Morning All
Was frozen last night when I got in from the cinema, they had the air conditioning on and everybody was huddled under coats. Was a good film if you like that sort of thing, We all like Johnny Depp but I found it strange having to wear those 3d glasses, prefer to not to wear them.
Weather sunny, then we have a great downpour and it's still very very windy. have my heating on this morning just for a short while, a bit chilly.
Sorry you weren't well yesterday KIM with a tummy bug, makes you feel right out of sorts.
Keeping fingers crossed for ROZ, at the hospital Frank,
OH says it looks like he might get Monday off and we will be able to go down to England for my Cousin-in-law funeral, I haven't seen any of my English relatives since my mothers funeral back in 1999, there's a lot of catching up to do.

Morning Mel and Kim and all
Wasn't there a girl group called Mel and Kim??
Well what a beautiful day.Have done the watering at the neighbours.I walked right to the bottom of their garden where the veg patch is and lying on the top of the soil was a dead snake.(Kim,have you been sending us your friends lolol)
I hope you have a good nights sleep tonight and are feeling better in the morning. Haven't a clue what your bug things are.I noticed the other day something has been nibbling one of my Orchids on the kitchen windowsill.
I'm just going to hang the washing out and then sort out this mound of ironing.Quick coffee first though.

I have a mound of ironing too Jane. Such a lovely day though and I want to be outside or in the tunnel!!
Will get some things planted in the tunnel and then see how the land lies later on. Really miss putting the time on the bottom of my posts and go to do it each time I post!!!!!!
I must say it is good to see the time displayed again as it gives everyone a clue to when we do things or if you are helping someone.

Might pop in for a bit of lunch, on the way back. Save me cooking tonight. I'm sure we can find a village pub off the main road. BBL

Thanks Mel, Jane and Fiona, it was chest pain that I get from time to time - something to do with the ME, but feels like a heart attack. No good going to hospital as they send me home again.
Jane, yes there was a singing duo, but Mel died sadly. Did they sing "Respectable"? Our Mel's all good, I'm sure. Not my snake, lol - now I'm going to get the blame for everything that slithers and creeps over your way, ha. Had an email from a friend in Queensland. Her son has just come home with a baby python that will grow to 6 feet. They eat mice, so she has a bag of frozen mice in her freezer; very unhappy and frightened. The little thing has already hissed and reared it's head at her. He says he will be thawing them out in her microwave. WOULD NOT be happening in my house, in my kitchen!!!!
We have these ugly black and red caterpillars that like to eat my magnolias. There must be some powder we can sprinkle for that!!!
Enjoy your day - just before I go Johnny Depp is one of my favourite actors, but I can't get into his "Pirates" movies.
Bye for now :-)

Hi All Head, neck and back much better today. I have been gardening!! which only happens when hubby is away and had to put the spinkler on for the veggies as the ground is cracking. It's aglorious day so warm, and it encouraged me to dust the bedrooms before the gardening but thats enough for one day. Had telephone call from MIL last night with more information as she had been speaking to her brother. If nothing else it seems to have brought the family closer as MIL has not seen her siblings for sometime and is now talking of a visit next week. I am going to the theatre in Darlington tonight to see Calendar girls which everyone says is very funny. Went to a special screening when the film first came out. The cinema in Thirsk decided to have a screening for WI members only and the laughter was wonderful to hear. The ladies involved in the original calendar come from our sister federation in West Yorkshire and have appeared at several events so are quite well known in the area.I could have gone to the West End production a couple of years ago when at the National AGm but opted to go to the Picasso exhibition instead so tonight is the night. Kim I hope you are feeling better today.I remember those enormous bats hanging outside the ladies looin the botanical gardens in Sydney and having to run underneath them to get inside. You certainly have some enormous creepy crawleys. Jane Thanks for the photographs they are gorgeous. I would have been horrified to find a snake on the garden Fiona Hope your funeral is not too traumatic and you enjoy catching up with your relatives. Take care at the Wake as County Durham funerals can be alchoholic events!!! Frank Hope all went well for Ros, she has my sympathy. :-)

