Have you tried a bowl of hot water Jane with lemon juice in it, on high for about 5 mins that sometimes works to get rid of smells in a microwave

Jane

Jane Report 8 Jul 2011 19:18

I'll give that a go right now Fiona. It's making me feel sick as I can smell it even with the door shut :-S :-S

Jane

Jane Report 8 Jul 2011 19:21

Right it is in.Fingers crossed lol

Fiona

Fiona Report 8 Jul 2011 19:22

Jane just thought of another one which might help is a solution of water & vinegar(sp), or sometimes wipe over the micowave with bicarb of soda on a cloth then leave the door open for a while.

Evening everyone ,

If the lemon juice doesn't work , try a little white vinegar ,just wipe some round the inside of the oven .
Been a funny old day here , sunny one minute then heavy showers .

Had a nice surprise this morning ,i had been shopping and when i got back there was a lovely bouquet of flowers laying on the step , son and DIL left them to say thank you for us lending them some money which they have now paid back , there were Sun Flowers, Red Gerbera's ,White Chrysanthemum's and a little white flower that i don't know what they are .

Colds a bit better today ,not been so stuffed up .

Oh i see Fiona's thought of the vinegar !!

Jane

Jane Report 8 Jul 2011 19:43

Fiona it is smelling a lot better after the lemon.I will leave it a while and then try the vinegar.
Is anyone watching the new Cookery programme with Simon somebody?
Fitz knows him.He was a guest at Fitz's wedding (I think).Who doesn't Fitz know lol

Mandy ,that must have been a lovely surprise. It is nice to be appreciated when you have done something to help out(even though you don't expect anything).
Glad you are not so bunged up now.
Just off to have a sniff in the microwave.

Brother's at home Melanie.
For all I know he could be using this site under an AKA
Ive been giving him our family tree from this site for the last year or two.

Ellen's got me worried.
Two weeks from a move into there and she some times utters negative stuff,"could be an unlucky move" etc

Maybe she is too committed to this house, but it's sold.

Jane

Jane Report 8 Jul 2011 20:18

I think Will's Mother must have moved your way from here then Mandy. We actually have some blue sky now :-D :-D.But saying that on the horizon it looks a bit iffy. Not sure which way it is going though.
I am loving the book that I had for my birthday about Childhood in the 60's.Goodness I am reliving my childhood all over again lol It's great :-D.If anyone would like to read it I will be happy to send it on when I have finished.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 8 Jul 2011 20:27

Yes Jane, looks like she moved in just down the road :-D :-D :-D

I'd love to read the book Jane , what's it called ?

Annx

Annx Report 8 Jul 2011 20:56

I've done the lemon juice one Jane and it worked well. Nothing smells worse does it. lol Your book sounds interesting.......any memories in it we have forgotten??

Glad your cold is a bit better Mandy, it's horrid feeling all stuffed up

It has been absolutely pouring down here several times too. I didn't even attempt anything in the garden. We managed to get the chippings between showers and deliver them to FIL. Now I think he wants another bag!!

David I felt like Ellen when I moved into my previous house......I think I'd just got overwhelmed by it all as I moved from a new bungalow into a much bigger old place in need of refurbishment!! It seemed to be bills, bills, bills, and we kept finding things that needed repair but after a few weeks I started to see all the positives and became very glad we moved. I think it may be just a bit of anxiety as it is a big thing to do when you have lived many years in your current home.

Anne I hope you enjoy your steam train trip. I have enjoyed a few holiday breaks at the Bolton Arms at Redmire. We stayed in their converted stables!! lol It is a nice village and I vaguely remember they were restoring some of the railtrack there when we last went......a good few years ago now.

I think you have the right idea Pat, a break from your currently 'few mod cons' home will do you good and help you to cope with the next lap!!

David

David Report 8 Jul 2011 21:29

Thank you Annx.I appreciate your empathy.
Over the last few months the purchase of this bungalow has been on-off-on several times a week.

Now it's bought and paid for and money has been spent uprading it it is disconcerting to be hearing negatives.
We have the rest of out lives to turn it into what we or Ellen choose.
Her current neighbours would only be a few hundred yards away, two streets to be exact.

When the carpet's down and decorating finished we ought be very pleased with it;or let it and move on.

Yes I agree Pat. You will feel much better when you have been away for a bit.

It has'nt rained here today so I put the washing out and it is not too bad now. Watered the tunnel well so I should't have to do it tomorrow So I only have to go and turn the water butt on and it will water the toms for three days. I have a length of special old piping that was here when we moved in. It is a long black poly flat pipe with very tiny holes in one side. It has a stop on the end and the other end is connected to the butt so I turn the tape half on and it does the job for me :-D

Jane

Jane Report 8 Jul 2011 22:17

David, it won't be long before everything is done and dusted and it is all the way you want. Then you can settle and enjoy your new home

I think my book is called A Childhood in the 60's.It's upstairs at the moment by my bed. There was one thing that I hadn't heard of....Lolly Sticks. Bit like Pick up sticks but with old lolly pop sticks.A description of French Skipping.I just remembered the elastic around our ankles, but apparently it then moved further up the legs to make it more difficult.I will have to make a list of things .Like I say anyone can borrow it.I will send it to one of you and it can be passed around.

I think I am ready for bed now.The Microwave is smelling much better, but i think I will give it another whirl tomorrow with either the lemon or vinegar.
That sky is looking a bit dark out there(and not just because it is night time) :-S :-S.I think I better kick Chester out quickly lol
See you all again tomorrow.Night Night xx

Good Morning to one and all
It is a lovely morning with lots of blue sky.I can't believe we are all up.I have been round the garden ,picked the very last of the broad beans and one pea.
I think Chris will dig everything up today or tomorrow.
Tomorrow it is another trip to MK,as James 's computer has been fixed and is ready to pick up.I will trot along too as I have an M&* gift card to spend .James is waiting for a suit he ordered on line.It will be here before noon.Oh I hope it fits!.Then it will be looking for a nice shirt tomorrow.

I 'm just going to get another cup of tea and grab a Banana and go back to bed to read for a little while.BBL

Hi Everyone

I have just hung out the washing but can hear thunder in the distance. We had an enormous thunder storm again yesterday afternoon around 4pm but thankfully it was dry for the trip last evening. We had a splendid time and had lots of samples of Wensleydale cheese and wensleydale beer to try on the outward journey. There were 20 of us in our group and we had a section of carriage to ourselves. There were entertainers on board and they played for us for ages as we were all joining in with the sixites songs. The more beer we drank the louder we sang, it really made for a super atmosphere. The scenery on the way up the dale was spectacular as we watched a storm in the distance.
When we got to Redmire we enjoyed a lovely hog roast and on the return journey were served local icecream. All in all a wonderful evening and lots of money must have been raised for the charity.
Not doing much for the rest of the day as going to watch qualifing for tomorrows race and then the TDF as it is travelling through the area of France in which we often stay :-) :-)
