Yes Ann, we will have a huge barn where we can store our furniture, all will have to be poly wrapped and so on! what performance, but well worth it at the end of the day. Ian has started making lists ,and I've started looking at things with a beady eye!!! Jane, I can't tell you how pleased we shall be to be away from our neighbours. They don't know what we're up to,and of course can't ask!!! mind you I expect someone in the village has told them of our plans! but at least they can't ask US! Nice weekend weather wise promised here so can get on with outside jobs!

William, my FIL talks about houses near where he lived being flattened with bombs. They must have been a schoolboy's dream playground and a mother's nightmare! My first MIL had a table lamp made from a wartime shell.....
Dad had a curved blade for cutting leather, called a clicking knife I think. He would draw around the shoe as a pattern too. I can remember him repairing stitching around the edge of the upper and sole, bodging holes with an awl, then rubbing candlewax on the stitches to waterproof them. He had black ink he would brush on the edges of heels to colour them......it had a strong smell! All shoes would be repaired till they really fell apart. I would get dad's hammer out and put new tips on my high heel as a teenager if dad was busy. lol
I used to love the home made trolleys the boys would make out of pram wheels and wood with a piece of string attached from one side to the other at the front to steer it. There were none where we lived, but on a visit to grandmas there would be a few in the big yard that was at the back of the cottages where she lived. I asked mum if I could have one once......NO! A trip to grans meant taking your 'play clothes', the ones you changed into as soon as you got home from school. The ones you could get wet, dirty or ripped without a telling off!! Do children have play clothes nowadays.........they always look as if they are in their best things to me!!
Mel, do you think you started it off again with doing the bed. You will have to be even more careful for a bit now. These things always happen when you want to get on too.
Frank have the tom seeds Ros dried had any toms on yet......the little oval plum shaped ones?
Can someone send me Maureen's pics too. I got one but not the rest.

I can't get into our greenhouse without pushing back all the tomato plants lol.and it is so difficult to ferret through all the branches to get to the red ones.
Dad made me a Go cart with old wheels off something.I loved it.I remember sitting in the seat with legs stretched out in front and feet on the steering bar which the string was attached to.I think there was a wooden handle at the side which was the brake. In those days we could go down the middle of the road and not worry about getting hit by a car. Those were the days!

Mandy, can you send me Maureen's pics too please. Hope your side soon gets better. We can't seem to do as much as we used to without something 'protesting' can we!!! lol
Lucky you Jane!! I bet the other children all wanted a go on it. I was looking at some old photos on line of Rugeley this afternoon where I went to infant school. They were taken in 1955......just a few cars parked, but none moving about and no road markings you could see...... and hardly any people!! How things have changed.
OH had one of those bite guards Jane.......I don't think he could get on with it, so I hope you do better than he did.
That sounds a lovely table set Fiona and a good saving too. Good you tried the chairs.....some are quite uncomfy.

Hi all,
William, there is only 3 years between us, I am one of 10 children. My eldest brother was 21 when I was born. Mum came from Canning town and Dad from Bethnal Green. We lived in Woodford, till I went in the RAF in 1958. I was defered for two years, as I nursed my Dad with CANCER. We use to fight as kids, to see who had the HAT PINS for the winkles
We also searched for shrapnel, and spent all our nights under the Morrison Shelter, five of us kids, with Mum on the end. Dad was to old for service in 2nd WW but was in the Port of London Authority, throughout the war.
We all had trolly's round our way, but we didn't call them that, I can't think of the name HELP !!!! :-D :-D
Annx, I have loads of the tiny tomato's from the seeds Ros took from that Tomato.
I had words at the Surgery tonight. Ros went to the Doctors this morning, about her sickness and the pain in her back/leg. The doctor said it could be from the affects of the Injection, and perscribed pain patches. which suppose to last a week, but if she is still in pain to put two on. Anyway, we were to collect them after 6pm. I have worked myself to a standstill today, and was feeling as though "I COULD BITE A NAIL IN HALF" at 6.30 we went up to pick them up, a new receptionest said you will have to come back, as the Doctor hasn't signed them off. She said it in such a way, that I bite, and off I went."Go and get the Doctors to sign them off then" He will do it later she said, with that I stormed out. We had a call from the surgery, to say someone would deliver them at about 8.45pm They have just arrived
I was going out tonight to get a few beers down my neck, but decided not to. Been sitting in the garden "COOLING DOWN"
Shirl, I will look to see if I can find Maureens photo, if I can I will forward them

