Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Jul 2011 18:21

Back from shopping and thanks for the pics Jane and Shirl.

Hot hot hot here. OH is taking the tracks off the digger as he has bought new ones as one had perished and he could only go in a straight line otherwise the track came off. He is going to do more to the new build once he has the digger working again.
You don't know how many times you use the thing until it is out of order!!

Frank good that Ros had something to eat today. It is very hard to resist bacon once you have smelled it cooking!! Was she pleased with her perm? More expence!! :-D

Picked more toms today and put them in my pocket.............yes you guessed I squashed two bending down. When I put my hand in to get them out..........yuck all wet and sticky.

Hi all,
Thought I would pop in before I go out to AGM. starts at 8.00pm

When Ros came back from hairdressers, the hair looked great and I told her so.!!!!!
We then went off to Morris####. She would insist on having a trolley and walking round. I told her a few things I wanted and left her to it. I went off and did everything else. When we meet up at the checkout I made her go and sit down while I emptied the trollies, and packed everything away in bags. Got her back to the car, and she decided she needed her tyre pressures checked. What a B ### Job, bending over taking all the caps off, then doing the pressure and putting the caps back on. I was about Bugg####. When we got home, I unpacked everything and put them away, then got the washing in, watered the tomato plants.Stuck a broom up my a### so I could sweep up as I went along :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D When I came in it was 5.45pm, I then got dinner ready and cooked. All washed up, I am ready for a couple of PINTS tonight.

Haven't looked at my Email this evening, but will do when I have posted this.

How's our KIM, not heard from her today. I hope she is feeling allright, I know how tired she says she gets.

Shirl, I know the one you mean but can't think of the name Hold on is it "COMPLAN" that comes to mind, use to give it to my Dad in the 50s, when he was very ill.

I told you Mel, you were going to get the SUNSHINE..

Poor old Jane, Everything to do. !!!! The ad. in the ET sounds a fair bet. You can but try.

Just looked at my Ebay items, One is making over £35.00 with a hour to go. Six bidders. It's an old marble and slate clock that had been sitting in the garage for ever !!!!. Help to pay for Ros's perm lol lol

Evening All
another lovely day again here. ,We are doing well this week, glad OH is getting a good spell of weather for his holidays, and MIL to but it's a bit hot for her I think,
Sorted out dad's inscription on memorial stone today, all the papers in now just waiting for permision from the council so the fella who does the job can get permision to go into the cemetery and do the work.

We all went to Edinburgh today as we had to take daughter no 2 for an interview, not a good job, just a commision job, she won't be going for that as it will not pay enough to support her, but it was good for experience,

Was very warm in Edinburgh , we only was there for an hour just enough time to pop into a few shops, MIL got a top but I didn't see anything.

OH brother and SIL coming up from England tomorrow lunch time so we will have a full house for dinner, they are staying over night,
they are looking forward to seeing Sofia as it was christmas when they last saw her.

Well i have a bit of ironing to do, windows all open as i think it's going to be a warm night, had our bedroom window slightly open last night.

Thanks Jane for all your photo's , abeautiful place to have a graduation, and it looked like fun punting on the river.

Ensure is another 'food' drink Frank.I think as long as Ros is eating little and often she will be fine.
You have reminded me to get my tyres checked.I think James is having my car tomorrow for the day so I will get him to do it
Fiona I'm sure like you say it will have been good experience for your Daughter to go for the interview even though she doesn't really want that particular job.Great that you seem to be having some good weather!!!

I am now yawning my head off,but still can't do a big yawn as my Jaw is still difficult.I think all the talking ,laughing etc with the Graduation and Wedding has aggravated it.I have an appointment with the Dentist on Thursday to start preparing things for the proper crown, but I think i may have to cancel it as there is no way on earth I could open wide enough at the moment for him to do the work needed.

I hope Pat is enjoying her holiday and not worrying about the house.
Kim ,I hope you are alright .It seems funny without any posts from you.

I wish I lived nearer you Mel.I'd have some of those plums.

