Today the carpet and underlay was fitted by 3 men
They have done an excellent job.
Pity they didnt take away all the scraps and pieces with them.
Cost me £250 cash for their services whic included all the grippers and plates.
The carpet cost £1308.00

Started moving bags over in the car.
The removal men are booked for Thursday, costing £300
Despite having given loads of stuff awayy to charity shops and neighbours etc there's still a lot to give away.

All this rain is making new gardens grass grow fast. Will have to buy a lawn mower or pay some one to do it on a regular basis.

Tracey enjoy your shopping.

Well I up an dressed and waiting for the workmen again...but not quite a wake.. cleared everything out of the bathroom again.

Well that nice bath I was going to have wasent very enjoyable.!!!

I filled the bath was getting ready went back into the bathroom and some (well quite a lot ) plaster had come off the walls next to the bath and was enjoying a soak....So I had to empty bath clean it again .I then took a large lump of plaster off the wall so that didnt fall in.. had about 4 inches of bath water in the next bath just in and out lol....

David I hope your move goes ok on Thursday....At least you are not living in the house at the moment with all your work going on...

Jane hope all goes well today for James..Enjoy the moment,,I have done this twice myself with 2 of mine...
Seeing you like cleaning lol can you do mine for me please..The dust is everywhere and I also have cobwebs on my lights..,.Im trying to keep up with it but the work is ongoing..

Liz.....When we moved into this house we were in a rented flat..Handed our notice in and then there was a delay of a week on the move.

When my parents died it took nearly a year to sell their bungalow so we had to keep the insurances up on it... at least it was sold as unoccupied.
That was stressful as well...

My last day at school today...so I wont panic if the workmen dont arrive before I leave.
Im away Sat and havent even thought what to take on Holiday,,,I will be rushing around frid like a blue ar~e fly..

When the work is all done I will send photos of the completed work lol...

Maureen after the holidays I will try and find the photo I have of my bother and I on the donkey...You two could be our doubles...

Frank you are busy with your veg garden...My dad used to grow veg..I used to like picking and shelling the peas one for me two for the pot lol

Catch you all later..

Jane I hope today will be a memorable and very happy one for James and your family. Don't forget some photos!

Maureen, Huntsmen are not dangerous, just scary looking and very hairy. He can stay up in his corner, as along as he doesn't get the wanders and come down to my bedroom. Too sick to get on here yesterday - really long day with the doctor and then the trip home.

Mandy I mentioned that operation to my doctor. He knew about it and said it was one of those terrible medical procedures that never worked; that it caused more harm than good. Your poor SIL!!! He has prescribed patches for me to try. I put one on my wrist to stimulate circulation down through the fingers and if that works to then try the other wrist. I'm happy to try anything at this point.

Frank we used to put the dog's food at the back door and the wasps used to gather for a feast. It was dangerous as she got stung one day and had an allergic reaction. Had to feed her inside from then onwards. Poor old Zoe!! I will have to get into action and sort these books out for sale on e-Bay.

Pat hope you're feeling better and have less pain in the muscles. Things moving along well now, watch out for that plaster %3A-D

Shirl have a good day at Ottawa. Hope you find something nice at IKEA.

Hi to everyone I have not mentioned. It is a horrid day here, huge wind gusts and torrential rain. Good day to be inside!!

Off for a cuppa and the news. Lots going on with Rupert Murdoch and his lot. I do like your PM very much; seems to have some character. Yes, I know we can't have him %3A-P %3A-P

Have a good day everyone. Kim 5.20pm EST

Morning Fiona and All,

Well I hope Jane has a good day today and I am sure there will be many a tear shed by proud parents everywhere. Hope the weather is kind to Jane in Canterbury. I went there on a school outing to the Cathedral, such a huge place and very beautifull.

Dull here today and as Frank said a little mizzle in the air.

Pat sorry to here about the bath fiasco. Was probably the hot water steam that brought the other plaster down.

Maureen did you get your pooter sorted? Such a nusiance when something like that happens and you don't know what to do. Hope Ann had the answer for you.

Frank that was good the man helped with your tree branches and cleared them all away for you too. Hope Ros is a bit better today.

Liz, a log house????? I think someone over the way to us built a log house in the woods. I have never seen it but did see some of the wood arriving on a lorry which had a bit of trouble getting down their long rough road through the wood. Where will you live after pulling down the place that is there now??

Hi Shirl hope you had a nice day at Ikea. What did you buy?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Jul 2011 10:48

Morning All,

Overcast here and just been for a BP check at the docs and it was fine so that's good. Back in the garden for me today I think. OH is moving some gravel out of my way first.

Shirl, I must say I love Ik*a........lots of useful storage stuff and I always get my duvets there.

