Frank.Chris says those patches are good.Ros doesn't have to have them on her back.Any hairless bit of skin.Top of the arm or the Buttock are good places to stick. He also said they might not kick in for about 3 days.
They are slow release so will just gradually release the medication.

Evening everyone,

It's not been a bad day here today ,we had a little sun this afternoon .

Hubby's been at sons most of the day helping him to lay his new floor tiles in the kitchen, got to go back tomorrow to finish laying them and to grout up the ones they layed today ,its son and DIL's wedding anniversary tomorrow , six years !!

My friend has a Damson tree ,i don't think she has picked them yet ,if they're Bullace Jane you could make Bullace Gin !!
On the market today they had Greengages , i love Greengage Jam !!

Your picking your cookers early Frank, !! i was always told they were ready when the pips were black inside .
Cor... i could just a nice bit of Apple Crumble and Custard !!

Summer puddings lovely ,not hard to make either , just add cream yum !!!
I think i might make one for the little ones they love any thing with fruit.

We were talking today about Meat Paste, use to have a lot of Meat Paste sandwiches , haven't bought any for years .

Every now and again there's an unexploded bomb found on our coast , out come the bomb disposal to blow it up !!!

I never saw a pic of Chris with the sloes Jane........sounds like a tedious job! Have you drunk all of last year's yet? When I had a damson tree at my old house I'm sure they weren't ripe until after the Victoria plums so were quite late.

Mel and Mandy, thanks for your efforts with the pics. Mel, it is the A and N that are nearly worn off on my keyboard. Maybe I use them the most!

Liz, I don't know why but I don't think I've ever had summer pudding, although I have seen recipes. Maybe I should try some. I remember something we had at school......was it queens or eve's pudding that had custard at the bottom, then fruit, then meringue on the top??

Annx

Annx Report 29 Jul 2011 19:45

Oh that doesn't sound like the Chester I have seen Jane......not wanting his walkies!! He does look flaked out doesn't he.........not the most comfy spot is it. Maybe he is just a bit off colour today.

Jane Report 29 Jul 2011 19:50

Is it Eves pudding that has sponge?I have had lots of Summer Puddings, but never made them.Lovely with a nice dollop of fresh cream lol
Ann of course we have finished last years Sloe Gin ;-)I think James had quite a bit of that.
I'm just leaving Chris to do what he wants regarding making all the Gin things. It will keep him out of my hair for a while lol

Poor Rachel and Darren got back to Dubai late yesterday only to find the car with a flat battery and a £500 parking bill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.I'm not sure why they had that bill.Darren had left the lights on which is why the battery was flat. Then they arrived at their house only to discover the Air/Con upstairs had packed in.
Rachel had to sleep on the sofa downstairs with Ethan in his Bassinet .The temperature I think is in the 40's !.She is so exhausted after the trip to the UK and Ethan has been so unsettled and sick .They are coming back again in October for Darrens Grandma's 80th ,but they think they may rent a house for a week in London instead of staying in different Hotels. That way their friends in London can go and visit them. They will probably come to us for a day.To be honest I don't know how they coped this past week.
I will find a pic of Ethan to send.

Just had an emal from Rachel. They are on the way to the Hospital with Ethan. He has a very high temperature .Poor little mite.I'm sure he will be fine.I think he is just all out of sorts after his ordeal of all the traveling and moving around from place to place.Wish I could be there for them.

Ann ,Chester seems to have perked up tonight. He is being a pain in the backside lol

Yes Ann, Queen of Puddings was something we used to have at home, it was flipping LOVELY! We certainly didn't have it at School! or anything like it!!! Food at my Convent was pretty awful, cold, and badly cooked. The kitchen would be closed down these days, it was pretty grim even for 1957; curiously, and annoyingly (!) we all seemed to stay very well despite the food, COLD in the winter, and general spartan conditions! I quite enjoyed it in a horrible sort of way!!! Oh dear Jane, poor Rachel and family, what a home coming! hope they feel better now. Dismantled the Futon in the Spare Room today; it's going to a place at South Molton that takes furniture etc; It's in good nick so someone should be pleased with it.

