Yes, it is really pouring now as well. Poor Hannah, it will be squelchy in the morning I bet.

Well, I'm cock- a- hoop over my family tree!! lol I've just got back the furthest I've managed on any part of it by adding 3 generations!! It seems one of my direct ancestors was a Quaker who went to America in 1714.......imagine sailing to America in 1714!!! I found an article about him and his family and it said he was one of the first elders of the Richland Preparative Meeting In 1725. He was praised for being a constant, zealous attendant of meetings of worship and discipline!! I told OH and typical, he said he recognised the discipline trait! Even more typical he said if I was a Quaker, would it mean there would be more o*ts!!! lol, lol ;-) ;-)

Better be off to bed now........I was still awake at 3.30 am this morning......when the dawn chorus started! I suppose I will lie awake thinking about this Quaker man now travelling to America on the high seas in a boat with big sails. Night night xx.

Morning Ann and All,

It rained like anything here last night as I was sitting watching a bit of Glastonbury!! I was thinking of Hannah but the crowd all had smiles on their faces and were singing along with the groups.

Ann that is interesting about your ancestor and how nice to find an artical about him.

Well it is still very wet in Devon today and OH has to go out to ring for a wedding this morning.

I have'nt let the chickens out yet so off to do that now.

Morning All
Well after a very wet night here ,the rain seems to have gone and the blue sky is quickly coming through. It feels muggy already.

Ann,how exciting finding that out about your ancestor.Did you get any sleep after discovering that??I don't think I would have. The conditions on the ship would have been dreadful in 1714.Did he take family with him ?Ironing Board is up and waiting for me.But it can hang on as I need to go to Tes**

Frank did you say Ros is having her next injections on Monday?

Frank

Frank Report 25 Jun 2011 11:07

Morning All,

Home alone as usual on Saturday morning, seeing her friend Martinna, will be going round Morris### as we speak.

Ros went out with a friend who has just returned from their appartment in Tenneriffe. She needed some shopping so Ros went along for the ride. While they were out, a Paramedic pulled up outside the house. Went dashing in next door (the clumsey neighbour) 10 minutes later an Ambulance turned up, While they were in there, Ros turned up. She nearly had a heart attact. She thought is was ME. It turned out that Valerie didn't feel well and thought she was going to be sick. Tony went to get a bucket, BUT TOO LATE. bought up a load of BLOOD all over the furniture and carpet. Took her in hospital, as the latest is they have given her a blood transfusIon, and keept waking her every half hour during the night to take her blood pressure. Looks like thet will keep her in. They think it might be a ulcer.

Funny ol' day here again, No sun, plenty of high cloud, with a cool breeze.. I was going to clean the windows this morning, but I will wait till I get my new STEPS>!!!!! Further to fall. :-D :-D :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jun 2011 12:10

Now you be carefull on those new steps Frank. We don't want to hear that you have had another fall.

I do hope your neighbour wil be ok. At least she is in the best place for her where they can keep a constant eye on her progress. What a shock though for her husband. It sounds really nasty.

Frank

Frank Report 25 Jun 2011 12:34

I have been a busy boy. I have put two old fishing reels on Ebay together with an old Enamel "PLAYERS PLEASE SIGN. I might get a few bob for them. Who knows.

I promie I will be carefull on the new steps when they arrive.

Is anybody going off on their Holidays, and where to. I suppose we will stay in sunny Bliswoth. I thought abour a coach trip for 4/5 days, but Ros wouldn't be able to sit in a coach all day. It would be nice though to get away for a few days break.
Going to get a coffee and a bit to eat.

Jane Report 25 Jun 2011 13:09

Frank, you will have to superglue yourself to your new steps lol.
Sounds a bit like a burst ulcer your neighbour has.I hope she will be ok.I can just imagine poor Ros when she saw the ambulance outside!!.I bet she felt sick thinking it was for you.
Well the sun that was coming out earlier disappeared and it is now all cloudy. We have had a little drizzle, but now it seems to be getting brighter again.Oooh! the sun is coming out now.It is pretty muggy though.
I can imagine the steam coming off everyone at Glastonbury today lol

Frank have you ever sold a car on eb*y?Hannah is going to be selling hers and someone suggested putting it on there as she will probably get more for it.

Annx Report 25 Jun 2011 13:40

Afternoon All,

It has been raining here this morning and it was pouring down last night.......all the garden nicely watered.

Frank, what a scare for Ros........I'm not surprised she thought it was for you with all the capers you get up to!!! Your poor neighbours too. It would be really scary to see all that blood. Hope she is improving.