Hi all,
Not the best of news. He will not operate on Ros's back and will not allow anyone else to. She has to go back for another MRSA test, then he will have her back for another injection. If that doesn't work. She will have to live on painkillers. He will keep a ckeck on her, and perhaps inject again in six/twelve months. A neighbour down the road, hobbled pass the front garden and Ros said" what you been upto." He was on holiday three weeks ago, turned over in bed and trapped a nerve in his back. Ros said "joinn the club" I'vs had mine for over 30 years. THANKS He said. Something to look forward to.
We stopped of at a place called Broughton. (Jane will know it) Ros had Lasange salad and chips. I had White bait and salad. The dressing on mine had so much GARLIC I almost choked.!!! Stay clear of me tonight. !!! When I got home I checked my receipt, only to find they had'nt charged for our drinks. Will have to phone them later and pay on my card. MORE EXPENCE.
Very warm and overcast here, We might get a bit of wet stuff, but I will water anyway.
Glad you are feeling a bit better today KIM. Take things easy.
I have sat with LEWIS watching Johnny DEPP, and I can't get into his Pirate films.

Frank, that is their mistake or not charging you for drinks.I would just leave it lol Sorry they can't do anything for Ros.Lets just hope the next injection helps. You will stink of garlic now for the next day or so .Just hold your breath!!!
Anne you will enjoy Calender Girls. We should have gone to see it a few months ago.Had tickets ,but one of us felt a bit under the weather so we missed it I have made a dental appointment for tomorrow afternoon.I feel something is not right with my temporary crown.I just hope i don't have another infection .
I think I will have to go and hose the garden AGAIN as there is still no rain. It's getting silly now.Grass has gone yellow again. You would think it was the middle of summer lol

Evening everyone,
Flippin heck Kim........a baby Python......no thank you!! What will your friend do when it gets big. When I lived on the edge of the Cannock Chase in Staffordshire as a little girl, the boys would bring tiny baby Adder snakes to school in jam jars. They looked quite cute, but I wouldn't touch one.....can't stand snakes. Jane I hope it was a grass snake that was dead. I wonder what 'got it'.
Johnny Depp........I just love him in that Jack Sparrow outfit!! lol I'm going to see him in 3D tomorrow. The new film has had awful reviews, but OH said he will take me as the outfit will make up for it for me!! lol He said he'd have to dress up as a pirate!! lol
Maureen we'll be seeing you in Coun*ry Homes magazine at this rate.......matching planters too!! I bet it looks lovely and is nice underfoot too. I can just imagine the new svelte you on a lounger with an iced drink and a book. lol
Frank I wouldn't bother to ring, they should get it right. If it had been the other way around I doubt they would have chased after you to put it right.
Glad you are both feeling better Anne and Kim.
I was looking at some tops while I was out today. So many have a big frill around the bottom edge......the last thing my bum needs is a big frill!! ;-)

A lot of garlic sometimes gives me indigestion Frank............were you expecting vampires tonight? Sorry to hear Ros is still suffering, she must be really fed up.
MIL got home from the hospital and said she might have to have an operation but didn't have a clue what the operation would be to do. I suppose she will ask her doctor when he gets the letter from the hospital. She could tell us every detail of how long they had to wait, how many were in the waiting room etc, but nothing about a possible operation!!! lol
Mel, you certainly get cracking with things. Sounds like your tunnel will soon be planted up. I put some free seeds I got, night scented stock, in a pot today. I haven't grown any for years. OH is loving getting in the garden now.....calls himself Monty Titchmarsh!! lol Trouble is he calls me Charlie Dimwit!! Cheek!!!!!
The lady never rang me back to say when the obelisk was coming but it just turned up today. The doorbell rings in the conservatory and OH was in there all morning so they never rang it!! They had put it down the side of the garage behing the wheelie bin. It looks very nice, but only a few of my sweet peas have appeared so I might buy a pot of seedlings to go with them.
OH saw the gardening people up the road today so he has arranged with them to come and saw the palms off at the base next time they come. One has a small shoot coming on the side of the trunk so it is still alive, but we think it would look odd growing like that so they are still going. OH will take the trunks to the tip as it will be much cheaper than them taking them as they would have to pay extra at the tip being a business.

