Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Jun 2011 10:03

I had that trouble last week, not being able to get onto GR. I went to my messages from one of you and just clicked on the GT logo at the top of the page, or by the message. It is all to do with this new icons they have put on here for us to use I expect.

Morning Pat,Mel ,Kim and all
Again I slept until about 3.30 ,woke up ,lay there just getting more and more fidgity,so got up for a wee, back to bed.Could I sleep? Nope.Read my book then listened to the Dawn Chorus which starts at 4 every morning.I love to hear it but I spend the time trying to work out all the different birds so don't go to sleep again. Then they all go quiet and I'm wide awake lolol
I then tend to nod off just after 5.30 when Chris gets up !

It is a beautiful morning.Started off wall to wall sun,but there are a few clouds about now.
I think I might pick the rest of the baby carrots today as I spotted a rabbit sniffing around the edge of the chicken wire yesterday and I want to get them first lol

I bought a couple of pairs of trousers the other week and have had to take them in to be shortened.£10.50 per pair !!.I wish I could sew well enough to do them myself!! I never did like needlework. My old friend Ruth,(my 92 year old Primary School teacher) always remembers the skirt I made in her class lolol.
See you later :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Jun 2011 10:33

Blimy Jane where did you take them Harrods?? Cleaners usually do shortening. :-S

Fiona

Fiona Report 7 Jun 2011 10:45

Morning Jane.
That is expensive just to shorten a pair of trousers, luckily my OH does mine he's a wizz on the machine. that's if I can't get any in Mar*s their the best shop I find for short trousers.
You all know that daughter no 2 has a fashion degree now but she doesn't like sewing lol that's why she changed to the business side of it.
So I have given up asking her if she'll do any sewing for me. Poor dad gets all the mending jobs in our family ;-)

Rain arrived Mel, was going to hang a few T.towels and a table cloth out on the line but by the time I got to the line it had started to rain.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Frank Report 7 Jun 2011 11:11

Morning to one and all,

Am i missing something or have we a new bird on the block (PAT) ???? Or is it the Pat from Raunds ???? There's me getting excited to have another one for my harem !!!! How are you my love, and the family, all back at school now are they ????

Oh What a night. could hardly keep my eyes open, went in to bed 10.30pm Started the ol" shake ratttler and roll" Could not get settled. Ros came in about 12.30 She got in as I got out. Made a pot of tea and watched TV till 4.30am Went back and managed to sleep till 8.30am. Ros bought my cup of tea. and I layed and listened to the radio till 9.45..

Ros is at one of her fund raising meetings this morning, It all kicks off on Saturday. So she will be there on her chair behind the stall, selling like mad hope they raise a lot of money.

Looks like the heavens are about to open. Black as your hat out there.!!!! Mel, The best place for you will be the tunnel today, much cheaper than shopping :-D :-D :-D.

Have you all noticed how the cost of GAS and ELECTRICTY has lept up since last year. I had my new D/D yesterday. and I have used over £600.00 of extra G & E so my D/D is going up to £193.00 per month for the next six months. to bring it back in line, Where is it all going to end ????

Ann, When we were kids. We would dring at the local horse trough, that had a cup on a chain and a button to press to get water. I can honestly say, I have only every bought water when abroad. A nice glass of cold water from the tap. Nothing to beat it. !!!!

Frank

Frank Report 7 Jun 2011 11:13

Forgot to ask, when is David's move taking place ????

Jane

Jane Report 7 Jun 2011 11:20

Harrods ! .Mel it IS the dry cleaners. The price of having 2 pairs shortened was the cost of one pair lol.Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a machine so I have no choice other than to pay that ridiculous price.
I like the sound of your OH Fiona .He sounds a dab hand at all sorts.
What I am good at is sewing Chesters soft toys when the seams split. In fact one of his fluffy bones is waiting to be stitched now.
Chester is really funny when I do an 'operation' on his toys.He sits on the floor in front of me and watches me stitch lol.I keep having to say "WAIT".Then when I put the needle and thread away he walks off with his toy in his mouth and gives it a good licking.