I hope Hannah doesn't get your car stuck in the mud Jane. Are they all parked on the grass/mud? I shouldn't think she has had much sleep up to now........living on the adrenalin! Is there 'organised' food or are there lots of primus stoves. It is an experience she will never forget though isn't it.

OH has more minutes to write up so will be on here soon. I am popping out to a garden centre that has a Julian G*aves.......I want some mixed nuts.

Mel, I have always wondered this........are there music sheets to learn bell ringing.......how do you know when to ring your bell? I hope it stays fine for the wedding down there.

Jane

Jane Report 25 Jun 2011 13:46

I'm trying not to think about my car Ann.People think I was crazy to let her take it.
May have to use yours on Monday .I have the use of hers and the air con is pants. It is supposed to be hot on Monday.Would you mind?
Do you have a name for your ancestor.I was looking up Richland Preparative Meeting just now .

I am still looking at that ironing board. It is beckoning me lol. :-S :-S :-S

Fiona Report 25 Jun 2011 14:46

Afternoon All
Still tired so taking it easy.
Went to see the doctor yesterday told her how I felt, she took a blood test to check the white cells but didn't think there would be any good result because it's only been 4 weeks, need to wait another 3 weeks and have another one, she won't take a blood test for the Helicobacter because she knows it will be positive, I have had it too many times now so it's going to be in my system, she is going to arrange an appointment at the hospital for me to have a endiscope (sp) so they can find out why I have so much heartburn and why I need to take Gavis### all the time.
She did give me an alternitive to Gavis### but unfortunatly like most medication I take, I had side effects of headaches, so that is out,
I also had to hand in a sample from the back passage, so to check for any infection there. it's just a matter of waiting till the end of next week and I then can phone for results,

Oh came home yesterday and we sat down and discussed what food he could get for me at the shops, like low fat foods, etc, so he went shopping this morning and bought in pleanty of non citris fruits, rice cakes, low fat cheese and things I can snack on He does most of the cooking in the house anyway, so it helps when your not well not to have to cook , pleanty of chicken and fish is on the menu,
I think having to give up chocolate, coffee and Ice cream will be the hardest lol :-(

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jun 2011 14:54

Ann it depends on what kind of ringing you do. I only did Call Change ringing which is where the person ringing the the treble (1st bell) calls the changes but OH has done the one where you learn the patterns of the bells and also leave a small gap between the first bell and the last bell. Call changes are only rung in Devon really. The other one is Method Ringing so you learn the Method. Very complicated and takes a lot of time to learn. We were taught by some of the best ringers in the country.

This is from Wiki

Method ringing (also known as scientific ringing) is a form of change ringing (the practice of ringing a series of mathematical permutations on tuned bells, rather than a melody). In method ringing, the ringers are guided from permutation to permutation by following a specific algorithm, called a method. Where the treble bell follows exactly the same pattern as the other bells it is called a principle. The underlying mathematical basis is intimately linked to group theory.

The practice originated in England and remains most popular there today; in addition to bells in church towers, it is also often performed on handbells.

So you see why I did'nt do that one :-S

Jane

Jane Report 25 Jun 2011 15:28

Mel I tried a bit of bell ringing at the Church when I was young and in the choir.
I got blisters lol.
Fiona you do sound as though you are suffering.Lets hope your endoscopy will show some light on the problem.Good job you have a wonderful hubby.
I was beavering away at the ironing and suddenly realised I had to get food ready to go in the slow cooker. So ironing on hold while I browned of the chicken, fried shallots with stock, wine, and pesto and a little flour. It is now cooking and the kitchen looks a tip :-S I better go and clear it all up before getting back to the blooming ironing :-S :-S :-S

Afternoon everyone,

Muggy here too, black clouds about ,looks more like rain .
Pools filling up , the water is freezing !!! :-S little ones thought they could go in it !! Spa is heating up nicely so they'll be in there tomorrow .

Fiona, i do hope you soon feel better , must be so uncomfortable having heartburn like that ,nice that hubby cooks ,don't suppose you feel much like cooking anyway .

Frank, what a shock for poor Ros seeing an ambulance standing outside the front , does she have a mobile so you could have warned her it wasn't for you ? hope your neighbor will be alright .

Hope your new steps have a good handrail to hold onto, one step higher !!! doesn't sound to good to me !!!!!!!

Wow ,Ann , you've done really well getting that far back with your tree ,wouldn't it be lovely to fine a photo, now that would be the icing on the cake !! :-)

Hubby's sorting out the guttering on the shed ,we bought a water butt ,so he's trying to pipe it up !!

Time for a cuppa, got to keep the worker happy .