Hi All,
Anne those bats are awful - so much screeching when dusk comes and lots of damage to the trees. There are a couple that sit in the tree and poop on my washing when I leave it out during the summer evenings. Hope you enjoyed Calendar Girls yesterday.
Frank is your tummy better today? Sorry to hear about Ros, back pain is so debilitating. I have a little more energy today, that's when I'm at my most dangerous. I have 5 minutes on my treadmill every second day to try and save my muscles.
Just had a call from my brother who is on the high seas off the coast of Brisbane at the moment. I didn't know he had gone yet - jammy bugger!! They hit a cyclone somewhere in the Pacific, otherwise, they are having a brilliant time. Arrives back in Sydney tomorrow.
Jane good luck at the dentist - hopefully it will be sorted soon.
Annx, my son hates snakes so I am lucky there. Jacky might have to get him to go and live with his girlfriend and take Monty the Python with him. Yes, that's right you do have adders in England - I was thinking you were snake free!! And much better thanks :-)
Daughter-free this weekend. She has gone off to the boyfriend's with a bag of pills and potions. I do hope she drinks plenty of water and doesn't get on the junk food. Can't hold her hand forever, can I? So, yippee, it's Chinese for tea tonight :D :D :D
Got to bring the washing in as the chill is just starting to hit.
Bye for now, Kim

Morning All,
Hi Kim glad you feel a bit better today. Such a horrid thing to have, M E.
I had to look after a a Python when I had the pet shop. A young couple owned it and they wanted to go on holiday and nobody would look after the snake and they could'nt afford to put in a kennel place thingy. Of course I had plenty of mice in the shop hence plenty of live food. This one was about five foot long and in a large tank just inside one of the doors to the shop. I had one customer who would'nt come in the shop while I had the snake. I had to cover it over sometimes!! I called the snake monty python as it did'nt have a name. It was alright when feeding it but when I had to change the water I was a bit dubious. I managed though as my first husband would'nt put his hand in the tank at all. the couple would bring the snake in the shop in a zipup bag!
Not so sunny today with grey skies but dry. OH has gone off to get more cement. He went out the other day up the local garage and backed into something and broke the back light plastic on his car. Now he told me he had censors that bleep when getting near things, anyway he broke the light and the girl at the garage rang to say how much it was going to cost!!!!!!! £77 plus vat. I thought it was a lot but he said he thought it would be over £100. I said well it will be by the time the vat goes on!

I cleared about a third of the tunnel yesterday, a part which I have never used as it had a lot of thistles growing there after being left for two years when oh had heart trouble. I had two goat willow trees growing in the hole in the myplex where I used to plant the tom plants. It took me two years to kill the things with roundup and yesterday I tried to dig the small stump up and broke a prong off my little stainless steel border fork!! I though they said if you bought stainless steel tools they would last you a lifetime when they first came out. I have had two so far and now I have to by another!!!!!!!! This time I broke one of the middle prongs which is a beast as last time one fork broke when oh was using it it was the end one that broke so he took the other end one off and I use that in the border and it is great for getting out big docks and weeds that have a tap root.
Anyway I am nearly there now so can have a bit more space to plant things. I have put in my toms and a pumpkin and have lettuce growing in there, two yellow courgettes and a chilli pepper. Potatoes are growing at either end of one of the bed left in there from last year!!! and the rest of my carrots from last year were starting to flower!! Dug them up to throw away and they had HUGE roots on them which had split right down the sides. All my leeks had started to flower while I was away so I dug those up and I had taken out the broccoli and burnt it as it had grey aphids all over it. Hope it has gone now as I don't want that in there anymore.