I am keeping an eye on the weather.Just put a whole load of washing on the line ,and now there are some big black looking clouds hovering. :-P :-P :-P

Forgot to say I put the pecked chick back in with the two mums yesterday night and it was going round with the others quite happily yesterday. Was'nt being pecked at all so Henny must have forgotten and I know they can't count ;-)

MEgirl Report 7 Jun 2011 12:49

Mel that's good news about the little chick A happy ending I hope and back with the family.

Jane my uncle was a sail maker at the docks and he used to come out and hem all the sheets and do any sewing for my mother. She could only mend and sew on buttons and that's about where I'm at, although I have hemmed a couple of pairs of Jeans in my time. One of Joel's mates has a grandmother who will take up hems for $5 an item. She has done a lot of work for us over the years. Must be a local in your area that will do some sewing for a couple of pounds. They are scoundrels to charge that much :-( :-(

Frank you could have joined me. I was watching some prison show and fell asleep. Keith woke me after 1.00 am to go to bed and then kept me awake with his snorting and snoring and kicking and sighing. Bloody 4.00 am and I'm still listening to my music twice over!!!!! The cat was moaning and licking and rolling on my feet. What a pair!!

Maureen I like that plant. We do have Clematis over here, but I don't know about that colour. I did have them growing in Victoria, but I'm sure the flower was smaller.

Off to watch tv, not much on tonight. BBL, Cheers, Kim

Frank Report 7 Jun 2011 13:12

Ros is back, she has some sewing machine projects to do, before the weekend. Making holders for spectacals and finishing off some shoulder bags. She will turn up your trousers Jane. £10.49 a pair HA HA HA. it does seem a lot of money for such a small job.

Washing Machine packed up yesterday. It blew a fuse in the box. Reset the trip, the machine on light comes on, but no programme lights. Have rung the Washing Machine man. (MORE EXPENCE)

Having a bit of Liver and onions for dinner tonight, with creamy mash and tinned peas. (They taste better with liver than Frozon or fresh peas)

We keep getting showers here,

Kim, That is why I wear EAR PLUGS it shuts out all the noises from Ros !!!!

So pleased the little chick is settled in Mel, you don't like to see them being bullied. One of mine was always being set on by the big hen.

Afternoon everyone,

Lovely sunny day again , washing blowing well on the line .

Gosh Jane ,what a price for shortening trousers !!! what ever would it cost to have a new zip put in something .!!
You should see Toby when i wash his toys and peg them on the line to dry !! he sits under neath them watching them dry lol

My word Frank, that's a lot of gas and electric !!!!! you'll have to cut down on all the roast Lamb dinners you're using the oven to much !LOL

Hubby's home today , the lady he was supposed to do some work for decided to go away for the weekend without telling him ,so he couldn't go in the shop in case she had left the alarm on !!! she wasn't answering her mobile ,so i have one angry hubby here today as he wanted to get the job done .

Off with hubby to have a look at one of his jobs he's been working on , knocking two big rooms into one BIG kitchen ,its in a big farmhouse , today is his payday for the work !!!!!!!

Well what is a matter with the site I typed a message and it sent it before I was finished and then disapeared.

I was married at twenty one 1960 June 4th and if anyone asked me how come your married so long I say Oh I could not be bothered to divorce my husband. if they told my hubby he would say oh did she say that end of subject.Thats why I do it it shocks a few locals gets them talking.my husband is so half soaked he would not notice I had done it.

Well I was up early about 7.30 out at the Lickeys for Beryl and Donnie we were taking his little nephew to the Safari Park 13 miles away but it poured with rain when there all morning the little chap was so wet and fed up sheltering out the rain we left and will have to try another day. But later on it will be packed out. Now its stopped raining but is dull now I am home but the suns coming through .

