I have a funny poem that Fitz's Step Grandfather wrote back in the 1930's.I think it is great.
It is about a lady who was a singer called Dame Clara Butt (I must google her).I will put it up on my next post. :-D

This Poem is obviously taking the mickey of Dame Clara Butt. She was 6ft 2" and a larger than life woman lol.As I said it was written by `Fitz's Step Grandfather who I think knew this lady
FOR DAME CLARA BUTT

A Mammoth went a-marketing
She bought a disused tram
She said"This should do splendidly
For Darlings little pram"
She took it home, pressed baby in,
Despite protesting squeals
Only to find her offspring's weight
Had buckled all the wheels.

A Mammoth went a-marketing
An Elephant she bought
She said"A love of tiny things
too early can't be taught"
She gave it to her little girl
Who took it up to bed
All night she clasped it lovingly
Next morning it was dead.

A Mammoth went a-marketing
She bought the Ritz Hotel
She said"We need a summer-house
And this should answer well"
She took it home ,and found of course,
The building far too small,
And so she hurried out again
And bought The Albert Hall

A Mammoth gave a concert,
All the Nations in a ring
Encircled those colossal feet
To hear their Clara sing
She drew in one portentous breath
Emitted one great roar
Our Solar system's disarranged,
The Earth exists no more...................Amen lolol

Fitz's step grandfather was called Major Patrick Beynon. He was up in the Old Bailey on charge with having relations with powdered and painted men!!!! lol.I think if you google Patrick Beynon the court case will come up.
Fitz has given me permission for me to tell this.
Lordy Lordy ! Fitz doesn't half have an interesting family!! ;-) ;-) ;-)

Another busy day withTIC and hospital shop.Welcome Pat and hope you enjoy the chat. Glad others are having trouble with the site but my front page seems to have more information on it including numbers of post etc,
The weather here has been quite warm with sunny showers but it has meant that I do not have to water nextdoor tonight.
I hope everyone has a better sleep tonight
No more news

Frank Report 7 Jun 2011 20:27

Sorry Mandy, Trust me to leave someone out. A little spending money, does not mean a new outfit :-D :-D :-D

Ann, please remind me what does TIC stand for. I know you do a lot of hospital shop work. I have thought of volunteering fot something like that. But it will mean Ros having to take me and bring me back. Would be very expensive with the cost of petrol. and her, not being able to go anywhere when I was working. I did offer my services to the Heart Charity shop. They took my name and number. But I never heard back from them !!!!

Just heard from our friends who own a place in Teneriffe, the weather is very warm and sunny. they are there till 23rd June. They also have a place in Florida, and Hastings. He will not settle down in this village,so bought these places which they use on a regular basis. Oh to have money !!!! We will have our holiday in sunny Blisworth, as we have for the last few years.

Where's Aunty Mel,??? Hope she has got all her jobs done in the tunnel, and Mr Mel is getting on allright with the NEW BUILD.

Evening All,

Hi Pat/Patricia, nice to have you join us. We still have the odd flurry of memories at times, so just add any you can think of.

Communal showers......makes me shudder!!! That dash to get through and get your bits covered up with your towel. If you hadn't got much to see you were embarrassed and if you were well developed you were embarrassed.....so we were all embarrassed!!! lol With the PE teacher watching too.......really cringeworthy.

PS I think Frank meant to say 'Young at Heart'!!! lolol

Mandy I can just imagine Toby looking up at his toys.......wondering when they learned to fly!!! lol I can just picture Chester too...... he would have his eyes glued to Jane mending his toy.......and wanting his toy back ASAP !!!! lol

I must look that up Jane.....how fascinating Fitz's family is.......much more interesting than my lot!!

Well I'm off to see the Fairy Jobmother now......I enjoyed the last series.

Jane

Jane Report 7 Jun 2011 21:38

Oooh! don't remind me of the showers.Weren't they awful.I seem to remember there were lot of 'notes' from parents saying so and so couldn't shower that week lol.......all written by the girls!!.Miss Pemberthy was always watching.
I wonder if the boys hated the showers as much as us girls.
I think some of us girls would try and take a long time changing and hope that the teacher hadn't noticed we hadn't been through the shower.

I'm watching some programme about young Doctors now.Just my thing lol
;-) ;-)

Evening all
Went for a bath earlier and for some reason the hot water was not very hot , OH having to fix it, something to do with the boiler :-S

Anne , I still can't get on to GR through my front page, in fact I have no front page, just managing to get on here through any link I can.

Time for a hot drink to relax then I'm off to bed.

We have the council road works laying new tarmac all over the main road that runs into our street, it was really bad with pot holes from the last bad winter we had, unfortunately you can not use your car between the hours of 8am -4pm unless you park it some where else , a few of our neighbours have taken their cars to relatives who live near by, and walk to the car in the morning. work is due to finish by Friday, I hope it finishes earlier than that, Daughter no 1 had to park her car in one of the near by streets today and walk with Sofia to my house ,

I'm going for my milk now, will be back tomorrow,
NIGHT NIGHT :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Jun 2011 11:17

Morning All,

So nice you have joined us Pat.

Weather here is sunny and showers. I think we had quite a lot of rain last night.

I was working up on the border yesterday while OH fitted the new filter on the pond so was'nt disturbed too much as he was occupied.

Pat I am the one in sunny Devon!

Sheila sounds like you had a good laugh at the wildlife park with Donnie and Beryl and Harry. What a big bill for the vet for cleaning your dogs teeth!! Thats when I am glad I don't have dogs anymore. I will stick to my chickens.

I have put the GR link in my Favorites and get in that way now after the trouble I had a few weeks ago. My site still dos'nt work properly though. When I get my tree up it comes out ok at first then the space where you type a name to look for someone on your tree jumps to just behind the first name up on the tree and the cursor won't let you put a name in properly and it takes ages to backspace the first name etc.

Should go shopping today as no more beer for oh!! Just managed to find him one for last night, that I had hidden away in the uti room.

We never had the experience with showers at school so I was lucky!! The only time we had to go through showers was at swimming lessons at a local baths. Then we had our swimsuits on so that was'nt so bad but the showers were really cold.

My dad taught me to swim by taking me to the lido at Snaresbrook on a Sunday morning. Frank will probably know of it. When I was a teenager we used to go there on summer evenings and climb the fence and get in and swim in the dark!! We had a great time. Told my parents that we knew the keeper and he let us in when the pool was closed!!