Off to bed now to read the latest book.It is the story of Ian Huntley. The one who killed Holly and Jessica back in 2002.I haven't read much of it yet ,but have a feeling there will some very unpleasant reading ahead.I think the book is titled Beyond Evil!

Night Night xx

Hello everyone,

I have started a couple of posts, but just deleted them as I could not finish. I am getting further behind after reading them all. So I will just go on from here.

Beautiful day yesterday, so I decided to wash the cat snugs and old woollen overlays. I am donating them to the RSPCA for bedding for the cats, so when I am up to it will get OH to drive me down to Somersby to hand them over. I won't get out of the car as I always want to bring home a new pet. Slap on the hand ;-) Today is really cold and wet again. I did try the patches, but had an allergic reaction and the heat went to my head and not my fingers. Will just have to get those hand warmers.

Jane and Maureen I have been loving your photos. The bride looked exquisite in her elegant gown and the venue, wow. I can just imagine you sipping champers and eating strawberries and trying not to crease your dress. I can only imagine these historic places - I am really being educated. Wish I could visit them all one day and see what I'm missing. How is Chester, would have been so thrilled to be home and all that tail wagging :-D :-D

Maureen your daughter is soo tall - wonderful mother/daughter shot. I'll bet you had a great day and the weather was kind too.

Frank I have been reading about Ros and thinking of my mum when she wasn't well enough to eat. Do you get the powered Sustagen (sp) over there. Mum could tolerate that and it's packed with vitamins. Just a thought, I have taken it over the years too. Your clock is doing well on e-Bay. I thought of putting a couple of things on for sale, but when I checked the going prices I felt it just wasn't worth it, but I am definitely going to get those books on there. Keith took Joel's bed and a pine toy box down to the Salvos yesterday. They were delighted as everything we donate is always in good condition. I hope it brings them in a few dollars :-) Pleased to see Ros was up to having her hair done - always gives you a little boost!!

Sheila I have been following all the goings on in your neighbourhood. Any news on the men that were burnt??? Must have given the whole place a shake up. Hope that things get back to some normality very quickly.

Trust Pat is enjoying the holiday and thoughts of home are far away.

I will catch up with everything eventually, just glad I managed this today. Off to have a cuppa now. Take care everyone.

Morning Kim and all
I'm glad you managed to get your post done today Kim and hope you have had a bit more oomph!
I can't stand going to animal shelters.I get too upset.I have only ever been twice and had my first dog Dodger and then the second time I came home with an 11 week old Chester.I know these places are always in great need of bedding toys etc.

I have just been down the garden to pick some dwarf Beans and Carrots, and from the other veg patch I heard some kind of noise. There was a big rabbit digging a tunnel under the radishes !!.It did a High Jump right over the wire fence and shot off.It frightened the life out of me lol
i don't think Chris is going to be impressed when he gets home tonight :-S :-S

I am now going off to a couple of second hand car dealers with Hannahs Megane.

Morning Kim and All,

So nice to see Kim has posted as we worry about her!

Another lovely day here with plenty of sunshine. Think it is a bed stripping day.

OH is out doing the digger as the new tracks should arrive today but he is having trouble getting the old track to release. He had a call this morning to say ringing was cnacelled tonight and the chap who rang (a friend of ours) works on big machinery so he asked him about it. He is now trying John's way.

Morning my sweeties,

How are you all???

Kim, nice to see you around,Hope you are feeling a little better.

Jane, What year is Hannah's car, and the mileage. If you don't get a reanonable price at a dealers, try an ad.in ET and then you could try the Auction. I have been away from the trade too long, to be able to help with a price.

Picked a few more beans this morning, The tomato's are coming along and started to ripen, Lawns could do with another cut, but they can wait today.

I have to pack and post the old slate and marble clock. The buyer is from Stonehaven, Scotland. Got £36.00 plus P & P. Must see how the other things are doing.

Has the postman been yet Maureen, Please let me know when he does.

