I didn't know that David. Many places have quite a history you would never guess these days. I was amazed to see some old photos of a sleepy little village near here, Cosby. It has a nice babbling brook with a wide road each side in the centre of the village. One of the wartime pictures showed it absolutely full of soldiers! Any packing done yet?

I'm all in a tiz.I was just typing out a nice long post about 4 o'clock ,and my sister rang .So I left it to carry on .It is now half 7 and this i the first chance ~I have had to get back. After her long chat it was nearly 6 so I cracked on with a recipe I found .Haddock, spinach and gruyere cheese gratin. Half way through my grill went off!!!!,and the top oven.So I have been faffing around finishing things off in the main oven.NOW it has all come back on again!.I knew I should have just stuck to Pasta. But Chris is on at me to pick the spinach ,so I thought I better do I as I was told.It better be appreciated lol Just got new potatoes on now and some broccoli and cauli.
Mel I can't remember If I replied about your pics.Goodness me ,It is going to look great when it is finished.Love the millstone. What a clever OH you have. Can't wait to see the end result.
Frank ,just count to 10 ,take a deep breath when you feel yourself boiling over.Distraction too, remove yourself from the situation ,go for a walk or do something in the garden.Did I see a punch bag mentioned?? My son had one and it was brilliant for him to take his anger and frustration out on.Well worth the buy .(you need a pair of boxing gloves though ) lol
I haven't looked at the posts yet from this afternoon.Sorry!

Frank I hope Ross had better news than me I had one of those eye tests today at the opticians and found I have the start of cateracts and some leaking which is due to my diabestes and could cause gluecomia so I was not a happy bunnie. I have to wait for the opitican to send the result to the hospital who will send it to the doctor what a bind I am a little worried. Now I feel very wide eyed due to the stuff in my eyes.I hope Ross is ok Frank.
I have just come from Wales well yesterday after seing Mat Tree he is just like Mat when small Jess is right.Aprils comment he looks like a gnome out of Snowhite I said which one and she said dozy that was a relief thought she might say grumpy knowing April.
Jessica is down in the dumps not really saying a lot but I think enjoying the attention she is getting. There was a story on the notice board of the church how Mat died saying he worked in the forest and during a landslide fell five feet and hit his head on a rock below. I felt sad it kind of bought it all back me being with him those days before and how he was trying to tell me he felt like he was still falling and he he tried so hard by playing chess to act normal . I was surprised he could even concentrate. I remember Mel saying when the card from Mats trip to New York came that he was letting me know he was thinking of me and that did help me so much Mel fairygodmother indeed. It was a calm day when I visited the grave sat all alone in the peaceful valley and the tree suddenly moved and swayed I thought I wonder if thats a sign you never know. Had it been here today it would have been a gale.
I kind of got the feeling Mats family were trying to take over a bit and leaving Jessica out at times so many plans for the little boy and I felt like saying well yes if Jessica agrees .Mostly education. I told you Mat had schizophrenia like Jess and thats how they met and so much conversation about that illness was being mentioned. It is amazing that two beautiful people had schizophrenia but they coped met and married and what does education matter to them they had a very nasty illness and I am sure Mat junior will be ok. But the conversation was centered around that subject poor Jess. Jess is coping with her problems I think she worries about the animals they had we took a trip to see Rashers the black miniture piggy.
I arrived home and had a phone call from Beryl .When I told her Mats second name was tree she said Oh well he will be very popular wont he chuckie egg. I said haha and then she added do you think he will be allergic to fur .Because mat chopped and looked after fur trees. She said he might even have lots of branches. I told Sophia who came to see me for a coffee after my trip to the opticians she said that Beryl she is a very stupid women and that Donnie is stupid .I said why whats he done and she said he married her and look at her like the springier chicken thinks she is younger than springtime then added she is more like old sock bag I have hanging in my kitchen.
Nice names the other two babies have. Sorry you lost your electric in the wind Amanda its been awful here it blew some branches off the trees over the park.
I loved Glenis Johns in Miranda Kim. my son was named Ashley after Ashley Wilkes in gone with the wind.
Poor Ross I hope she is not in pain today and her tests were ok will be thinking of her after my results.