Pat, I think I would have pulled the plaster down first!! You seem to have ended up with a wartime bath, 4 inches of water!! lol My dad never stopped operating wartime baths for us all. I'm sure he timed how long the taps were on filling the bath!! lol No point doing too much cleaning with all the dust about is there, just get the worst up.

I hope it is fine for Jane today and that she gets some good pics of James.

Sorry to hear you were not feeling well Kim. I hope you are a bit better now. It will be good if those patches help you. Your weather sounds pretty awful at the moment and I think it has started to drizzle here, so the washing is staying where it is for now! My OH watched all the Murdoch interview yesterday and I kept popping in. It's awful what has happened but I can't understand them asking some of the questions.........as if anyone at the top of a big organisation can know off the top of their head all the nitty, gritty details. That's what they employ others to do!!

Liz, we stayed in a log cabin near Exeter a couple of years ago. We had booked in the hotel, but they had to upgrade us to one of their log cabins. After 24 hours we both said it would be good as a permanent home, warm and dry and very cosy and quite spacious. I think it is a great idea, but I suppose insurance might be a bit more. We were so impressed we were actually looking a few weeks ago to find one for a break later this year and I saw some have an upstairs too!!

Maureen has her single line spacing back now Mel and is back in action again.

Well, I'd better go and see if this drizzle is enough to keep me indoors. I could do with planting some radish and rocket as well.

Morning once again. (late as usual)

Ros had poped out to post the books I sold on Ebay, and having her nails done. Should be back about 1.30pm.

Mel, The chap who helped me, is very good. If he see me struggling with anything, he will always step in and help. When I phoned him yesterday to thank him, he sounded all shy and bashful. It's nice that you have people around you, that are prepared to help.

I bet Jane will be shedding a few proud tears today. Is Hannah going as well ???? Is she staying over tonight to celebrate with James ????

Sorry to hear things aren't going well for you Kim. Hope things soon improve.

Liz, that is a brave move, building a log cabin. But as you say, will be easier to keep warm and less housework. That can't be bad %3A-D %3A-D %3A-D

Sorry Shirl, Trust me to get it wrong %3A-%28 %3A-%28 %3A-%28 Silly old sod that I am. I didn't know they spelt Ottawa with a QQQQQ

We certainly had a few downpours yesterday. Clattering away on the conservatory roof. Thought is was going to cave in. !!!!

Fiona, I can't believe you are not going out today. %3A-D %3A-D what will you do with yourself????

Pat, I can see you now, sitting in the bath, and the plaster crashing into the water. What colour did it go (BLUE !!) or was that just the air. %3A-D %3A-D :-

NO phone call came and I waited till 12.00pm, then I rang him, oh!!!!! he says,I am coming round this afternoon when I have finished this other job are you going to be in,
I said yes ,I cancelled my appointments for this morning as I was told you would ring to tell me what time you would be coming, but you didn't ring %3A-%28 no sound, ,I will try and get there in a couple of hours. when I have finished my job say's he,

Oh what a shame Fiona. There is nothing worse that having to sit waiting for someone to phone or turn up. Makes you wonder if they want the JOB.
Is it not a job your OH could do.???? or is it more complex than standard DIY.???

My Son did ours (Landscape gardener) Concrete posts With feather boarding and gravel boards at the bottom. He did a wonderful job. I don't think it will ever fall down. The other neighbour has had to replace his panels twice in the past year. You only get what you pay for !!!!

Where is everyone today. ????

I'm Here %3A-D.
Ironing done for the week, got a few hours free now before taking it back all back. Probably won't move from the computer till then.

I bet poor little Chelsea's finger is really sore today Mandy, it always amazes me when I see children running in one direction and looking in the opposite.

Isn't that strange Pat, that me and my brother are like you and yours ...... if I didn't know my dad better, I'd start thinking we might be related, but he was definitey a one woman man and I'm sure your mum was faithful too. %3B-%29 Could go back another generation though as I know my grandad was 'a bit of a ladies man' he was a lorry driver and had ladies all over the country %3B-%29

I hope all is going well for Jane and the family, look forward to seeing some pictures.

Yes thanks Mel, Ann sorted it out. I don't use Microsoft Word much and when I came to use it everything had changed on there. Knowing me the next time I use it I will have forgotten what she told me to do ...lol

Fiona Report 20 Jul 2011 15:29

Frank, Probably OH could do the fence with the materials from B&Q he is very handy at DIY jobs but he just doesn't have the time,
With him travelling away so much every week and he had so many other jobs to catch up and spend time with me and his family on his weeks holiday, that he just cannot fit everything in, he would rather get some else in to do the job and pay them,we will wait and see what the cost is Frank and then decide if we will give this man the job

you are lucky to have family close by to do jobs for you. My SIL is a wizz at finacial matters but useless at DIY. lol %3A-%29

Maureen what is it with children , I agree I can not understand why Sofia runs one way and is always looking over her shoulder the other way then bang straight into the wall or door ouch!!! %3A-S

Been to market and got some chicken food and my hoover bags which I forgot last time. Wanted two packs but they only had one!!