Afternoon to you all,

Nice to see you posting again Kim. We have a dog shelter about 3 miles away and I often take stuff to them like old duvets and clothes/bric a brac. They have open days and fetes when they sell the stuff people bring in and a tiny shop where they sell things. One of the kennels is near the shed where you leave things and I always have a peek to see what is in there. (and want to take it home!!) The dogs are very well cared for and they never put a dog down. I have seen shorthaired dogs there with smart little coats on in the winter!!

Jane I could do with a bit of ooooomph too!! That girl that fell in the water was lucky it wasn't deeper!! I can see Chris heading for his gun when he gets home.....bunnies will love his veg......oh no!! I see you have another interesting book to read. lol I have sold 2 of my cars privately from ads in the paper as you can usually get more than from a dealer who has to make a profit. More hassle though and if you do that and they pay by cheque tell them you want a banker's draft and pay it in before you let them take the car away. You can look in a Parker's Guide or some of the car mags at the newsagents to get a price for the car or look at the Parker's guide online here:

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/used-prices/

Mel, your OH will soon be 'on track' with the newbuild then! lol I know what you mean about squishing toms in your pocket.......I have done it too. Cram them all in to carry them back and there is no room for any bending!!

Frank, well done with your selling!! Soon you will have lots of space everywhere!!

Frank

Frank Report 27 Jul 2011 17:27

Afternoon all,

Just had a pleasent surprise, looked at my Ebay to find another clock sold !!!! Ros wrapped them up and we took them to the post office. The big slate/marble clock was £10.41 parcel post. I covered my postage with £3.00 in hand. The other was £4.41. and made a few pence profit on that. Between them I made another £46.00. If I carry on like this I will be able to RETIRE :-D :-D :-D :-D Believe or not, but I am enjoying selling things. Will have to start going to BOOT SALES to find more things to buy, so I can sell them on Ebay.

Doing a small piece of Lamb tonight, Roast pots, Runner beans, new carrots and peas. Hope she feels like eating.

Have chopped up the leeks fot tomorrow's leek pie. Ros likes that. so here's hoping.

Squashed Tomato and stew. !!! They certainly make a mess in your pockets. and the seeds seem to go everywhere.

Mel, Is the track like the catapiller type or rubber. ????

Jane Report 27 Jul 2011 17:59

Ann I have just looked up that site and it looks like the price I have decided to put it up for is about right.Have decided to put the car in the lay by outside and put For Sale Signs in the windows.I was told to ask for Cash if someone wants to buy!I'm hoping James will be around ,as sometimes a woman is seen as an easy target to rip off.

Frank you are doing well with your sales.I bet you have got the 'bug' good and proper lol.I hope you make a Million ;-)

That blooming Peter Rabbit has been back in the veg patch.I keep expecting it to be in a little Blue Waistcoat lol.It has made a massive tunnel. It's under the Parsnips (not Radish )There were a couple lying on the top of the soil with teeth marks in.

It feels quite muggy here and a bit sticky.Chris and I both slept badly last night as it was so warm.I discovered about 3am he had shut the flipping window!!!.So i got up ,opened it and put the fan on.

The Menu tonight is Pork Steaks,New Potatoes and carrots, beans and cauli from the garden..That will be Chris ,me and James.Jess is having Mussels in white wine and crusty bread. She is going back home tomorrow evening. Her Mum and Step dad are coming about 8pm.
It looks like the weekend is going to quite good weather wise.I think Pat will be back sometime then.I do hope she has had a lovely relaxing holiday.

William Report 27 Jul 2011 18:15

Talking of memories, and at 76 I have plenty of them, I was in a charity shop today when I had a reminder of my Mum and her kitchen. Down in the 'old & expensive' end was a boxed Spong mincer. If you remember these they were a shiny cast metal body and the handle had a wooden piece to stop your hands getting sore when you turned it. I used to be enthralled that you could take the 'exit' end off and choose which disk you wanted to use for either fine or coarse mince. Nowadays you just go to the freezer centre and buy a bag of ready to cook mince.
Happy days - William
PS. I still haven't found anyone who can make bread pudding like my Mum made, bless her. :-)

Jane

Jane Report 27 Jul 2011 19:06

Hello William.I do remember my Mum having one of those Mincers.I would stand on a chair in the kitchen on a Monday and feed the left over roast beef in to mince for a cottage pie.It was awful hard work, and it would often keep slipping as the screw would work loose .I have a feeling my sister now has that old mincer.

