Hi Everyone,

Welcome to little Harry Maureen.........a nice strong name, I like it. :D I love your motto, I seem to be doing it too often lately!! lol At least you can get all straightened up now the decking is done and you've stained it. I am marking out some more flower beds today to try and get the proportions right, using bits of cane and rocks!! OH is bound to walk by and kick them so I have to do it again!!!

We finished our first row of radishes at the weekend, so lovely and crunchy aren't they. I like the French Breakfast ones that are red at the top, white at the bottom. I never seem to be able to get them to follow on......in the next row they are still tiny plants. The potatoes are flowering and I have felt around them and found some potatoes about walnut size and the tomatoes aren't far behind.

Jane you can bet there will be a good crop of Broad Beans for you!! lol I hope the dentist was able to sort that tooth out for you. I love your neighbours purple tree.........I think it might be a Crimson King.

OH brought me a tea in bed this morning wearing a knotted hanky on his head and saying 'ho ho me hearties'!! lol This was because we were going to see Johhny Depp as Jack Sparrow today......see what I have to put up with!! lol Luckily we didn't find the film as bad as the reviews and the 3D effect was interesting.

We had some good news from the council on the application to build the houses on the field. Apparently it is protected green wedge (I thought all green wedge was up for grabs these days) and they will fiercely oppose the plan on that basis. Looks like we'll keep our medieval field after all. There will be a meeting next week which I think we will go to. Now we have to respond on the massive development at the edge of the village .......over 4,500 new homes and the roads around here can't cope with the traffic now.

I hope that fixes your tooth Jane, I suppose the pressure on it could have been the trouble.

So glad that helped Fitz and look forward to hearing how he gets on!! :-) :-)

Frank Report 20 May 2011 18:52

Finished dinner, washed and dried up, put everything away and cleaned down with Deto# Spray. we use loads of it. Very good stuff.

Ros in all showered and Hair washed and dryed All looking good. She's out in the morning with the Sat girl. (Martine) I am sending over a dozen Tomato plants as she hasen't grown any this year.

I have still got masses of TOM plants. some in pots and in flower, will have to get them in bigger pots or grow bags.

We have had mum and dad Blackbird on the garden where Ros. was working, with babies under the bushes. Dashing in and out as they found the grubs and worms. Ros said she could almost reach out and touch them. So tame when they have babies to feed. This morning I had eighteen starlings on the front lawn, adults and babies. They cleared everything I put out for them.

Meant to say Frank how good your old pussycat looks for his age, nice shiny coat. He looked really relaxed in that sunny spot. I bet the birds like your 'restaurant'.......Ros was lucky seeing the little babies so close like that. Our neighbour has some Bluetits in her box on the shed. There must be young in there as the parents are all over our shrubs looking for insects.

I saw in our paper the other day that 1 of the Ospreys at Rutland is likely to have been shot as he has been missing a few days and his mate is sitting on eggs. They reckon a few males have gone missing like this before and they think they are getting shot at fishing in peoples ponds for food for their mates and young.

He looks a huge Puss .What is he called Frank?
Just had a phone call from my sister .They have lost the house in Tewkesbury.
Been Gazummed (sp). They thought it was all go to move. What a Bummer. Her OH has just has an op on his tongue. He had a lump on it,due to repeated biting on the same place.Thought it was a tumour ,but it was just a build up of scar tissue. He had it done under local anaesthetic!!!!.Lots of stitches ,which will dissolve .Why does life keep dishing up poo ???.So they are now desperately house hunting again.

Oh Jane that's a shame about the house ,i didn't realise that Gazumping was still going on ,i know several years ago gazumping was all you heard about when people were trying to sell ,but i thought they'd put a stop to it .

Oh i bet his tongue will be sore i tend to bite the inside of my cheek when i'am asleep ,hurts when i let go!! :S

Annx Report 20 May 2011 20:18

Your poor sister and her OH Jane. I don't think I want to move house again........it was stressful last time and it seems just as bad these days. I thought gazumping had been stopped like Mandy says. Its so hard to muster enthusiasm to look for another place when you have set your heart on the previous one. They must really be fed up.

I know if you live in Scotland once your offer on a house has been accepted. That is it ,no chance of someone else putting a higher offer in.I think England should change the laws here. When you think the money spent on Surveys ,searches etc ,and then you lose the house. It is awful.

I don't think it will be long before I am off up to bed.Chris will be up early as he has Surgery.

Last night I had a dream about a Renal Patient of mine.He was called Darrell and he had a thing about me.He came to my wedding in a suit and button hole, just like he was a guest.I looked him up on Ances**** and saw that he died in 1987 aged 31.Six years after the wedding. How sad.He was a lovely chap but I always had a feeling he wasn't going to be around for long.I wonder why I had a dream about him?I hadn't thought about him for nearly 30 years.

Maureen congratulations on the arrival of Harry (great name my First Fleeter was a Harry). How many grandchildren is that?