Yes and my aircon is working fine Jane, so as long as you can direct me.......!! lol

The Quaker ancestor (my 7x gt grandfather) is William Nixon born 1680 in Lidlington, Bedfordshire, England. His grandson who I am descended from is the one who started naming a child Luther and that has carried down the generations to my uncle. I have also discovered that a Lutheran church was built in the area, so maybe the grandson changed to the Lutheran Church. I think the 2 religions had similarities. It would explain why all these Luthers I have found in my tree and that have puzzled me for ages.

Mandy, it is so frustrating, I don't even have a photo of my grandmother who descended from him and I never saw her as she died when dad was aged about 15. All I know is she had coppery, corn coloured hair like my sister. I know more about this chap born in the 1600s!!!

Thanks for that Mel, very interesting. It sounds as if bellringing can be quite complicated to me.

Hannah just called to let me hear Paulo Nutini.(a lot of you might not have heard of him) I have his CD.He is a bit weird but I like him.I think it is a good time weather wise now at Glastonbury so hopefully it will be a more comfortable night for them all ,and they can can enjoy the bands without the rain.
Heck she has just called again Bless her .She probably thinks I can hear it as clear as a bell.................Nope.!!!! I can hear the singing ,but a bit garbled and muffled.
I am now watching a Kylie concert.Poor Chris thinks I have lost the plot.He likes his classical music, and I like the rock ,pop and the raucous stuff. ;-) ;-)

Annx Report 25 Jun 2011 21:23

I hadn't heard of him Jane, but I just had a listen to him....... a nice voice.

Thorpe Lubenham gardens are open tomorrow Jane, including the Hall gardens. We might go and have a look if it isn't too hot/wet and we have more energy than today!! lol OH turned in half an hour ago so I think I will do the same. Hope Hannah is enjoying tonight in the dry!

That's a good idea buying in some foods that will be kinder to your tum Fiona.......you won't be tempted to stray into foods that will aggravate things then.

Night, night everyone.....xx

Hello everyone,

Last two days have been blue and sunny. Yesterday went off a real treat. So fabulous to see these girls again after so long. They haven't changed at all, maybe louder and rounder, but just the same. They could hear us at the end of the street - all that chatter and cackling!!!! Some of the girls brought old autograph books and photo albums. Keith kept us well fed and watered and even sat down to listen to the stories. Everyone agreed that I have a really wonderful husband and I'm so lucky <3 Goodness I never got up to half of their antics!!! Must have been tucked up in bed whilst all this was going on - my parents were pretty strict though :-( I will send through a couple of photos. Someone suggested a pub crawl for the next get-together, ahhhhhhhh will give that one a miss!!!!

Jane I was reading about the U2 protestors that were arrested at Glastonbury - about 30 of them gatecrashed complaining about Bono and his band avoiding paying taxes. I think the police got it under control pretty quickly. Hannah and the mates probably didn't even notice!!!

Frank, thanks for the advice on the books. Keith would be with you on this one, but I'm like Pat and want to give everything away. It would be so much easier, but if we can find a moment one day I'll look into it. He has bought plenty of things on e-Bay and we have ended up sending back some of it :-( Hope your neighbour is on the mend very soon, very frightening for everyone. My dad was always being rushed to hospital with bleeding from the ulcer and he always came home and did the same old things :-S

Pat that's great news that everything is moving forward for you and a new bathroom too. Took me a while to work out that Tracey was Shirl :-S

Annx what a brilliant find :-) No wonder you couldn't sleep!!!!

Anne good that the swelling is going down in your leg

Well, I had better go and fold this washing. Have a great day all.

4.22 pm EST, cheers

Morning all on this wonderful hot morning. It feels good to have the sun on your back again after all the rotten weather we have had lately.

OH out ringing for church. I am just going in the shower and then sort something for dinner tonight.

Kim I am glad that you had a lovely day with your old friends and it certainly seems like you all enjoyed yourselves.

Ann what a find with the old Luther and nice to know where the name came from all those years ago. It is like mums name of Biddy which has gone through the family. That is why I started my tree in the first place as anut Joy wondered where the name came from. We knew mums nan was Maud Biddy but I now have a Biddy Sadler, Biddy Bently, Maud Biddy and Biddy Beech. The Bently one goes back to the 1700's.

Sounds like Hannah is having the time of her life at Glastonbury whether the weather is wet or whether the weather is dry!! Good on her and I do hope she is enjoying herself.

Anne good that the leg is a bit better now.

I wonder how Maureen is getting on with the new shed. I shall expect of pic of it when it is errected.

Mandy I bet the spa and pool gets a lot of use over this weekend now if the weather is as nice there as it is here today.

Frank any news on the neighbour?? Hope they are a bit better today.

Jane when is Hannah back?