Hello everyone and welcome to William. I can remember my mother having one of those mincers. I think she turfed it long before I left home and all the neighbours had them too. Mum minced up the cold beef or lamb and made a brilliant bread pudding - lots of other dishes from that era. Everything was nourishing with no preservatives or anything else added. How times have changed!!!
Mandy have you been getting any of my emails?? They have bounced back a few times "fatal errors".
Liz great news that you have a moving date. It's all full steam now. I would love a photo when your chalet is built if possible, some time off, I know. First things first :-)
Mel, I hope your pain has eased today. Take it a little easier will you? I know that's easier said than done!!!
Jane, James' girlfriend sounds like my daughter. Hope Chester has got a bit more zing about him today. You must be having really warm weather over there. We have had a beautiful couple of days after more rain. The dams are filling up which is such a relief!!!
Frank, one book listed on e-Bay so far, 999 to go. I hope these patches bring some relief for Ros. Good that they were delivered to you, bl**dy cheek of some of these doctors' surgeries. Talking of schrapnel, I can remember my mum and dad digging out a dead lemon tree at the bottom of our garden back in the early 80s. Mum had the shovel hitting this object and on closer inspection it turn out to be an unexploded shell left over from the war. The bomb disposal unit turned up and took it away AND IT DID EXPLODE. Boy those two were lucky, my dad was doing his nana and telling my mother how stupid that was. It was still going on when I got home from work. They were a funny pair.
Sheila, children are so excruiatingly honest, lol. Little April, bless her!!! Really lovely that the man bought her another cup so she could continue with her artwork, especially when it was for her dad. Beryl and Donnie, you will have to write a book about that pair :-D :-D
Hi Shirl, loving your emails. They do me a power of good.
Keith is making me a cuppa. Hello to anyone I haven't mentioned Fiona, Anne, Annx, Maureen, David and of course Pat will be back soon. Sorry if I have forgotten anyone.
All the bedding is washed and dried for the animals. Feel like I have achieved something. Got on the treadmill yesterday at such a cracking pace that I collapsed afterwards. Think I would have learned something by now ;-)
Chinese tonight, yum!!! Daughter is off to help the boyfriend's family move to their new home at Budgewoi. Joel is constantly serenading me with his guitar - gotta love it, lol. Keith is going to gym 3 times a week now and it is paying off. Getting fit and looking more toned. I'm so proud of him and Rod would be too!!!
Off to have that cuppa before it gets cold. Cheers, 4.07 pm EST

Morning everyone cloudy but dry at the moment, just going for a shower got the gasman coming at half past nine, we are thinking of changing our gas boiler it is very old fashioned, I think our house was built in the 60's and I am sure it must be the origanial one it's a floor standing boiler with a big steel flu that goes up the wall and out through the roof. an awful thing stands in the corner of the kitchen.
then after he's gone were going to the garden centre to collect the patio table and chairs( exciting :-D :-D) I must remember to buy a cover to put over it when not in use,
going for a shower , have a good day. <3 <3

Well, Polly is off to Toronto today, it's going top be a long flight for a little girl but I expect she'll be OK. Weather cloudy, but warm, am wondering what to get on with, our house looks like a bomb has hit it, just a sea of muddle!!! Yes Kim, I'll certainly be posting some photos, before and after ones, the camera will be at the ready!! Frank, I can well understand your frustration, I once went to the Dentist, to be told that my appointment had been booked on the wrong day, and I had to go back!!! it is infuriating! I do hope that the patches do Ros some good, SURELY they can get to the bottom of what her problem is, seems odd if they can't. Neighbours very quiet and low key! hope the new person here will be V.noisy!!!! :-D

Morning All Well, where has that sun gone.It is all cloud this morning.I think it is supposed to be back tomorrow.Fingers crossed. OMG Kim your poor Mum having her ear chewed by your Dad over the Bomb! They must have got such a fright though.
I need to go to the Bank this morning and pop into the place where Hannah has had the last service done on her car as she doesn't appear to have anything to say it was done.Hopefully they will have it in their records.
Fiona we had a boiler like yours when I was young .That was in the kitchen too.Our cats used to love to sleep on top of it.It got quite hot sometimes ,I don't know they managed to stay on there.
Liz I hope Laura has a great time in Toronto.I'm not sure if I have missed why she has gone.Is it Holiday or Gymnastics ?
Must go and get things done.BBL

Morning All,
Sunny here again today and oh has just gone off to get more cement. He finished the back bit of stone work yesterday so things are now coming together.
My back still very sore but better than the day before. Trouble is when it feels a bit better youforget and then hurt it again. Like I did pulling my jeans on this morning. I had a lovely long shower last night and just stood there and let the hot water run over my back. It was like a massage.
Liz so glad things are going right for your family at the moment. I would hate the job of packing everything up to move. So many descidons (sp???) to make as to whether to throw things out or keep them. I can't think how to spell that blimmin word!!!
William is there anything I can look up for you on your family tree. I love helping others.
Fiona hope you enjoy your new table and chiars. It's always nice when you get something new for the garden. Have you planted your little wishing well this year.
Oh back and wants coffee.