We were coming out and the last thing we saw was the baboon they all ran off after dopey Don blasted apart from one who sat on the windscreen with red mis shaped bottom scratching right on my side and was picking flees and flicking them.Donnie thought it really funny and Beryl said Oh Don he reconises you look he is smiling at you when it turned round. Little Harry who is seven said he is better looking than uncle Donnie Aunty Beryl .Beryl roared with laughter and the baboon was copying her throwing his arms up and down

I am nervous of baboons I had a arial broken and once my ho lost a wing mirror. Beryl was laughing at what Harry said all the way home. She said oh that is so funny I will pay the kid to come and live with us Donnie. Donnie said nothing until we got to the lights and Harry wanted a bag of chips he shot out the car to get them and Beryl told me to drive off however I didnt when will they grow up. Anyway I told them I have to take my car for repair so I do not think they will come round for a while.

I do agree what about wasting water I went to a fete before I went to Wales and they had all these bottles of water and the little lads were buying them and throwing them at each other about 12 bottles of water were wasted plus everyone around was getting wet. Not one parent did or said anything.

My kitchen gets a mess when I am cooking. Jane but all your dinners sound lovely most times .I sit drooling on the comp.

Hello to Pat. thats another new name.

Jess was amused about Kim thinking Beryl was her in law and Donnie she said I like Aunty Beryl and Uncle Donnie they were nice to April when Mat died if you remember she stayed with them and Beryl dressed April up in beads but April picked up some dreadful language if I remember. But she does not approve of the age gap and Beryl planting a lipstick kiss on donnies cheek .Jess did say do those pair really sleep together. I said
yes and she went YUK.

Hello Amanda . is it horrid weather like here with bright spells. But its windy. .Did you brave your pool yet. I have found it chilly.
My dogs just had 360 worth of dentsal treatment and that is my holiday gone up the spout one hundred last year it seems he got infections in his gums. Thank goodness Teddy is ok the one dog I adopted. His teeth are really strong like when he drapes his jaw round my
hand sometimes when I am getting something off him. it really hurts.

Chester protecting his toys Jane so cute. when you mend them.
Mel thank you for saying nice to see me back.
I want time for myself now so much to catch up on.
Amanda I did do one more chaper on my Witches Brew. The witches had a meeting in the village to get rid of a trouble making women by painting all her toadstools in the garden blue and she fled the village. However I decided it was daft and ripped it up. I need some new plots any ideas. I get my ideas more in Wales so many of the old locals remind me of old witches with these dark little parlours in the cottages full of spinning wheels and old stuff. .I saw a stone in one ladies kitchen on the fireplace
it said

Eat me now eat me not
brew me in the cooking pot.
In you go stir it well
cook until you make a spell.

I asked her what it meant and she said Oh it was a stone I got from
Chedder caves one cave was used by witches. I was really chuffed .
At the school another chapter of my book was requested when the kids were asked whoes story they wanted .They settled though for Mrs Jarandos Magic Buns an Indian Story.

i stuck my head in the charity shop door and said hello to a chinese man who tried to sell me a woc. I thought gosh it was rusty and if I had been in the shop thats one thing that would have gone. I notice all the lovely clothes they used to have have disapeared. I have been asked to collect for charity again but think I will let someone else have a go my years been hectic my effort last year was good so they cannot moan at me. Your not surposed to tout for business in a charity shop either chinky chinerman was naughty to do that.

Sorry about Shirls relative I thought things were improving for her.

Kim my nephews having a problem with his house its built on stilts and they are rotting and its costing him a fortune to have it put right.

If I wasn't already busy with the ironing I can see an opening for another little business. I'm quite good at sewing, although if my needlework teacher was still around she would be speechless, all she ever let me do was knit dishcloths on those gigantic needles with a material very close to string. I was very naughty at school and was really only interested in my friends and having a natter and of course the boys that used to hang around the school gate ......

Keep at the book Sheila, if it's anything like your posts it will be a good read, and I for one would love to read it.