William

William Report 27 Jul 2011 19:24

Well Jane, You'd better tell your sister to hang on to it, they seem to be worth a bob or two these days. I bought an old 'hobbing foot' with three shoe sizes on it, cast iron, but it didn't cost me much. It reminded me of when my Dad used to mend our shoes down in his shed. I sprayed it and painted flowers on it, like the barge people do. I probably knocks it's value down but it looks lovely in our garden. Since I've been doing this research I've found out that my paternal grandmothers family were all boot and shoe makers in South London. What I love about doing all this geneology/family research is that it's a real Time Machine.
Regards - William

Hello my friend Kim how are you feeling now better lately .I have been
thinking about you and Ros.

One of the men is rumoured to have died and there is two policemen sat in the alleyway Kim making notes of anything that the public is offering.I did ask how the man was but the police are not commenting at the moment and two men were arrested but rumour has it that they let them go again. I was out so did not get any effects from the blast .Cassandra Beryls daughter said it was bad like a bomb had gone off. Now they are clearing the area it is bad that there was gasoline cyclinders around with children playing in that area. if it is the man I think it is he was a nice enough fellow just drunk all the while. There is a tiny rag doll where the police are sitting and I dont know wether its been put there or if a childs dropped it. Jasper tried to carry it off. I do not envy those policeman having to sit there in that alley all day. Some people are saying what a waste of police time there have been lots of them round here for days now.

I went out today with Annie we went to Stratford pottery shop .We took four children from a childrens home and they had a lovely time painting plates and egg cups and wall plaques for their friends and family. Annie and I painted a couple of hot chocolate mugs. It was fun. April is staying and she came and had a weep she painted a cup then dropped it a very nice
Frenchman bought her another and helped her paint it with just one flower on it and her daddies name. It is to sit on his memorial at his graveside.

I arrived home to find the love birds seated in my lounge they insisted on seing me before they went home having stayed with Cassy up the road
Beryl said how boring painting plates was and Donnie said thats real cool man come old gal show some heart your getting like an old misrable prune. my ho said getting like one mate who you kidding.Donnie said Oh Les mate thats my Bell your talking about. Les said oh Don old boy I know. Michelle and April were laughing April said uncle Donnie my mummy says your too young for aunty Beryl .I was just about to gag her and he said I know Apes but we all get old. Michelle was now laughing so much I had to get rid of them by suggesting my ho took them home but Cassandra said I can take a hint and she took them. Beryl takes it all in her stride when with us but I bet she clouts old Dons ear when they get home

Well going to look on aol first time today I have a date with my ex school friend Stephen without my sticks being a golfer its dinner at the club. I think I may manage to tee off and that will be my lot change that to a P and
tjhat will be my play effort. a golfer I am not. This guy I had a crush on at school I wonder what he is like now he was very tall. Thats the third old school friend. Beryls written to two in her class but nobody replied.

William my mum made fantastic bread pudding trays and trays of it we looked like bread pudding. I loved it. But very fattening. A good way to use up all that left over bread.

Evening everyone,

Been cloudy here all day ,and chilly too, i've put a pair of long trousers back on.

Frank, your doing very well with your selling ,you'll soon be a millionaire !!! lol

Hello William , we had one of those old mincers in the loft ,it was all rusty so it went to the tip , we also have one of those hobbing foot down the shed ,i didn't know what they were called ,i always called it that foot thing !!
Good idea about painting it ,might get hubby to do that and put it in the garden ,it would make a good door stop for the shed door .
Keep your memories coming .