Sheila ,I hope the problem with your eyes will be treated (if neccessary) and the trouble kept at bay.I know Diabetes can cause problems. I do hope Jessica will cope alright with the new Baby Mat and April.Maybe she is going through those Baby Blues that sometimes kicks in a few days or so after giving birth. It must be difficult for her knowing Mat is not there now to enjoy his new son and also not there for dear April.I'm sure she misses her Daddy terribly.
Well after the hoo ha with my oven .Dinner was a huge success.I give myself a Gold Star lolol
Signing out now as I am going to watch Strangeways ,and then to bed. Night Night xx
I hope Fiona is home safe and sound.

Morning All Thankfully the weather is much calmer this morning with bright sunshine. I woke very early this morning so am checking my messages before I go out to TIC. Lots of talk of volcanic ash on the radio. Hope it does not effect hubbies return on Sunday. Typically he went to France on the train but is returning by air!! I hope Fiona had a safe trip back home as the wind was horrendous yesterday. Went to York last night and there were branches down on the road. Another interesting session at the ARCHIVES yesterday dealing with muster rolls from 1766.I am really enjoying my involvment with this project. Back later after I have done my bit for the town :-)

Morning All,
Nice and bright today after yesterdays wild and windy weather. Washing on the line and hoping to get up that tunnel today or do a bit more ironing.
Sheila I hope you gave that lovely new baby a big hug from aunty Mel and April to. So sorry to hear you are having trouble with your eyes. Mum had cateracts but not diabeties. Horrid when things are to do with your eyes. OH had cateracts due to a stone hitting him in the eye which came up from a strimmer just before we were together. He had a new lens put in his eye a few years ago. Made a great difference to him.
David I would hate to have to move now as I have soooooo much junk it would take me forever to sort it all out. OH is always saying he hopes he goes before me and then he won't have to deal with it!!
Jane you must have managed to open the pics I sent to you the second time. I was sending them from my desktop the first time but I managed to get into a file for the second lot. I am sorry I don't send them to everyone but they are so huge and take ages to load and I don't have the time.
Arc all ready for the chicks now but I don't think anymore are going to hatch. Henny has two and I think it is one boy and one girl.

Morning Anne. I think the Ash is affecting Scottish airports quite badly. Not sure about the airports further south. Your project does sound really interesting. How long will you be doing it for?
I have to go and Jump Start Fitz at 11 o'clock (well not Fitz ,but his car) lol.It seems he has lost power steering, windscreen wipers and all sorts. It must be some electrical problem.I will follow him to the garage.Personally I think he should have it towed in.
A bright and breezy day.Thank goodness it is not as bad as yesterday. I think I need some Breakfast BBL

Hello all,
I was writing an epic on here earlier and I got very emotional after reading Sheila's post, that I thought I had better delete it all.
Weather forecast for tomorrow wild, destructive storms and heavy rain - not good!!!! You are all getting a blast over there, stay safe.
Frank I get very cranky too, don't be so hard on yourself. This is a bit all over the place, I know. I will be more lucid later, I promise.
Cheers, Kim

Hi all,
I am offering Frank a free punching bag. We have a pink and black one hanging in the garage with matching gloves, never been used, truly!!!! I love watching medical shows too. RPA is a weekly show (Royal Prince Alfred) Hospital that I have been viewing since 1996. You get to know the surgeons who appear on a regular basis and appreciate their skill.
Jane you make me laugh so much. How does one faff - you will have to send me a diagram, lol. I can imagine it though. Hope Fiona has a safe trip home too. I can remember the havoc the last volcano caused with the flights and the strong winds.
Anne I would love to be there with you going through those records. One day I might be able to volunteer at the local library or do some study through the NSW Genealogy Society. That's my aim :-)
As you can see I am working my way backwards through the posts, so just bear with me for a while.
Sheila I hope I didn't upset you with my comment, but your post struck a chord with me and I got very misty. Firstly, I love Glynis Johns with her beautiful eyes and that striking accent. I am sorry to read about your eyes and hope you receive the best care and attention. I am thinking of you.
My eldest brother had MS and was diagnosed with schizophrenia in the mid 1970's. I went to NZ in 1979 for a holiday and came home to a house full of flowers. He had committed suicide whilst I was away, nothing to do with his health, but he'd just come to the end of his tether for personal reasons. The illness had so much stigma attached to it back then and for many years. I'm glad the public is far more educated now and there is less ignorance out there. People do lead normal, happy lives as your daughter and son-in-law have proven so lovingly. Jessica doesn't know me at all, but please send her my best wishes from the other side of the world and lots of love to these two little children. I do hope I haven't offended you with my outpourings.
Look for the signs, my middle brother and I were always getting them when Ron died. Some were subtle and others were very obvious. We were always comparing notes. It was a comfort to know he was there with us through our early grief. My mother thought I was drinking too much sherry when I tried to talk to her about it.
Mandy Jane and Annx thank for your comments on the photos. My two children were really chuffed when I told them. The black and white cat is so loving and she really "chills" on the cat stand.
Shirley the rain is coming down outside and there's lots of boom crash opera going on. Hope your weather improves.
Is a BT Vision Box the same as a set top box to receive the high definition signals? If so, our government is rolling them out for all the aged pensioners. B@@@@y hell, they could do with a help to pay for the electricity to be able to use them in the first place. Hasn't gone down too well with the public, as there have been so many failed schemes and lives have been lost with the home insulation and installation by dodgy contractors. Now you know why I wanted to swap Prime Ministers.
David good luck with your move. Where are you going to if you don't mind me asking?
That about covers it, I hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Hi to Maureen.
I am off to watch a bit of tv, not much on and I have been on here too long. Might pick up on the movie I was watching last night on DVD; saw the beginning, slept through the middle and woke up at the end. It was Dragonwyck with Vincent Price and Gene Tierney. Has anyone seen it?
It is now 11.13pm. Good night all. Frank I hope you have a more restful night.