They are still at the hospital waiting to get a wee sample from Ethan. He has just pooped all over Rachel.I said Sh*t Happens lol.He is in good hands and I'm sure he will be fine.
I'm now off to bed ,I just can't stay up any longer.
See you all in the morning.

PS Ann,Fitz didn't recognise the name of that chap.I saw him this afternoon. He is a bit down as his Mum is on a high and driving him doolally .He also had a phone call to say his old school friend who lives in France is dying and maybe has only a week .He has Pancreatic Cancer. He came over to England a few weeks ago and Fitz met up with him and his wife .So that was good.

Goodnight Night Jane, sorry that baby Ethan is unwell, poor Rachel must be truly exausted with all thats been going on, sun finely came out around mid day,
the British Gas man came around 9.45 and didn't go till 12.30 he was very good and explained all about changing the boiler and radiators to modern ones,
and lucky for us we are booked in for next Thurs & Friday, was really surprised that we could have it done so early and that it will only take 2 days to do the whole job, and that is it we will never need another boiler in our life time,

We had our dinner outside round the new patio table and chairs, lovely ,so much space and I could get all the food, place settings etc all on one table, the chairs are foldable and the table folds down small so when the colder weather comes we can store them in the garage or when OH gets his new garden shed they can go in there.

Mel, I have re planted my wishing well again this year, and am very pleased that even with all the bad weather we had last winter it still looks as newley painted as when I did it last summer,

Well I'm really tired now, and ready for bed, so I will say good night

BB tomorrow

G'day everyone,

William you can call me Kim. I would have to think there are a lot of unexploded shells still buried around the coastal areas of Sydney. I am from Aust. by the way. Some developer will start work and then they will find another one!!!

Jane, I am ok thanks. Got on the treadmill after an argument with my daughter and fell in a heap when I got off. Just a temper tantrum and I paid for it :-P Glad old Chester is a bit livelier, but sorry to read about Ethan. Such a worry for his mum and dad. Hope he is well and back home soon. So sad about Fitz's friend, but good they had some time together recently.

Mel the space-bar, A S and M are pretty worn on my keyboard. I like this one as it has raised keys and easier for me to use.

Liz, Aussie schools never provided cooked lunches, just had the tuck shop or canteen to buy pies or sanwiches, chips and lollies. I had a lunch order once a week if I was lucky, but usually took sandwiches from home. I can remember mum cooking Summer pudding and Queen of puddings, but that could have been my grandmother. My g.aunt used to cook dumplings with golden syrup.

Another lovely day here, we are lucky at the moment. Must go and fold the washing.

BBL, wishing you all a good day. 5.34 pm EST

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Jul 2011 09:36

Morning Kim and All,

We had rain yesterday evening and now this morning we have one of those misty moisty mornings like you get in the autumn. I went to put the washing on the line and it was coversed in spider webs all hanging in dew. It looks so pretty and you don't realize they are there when they are dry.

Ann my N on the keyboard only has a little white dot on it too. I have the bottom half of the H and a sideways bit on the M bottom left of the A. I had'nt really looked at the other keys as my hands are usually over them.

Must remember to go up the shop for the papers today as I forgot last week. I only have the paper on a Saturday and a Monday for the answers to the giant crossword which last me about a week. I never read the paper but oh has a flick through it.

Jane hope Chester is a bit brighter today. It's funny how they find a strange place to lay sometimes.

Frank hope those patches start to work soon for Ros and releive her pain.

My back is a lot better again today but I must remember not to do anything silly.

Am enjoying William's memories so how about some more William????? :-)

Fiona nice to have been able to try out the new table and chairs already.

Jane how awful about poor little Ethan. I expext it was all the upset of different hours that has put him all out of sinc. I do hope they can do something for him and he is in the best place if he is in hospital as he will be monitered all the time. Pressure can affect babies quite a lot I beleive and what with the flight and different hours how is a tiny person supposed to cope with that.

