I have only seen one healthy looking Palm that is left in the whole of the area.It is so sad to see just the trunks left.My neighbour told me just now that someone in Burton Latimer has lost the whole of his potato crop because of the frost.
I am being brave with the meal tonight.Lemon Roast Chicken and a Really green risotto .The risotto has spinach ,peas, mint, salad onions, creme fraiche and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. I have to make a herb butter to stick under the skin of the chicken, and stick lemon and garlic inside .I think I am excelling myself lol.If anyone complains I will clock them one lol...THEY WILL LIKE IT.
KIm you talk away .It is interesting to hear news from your neck of the woods.I'm sorry your neighbour is ill.I hope they find out the problem and that he will get better. My Aunty Kate in Croydon Victoria apparently likes to go to the Casino now and again.I think there is a big one somewhere near there lol

Only an hour away, should be a good match, looking forward to it for once. It makes a nice charge from Man united/Chelsea/Arsenal.
Have opened a beer, so getting in the mood.
Missed your news earlier Fiona, 67 is no age for people this day and age. Is there anything that made them to expect it ???
Mel, This has happened to me on two occassions, and our little Chinese Takeaway knows me so well,he says O.K. see you next week. The trouble is, it's a big BIll the week after.!!!
Hows that tooth Jane ???? I hope it settles down so you can chew on it, without any discomfort.
Love all your stories KIM, Don't we lead a different way of life over here in Great Britain. No nasties in the way of spiders/snakes. ONLY PEOPLE !!!!

Frank, tooth is fine thanks. This temporary crown looks just like a proper tooth good match colour wise.I just hope it stays in place until August!! It seems an awful long time, but as the dentist says he wants to leave it all alone now so there is little risk of anymore infection. Then he said "of course it could flair up again"If it does then the tooth would have to come out.I don't want to loose it and have a gap that would really spoil my beautiful smile lol. ;-) ;-) Whats it doing in Rutland? Sun still here.I thought we were due rain!!! Which team will you be cheering for? I bet I will hear you lol.Don't get too pi**ed on all that beer !!,and BEHAVE

Maureen. it was my cousin's husband who died yesterday, I have only 1 uncle still alive he lives in America and 4 aunts still living two in England and 1 America and 1 here in Scotland.
Frank, My cousins husband had been very ill for the last few years problems with his lungs, he was in and out of hospital quite a few times, and was mainly confined to the house using Oxygen, But they kept plodding on and I suppose when he was taken into hospital this time, things were really bad, even though some one is very ill you hope everything will be ok , but unfortunately this time it was not to be.

Maureen ,I'm not sure why I am bothering really lol.It is a Waitr*** recipe and it took my fancy.I now have to find my food processor that hasn't seen the light of day in donkeys years lol.I hope I still have it!I need it to mush up the peas, spinach, creme fraiche and whatever else.I hate all the dirty dishes and utensils that I seem to use.I am not the tidiest or cleanest of cooks.Very disorganised. How is Alfie? Has he stopped scratching? Is he still wearing his ear muff?
I have just melted butter and added the chopped herbs. Now I somehow have to separate the chicken skin from the meat and shove the herb butter in.Yikes! It looks so easy when the chefs on tv do it.I have put half a lemon and garlic up its backside. I quite fancy a spag Bol lol :D

Hi all, It's nearly midday here and I haven't had breakfast yet - just pottering and doing bits and pieces. All this mention of food on here has made me so hungry. That Lemon Chicken sounded wonderful and Roast Beef done the English way, oh my.
Must away and have myself some toast and marmalade. Hope you are all sleeping soundly. Pleasant dreams xx
Sunny, blue skies here and my two cats are rolling around on the back patio. More washing before the rain sets in and I have to get my daughter back on her feet after a kidney infection. She has exams this week, but I don't believe she will be going to school any time soon.

Hello Everyone. It's a nice morning here but not very warm!! talked to Laura yesterday, seems that her marriage is on the skids!! heaven only knows why, accumulation of things I guess, anyway it rather accounts for all the ups and downs and commotions of the past few weeks! more worry, but to be honest, there is nothing we can do, so have got to be a bit firm with ourselves on that front! shall talk to Mark he's so sensible and usually puts things back into perspective! Taking Merlin out this afternoon in the trap, shall have to wrap up against this wind, but the fresh air will do us good, I hope!!!!

Morning All Well Liz a ride in the trap should blow the cobwebs away lol.I haven't ventured outside yet but it does look breezy.I do hop Laura and her OH manage to sort things out with their marriage I expect there will be much stress with the worry over the business too which won't help matters.
Kim I hope your daughter gets over her infection soon.It is a miserable thing for her to have. How old is she? I love to see cats rolling and stretching in the sun on patios.I think I would quite like to be a cat.
Dinner today will be a simple affair lol.Baked Potatoes, with a filling of bacon, peas, asparagus and creme fraiche. Then Strawberries,Raspberries,Blueberries and ice cream I will do that for this evening. Must get some washing in quickly as it looks good for drying this morning. BBL

Jane, dinner sounds wonderful, stop pls. Thank for you for your kind words - Miranda is 16 and has her first wonderful boyfriend. He helped look after her this weekend and did a marvellous job. I think she will be back to the hospital or I'll have to contact the doctor in Sydney. She improves during the day and then gets nauseous and has a lot of pain in the kidney region at night. This has been happening for a week now, with heavy-duty antibiotics oral and intravenous.
My cats have a very good life!!!! Best food, lots of love and attention and they are a great comfort when I am ill and have to be in bed. Kiara is a blue mitted ragdoll and Bess is a big black and white cat that we adopted from a cat home 6 years ago.
My daughter has just been sick. Must go. Enjoy your day everyone.
Cheers.

Morning from a dull and cloudy Rutland. Here we are at 11.30 all sitting around the conservatory,in our dressing gowns We haven't had breakfast this morning, just loads of tea and coffee. Dinner about 2 pm.
The meal was very nice last night. I didn't realise untill I got the bill that thay do BOGOF so the bill was a nice surprise. and the food excellent. It's the same place that Conrad gets his takeaway every week. and thats aways good.
Raining here now, and the clouds are covering the skys, so we might be in for a drop.
Liz, This could have well been the cause of the upsets you were having with Laura. It's funny how you can put your finger on things at a later date. LET THEM SORT IT OUT. !!! if you interfer you will get the blame. for poking your nose in keep :D :D :D