Have just got some weeding done after sorting Fitz and his car.He is blooming hopeless.I asked him eventually if he had Home recovery. He didn't know,so I made him go and have a look.'OH yes I do " he says looking very surprised. So I said "get on the phone now then".Anyway the chap came and the Alternator (what ever that is) has gone.So the car has been towed off to the garage.Sorted ! lol
It is a lovely afternoon and I am just about to get some washing out.At least today I won't lose it off the line with the wind ! :D

Much better day here too so will get out in the garden for a couple of hours.
It's a good job you went to the opticians Sheila, they will keep an eye ....... pardon the pun ...... on you now. My dad had glaucoma as a result of diabeties and he needed to put drops in his eyes everyday. Such a shame Jess doesn't live a bit closer to you, sounds like she could do with some of her own family around, she must be feeling a bit low at the moment. My daughter is feeling a bit weepy, seems Harry is not settling and cries a lot, we had a long chat which I think helped, as she thought she was doing something wrong. No, all babies cry, just some cry more than others. Has it stopped raining yet Shirl. I bet in a few weeks you'll be getting glorious sunshine.

Afternoon All,
Shelia thanks for your good wishes for Ros. When she came back yesterday afternoon, her eyes were very large and dark. Settled down during the evening, and are fine this morning. Will have to wait for the results.
Going to get an "ESTIMATE" for having a haircut. It grows so quickly, as does my nails, forever cutting them !!!
Went round the "ESTATE" this morning, and found a baby frog in one of the bags of potato's how it got there, I don't know.
Jane, Glad you had a success with your meal, some of your cooking seems very interesting, the way you use all these different herbs and spices. Ros won't eat anything with spices as it upsets her mouth and her planalitus (I don't think thats right). But you know what I mean.
Much better morning here also. The lawn is covered in baby cherries, and pears. Leaves everywhere. Will get them all up with the mower. in the next day or so.
Kim, If things get on top of you, please feel free to let off steam amongst us, we have all done it. I know I feel better knowing someone will read it and not JUDGE you for what you say. THATS WHAT WE DO ON HERE !!!
Just tried to SUBMIT and an error page came up. Will leave it for a little while and try to submit again.

No problems this end Frank.Mind you I haven't been on it much today.
I don't use spices really in my cooking .Some of them can do funny things to my tum(I say no more) lol.But I do love my herbs.Simple Pasta tonight. Maybe your little frog took a big leap into the potato bag!
Shirl when you just said Apple Blossoms I read it as ......ample boosom (sp) lol I'm glad you have a bit of sun at long last.Just done the watering ,but will leave the front pots for Chris. He can carry the watering cans tonight. My thumbs are hurting today.
Kim,I'm so sorry that your Brother took his own life.I can't imagine what that must have been like for you going back home and finding out like that.He was dealt a double blow with MS and Schizophrenia. As you say it is something that people are more understanding about these days and that is mainly because it is talked about now.
Have we heard from Fiona today?