LilyL

LilyL Report 30 Jul 2011 09:47

Kim, I lived at School for 7 years apart from the holidays!! so no respite from School food! We were allowed to take sweets back, and had them dolled out every day (you had to queue) but only 3! why 3?!! God knows, things were VERY different way back then! however, once you were older you were allowed to keep your sweets yourself!!! Also once you were 16 you were allowed to take your bicycle and cycle down to town on Saturday morning in two's and in uniform!!! I have to tell you, we got into a lot of mischief, running rings round those poor Nuns, I could write a book! How I didn't get expelled is an ongoing mystery, I expect they needed the fees!!!! Jane, I hope the news about Ethan is better today, poor little mite, and poor parents. Do you know,I think children are ALWAYS a worry one way or the other!

MEgirl

MEgirl Report 30 Jul 2011 10:27

Liz, my mum boarded with the nuns from the age of 6 yrs. The family was too poor to afford the fees, so she worked for her keep. She washed and starched the habits and the white things they had pinned around their heads. She had to use an old wood copper and a big stick to lift the clothes out. She used to cook for them and sew anything needing mending. What a life for a child????

Could you imagine youngs kids coping with that these days???? For all that, she did top the state in music, but was a fair bu**er at school.

I went to a Catholic school too and we had a pretty strict time of it, but things would have been worse in the earlier days. In lots of ways, it has made me a better person I think. I can laugh at the memories these days.

Mel good that your back is easier today, don't do anything to upset the apple cart :-)

I think Pat will be back today. Hope you had a great holiday Pat, when you see this post.

Bye for now. 7.13 pm EST

Morning one and all,

You have been busy chatting in the last 24 hours. Taken me agesto read the postings.

Mel, I would not normally pick the apples yet, but Conrad always wants to take something home. The apples are quite big, even thought not ready yet. With a root of potato's five apples, beans and tomatoes, he went off happy.

Jane thanks for that info. She hasn't taken any tablets for two days, as she keeps bringing them up. The patch was put on at 9,00pm Thursday, so should see some effects on Sunday. She dosen't look good this morning, very drawn round the face and in terrible pain. I can't get her to eat any breakfast of even a milky dring. Will try again later.

Sorry to hear about the trouble with the baby, All the travelling didn't help no doubt. Is it something he has caught, for him to be in hospital. £500.00 parking fine. THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL A FINE can he appeal against it ????

All this talk of fruit GIN, Tesc# Morris## will be running out of stock, with everyone trying it.

Down the Canal there a lots of CRAB APPLE TREES. When can those be picked ??? and how do you make crab apple jelly ???

Kim, Glad you feel a bit better, try to stay of the treadmill, when you are in a stroop !!!!

All this talk about food, is making me hungry, so I'm off to get a bacon Sarnie.

Morning Everyone
Well at last I think next door is cutting the hedge back .The one that is almost at my bedroom window!!.I can hear the hedge trimmer going.

Ethan has a Viral throat infection and is home again now.Just Calpol and keeping him cool I think is all that will be needed. They will take him back for a check up tomorrow.Hopefully they may get a bit of shut eye today.I think they got home about 2.30am !
No mention of queerying that parking ticket Frank.I think they must have parked somewhere they shouldn't have!.That would have been about the same cost as one of the flight tickets lol
I see the sun is coming out here now.Maybe Ros can sit in the garden for a while Frank and soak up a few rays.I hope she feels like a little something to eat soon.It must be such a worry for you.

Yes Mel ,do remember to take things gently.I know you don't find that easy :-(

I must have a look for some recipes to do with cabbage as we have them ready to pick now.I never normally buy cabbage so haven't a clue what to do with it other than boil.

KIm your poor Mum having to do all that for the Nuns!!I have a job just to get James to bring his washing downstairs and put it by the machine :-S :-S :-S

Must get a move on.So BBL