Yes Mandy how is your grandchilds finger today. I once had a kitten who got it's paw stuck in my sons byke chain. It was playing around the byke which was in his bedroom. It did'nt half scratch me while I was trying to get it free. It never went near the byke again.

Maureen and co

Look out for a photo change soon..This one is of me and my brother on the back of a donkey in Clacton,,,

Well today has gone from bad to worse..The plasters turned up first...they then had to wait for the electrician... The sparkie had to take the light out of the ceiling in the bathroom and put new one up in kitchen and wire the exctractor up.
The bathroom ceiling had to be taken down...the poor bloke was covered in black dust from the loft......then he had to hack the plaster off the walls. Hit a water pipe...All I heard then was where s the stop cock water peeing out up here..There were 2 of them plus the electrician....
We have been waiting since 11 am for the plumber he was doing other work,,,he arrived about 5.15..Good job my husband was home...

So havent been able to offer cups of tea or have one for myself...Have started on the vodka and coke,,,,Cant sort dinner yet...Only haveing a curry ..
Also had a man around to talk about the decorating

So tomorrow the wallpaper will be put up ready for painting..The sparkie has to come back to put a temp light up in bathroom..
He put my new kitchen light up which are 4 spots lights and broke a bulb..

The bathroom didnt get plastered today after all. because of the delay..They will be back on friday now.

Having another early night again....Dinner cooking at last now.

Evening everyone,

It's been quite a nice day here ,we had a little sun and its been quite muggy .
I was really surprised today when Chelsea showed me her finger , i thought it would be black ,but she only has a small red mark on the end .

Went to the car boot , DIL got Jake some Ben Ten figures ,the chap wanted 40p each for the figures ,DIL asked how much for the lot and he said £3 !!! there must be at least thirty altogether ,some sell for about four or five pounds !!!
She bought Katie a doll for £3 ,when she looked online they sell for £40 !!!
Chelsea had a bag that holds Bratz dolls ,inside there were eight dolls with all the clothes and bits and pieces ,this was £7 !!!
I bought three books .

Kim, SIL had the operation when she was quite young , it took her ages to get over it , i don't think many people had had it done before her ,she hated the winter months .
I do hope the patches work for you ,worth a try as you say .

Fiona, so annoying waiting in for some one to ring and they don't !! either he wants the job or not , i wonder if he'll remember to ring you back !!

Pat, what a to do with the bath , bet you were cross having to run another and ending up with just a few inches of water ,when you were looking forward to a nice soak !! you've just got to keep thinking that it won't be long now before it's all done .

Annx Report 20 Jul 2011 19:10

That's the same kind of fence as ours Frank but we had a depth of 2 gravel boards at the bottom so we didn't have to bend as far or have so much to paint! Solid as a rock as you say. You are lucky to have your son do yours.....I remember it being quite expensive at the time (2003). My OH was like yours Fiona, always travelling about and no time to do much at home and to be honest the last thing he fancied was DIY when he was home. It doesn't bode well with the chap being unreliable does it and it is so annoying when you cancel things to wait in and they don't turn up.......worse still, don't even bother to let you know!!

We had a quote from the paver to do our patio today. I couldn't believe the price......so cheap!!! I thought the slabs would cost what he has quoted for the whole job which includes relaying and grouting a path as well. He did say he could get good discounts though. We were pleased with some work he did on the front drive 2 years ago after he was recommended to us so we know he'll do a good job........it's just getting him here to do it as he is so busy!!

Liz, the cabin sounds a good size and don't they put them up quickly!! Is there some kind of chalet already there as you will sell it? You did well to remember all your shopping, forgetting the list is one of my (many) failings!!!

A new pic Maureen? Who's who on this one. I like the hairstyles!

I finished redoing the other side border today (bigger) so OH will be shifting soil in there tomorrow. Everything we do, something seems to need moving before we can do it!! He's gone to footie tonight and is meeting up with an old work colleague whose team is playing opposite. I bet he comes home soooo glad that he retired when he did!!! lol

Annx Report 20 Jul 2011 19:17

Mandy, your DIL did well getting all those toys at such bargain prices. I wouldn't have minded the Bratz dolls myself!! lol I did think about collecting them once.......Bratz is more 'me' than Barbie!! lol Books are always a good buy too. I bet the children love boot sales.

I wonder how Jane got on today. I was thinking, she never did say what the role was that she was to play at the wedding did she??

I bet David has been working hard today.......all those last minute things to do. I wonder if his computer is packed yet!!