Anne, I too have Ancestry if anyone needs a lookup just ask! I will stop talking about spiders and snakes, but we seem to have a different one in the house each night - very confronting as I'm always picked to deal with them.

Frank the prawns were wonderful - big and juicy, but the sauce upset my tummy - seems I have a problem with garlic too!! Sorry this medication is making Ros dizzy. Trying not to sound ignorant here, but does she have a walking frame to get around with? I have an old one I get from the garage when things get too much for me or I use my mum's walking stick.

Jane hope you have some relief with your tooth until July. Gazumping is dreadful and still goes on here. We lost a house that way years ago when were started looking here on the coast.

Afternoon Shirl, Fiona, Mandy, Mel and Annx. I'm going out in the garden to deal with the weeds. It's a lovely day, but the ground is hard from lack of rain, so I'll try not to overdo things.

Keith went to the local markets today to get some fresh produce. Lovely cakes - banana bread with blueberries and a gluten free fruit salad cake. Bananas are about $16 kg. at the moment due to the recent floods and cyclones. He came back with a huge bunch for $7 and better quality than the supermarkets. We had pancakes and fresh strawberries for breakfast - yummy :-)

Have a wonderful day when you all wake up. Frank, Meowly is a beautiful cat; looks very content in that photo!!

Cheers for now, Kim :-)

Morning All
Chilly , chilly here , I have been sorting out another top and warmer jacket for the funeral, weather forecast says it will be raining most of Monday, it's a good job we are travelling by car , as I can then take two types of clothing , light jacket or warmer jacket then I can make my mind up when I get out of the car which one to put on , we will be leaving about 7 in the morning so It will be cold when we set off,

Getting on with some ironing at the moment , OH out on his bike for a couple of hours then he has to clean out his fish tanks he has got 2 , one Tropical and one gold fish. it's quite a time consuming job. emptying most of the water removing fish to another bowl, scrubbing the tank , sterilising, then filling up and back in with fish.
The only problem I have is that he takes up the kitchen sink with all his tools while he's cleaning and it's a right mess. :-(

Morning All,

Congrats to Maureen for little Harry and to Jane for baby Ethan. What nice names as both sound so strong.

Dry here but a bit overcast. I had to go into Holsworthy yesterday to get chicken food and when I got back went up the tunnel and finished off the other part of the side bed. Now it is ready for planting. It is covered with black myplex with holes cut in it to keep the weeds down.

BIL here today to help OH find slates up our yard for the garage roof. So I have two men to feed today and BIL wife coming this evening after work in Bideford. So I have to cook for them tonight. I bought a big pack of sausages yesterday so am doing sausage and mustard mash and runners and carrots and onions.
They eat so fast as if there is no tomorrow. OH and I take our time......................................and enjoy it!

Afternoon everyone,

Nice sunny day here ,still no rain ,i tried to put some flower plants in the garden but it's so hard ,will have to water and soften it up a bit first , glad to hear we're not the only ones with a hard ground Kim , don't go and over do it will you?
The Banana bread sounds good , i love any thing with Banana's , Pancakes with strawberries for breakfast !!! you live well don't you LOL
Have you any nice Australian recipes you can share with us ?

Congratulations Grannie Jane !! another dear little boy, Ethan, that's a nice name , i bet you had a few tears didn't you ??

I some times think i'd like a fish tank Fiona, but then i think no, that's another thing that would need cleaning !!
Good idea to take a choice of jackets with you , you just don't know how the weather will be , and as you say with the car it doesn't matter about taking extra things with you , don't forget your brolly !!

Chinese for us tonight ,so no cooking for me .

Hi Amanda,

Keith does all the cooking and gets a lot of recipes from the internet. He went to the Growers Market today and got lots of fruit and veg at a great price. I like the wee strawberries - they are so much sweeter than the large ones.

We had Dr. Tickell's vegetable soup tonight, was very nourishing. Don't ask me who Dr. Tickell is!!

I should get Keith to round up some of his favourite recipes so I can email them to you.

I got a bit of weeding done in our small patch of grass out the back and then dug out some of the self seeding cocos palms by the fence. They are always coming up and make such a mess. The neighbour's lawn mower doesn't like the seeds. Also managed to get the washing dry - that's my thing around here. I won't let anyone near my washing machine, lol :D

Bess (black and white cat) was carrying on in the family room and no wonder!!! Two great black house spiders sitting together trying to dodge her paws. Out the door they went - did say I wouldn't mention spiders or snakes any more, didn't I? Sorry, they are part of my day (spiders that is).

Will be back to say goodnight if I don't fall asleep on the couch. Not much on the telly tonight.

You have a cat and you still get spiders !! LOL

Our dog Toby just lays back and watch them crawl across the floor , if hubby's here he'll get them and then tell me after , he never says there's a spider as he knows i'll shreek out !! LOL

Some recipes will be good ,i'll PM you my email

My hubby's not into any cooking exept on the barbeque !! but he will give it a go if i'am not well .
