I say Scon Jane, but it may not be right! nostalgic! 'o' not an 'a', but I had to look it up!! Black as your hat here now, looks as if it's about to teem! Tracy,I thought I was pretty cool way back, in fact my friends and I thought we were the coolest kids on the block, cica 1961! we we wore Winkle Picker shoes and tartan tights,M & S Skirt, grey or dark green, a sloppy Joe jumper your boyfriends scarf, and a dark coloured duffle coat, a couple of sizes too big!! we always went wherever we were going on the bus, and thought we looked the 'bees knees'. I should think we looked a complete fright!!! My mother was always trying to get me into something 'pretty' "why did I have to wear all these dark ugly colours"! 'cos everyone else did I suppose!!!!

Hi Everyone,
Scorching hot here, but a slight breeze which helps a little. Did a bit in the garden this morning and OH moved some of the gravel again and we watered all the pots, baskets and greenhouse. It is becoming like the forth bridge watering stuff!!
Hope you had a nice time Pat and that your frayed nerves are better and that you are ready for the workmen again!! I always like to get the washer on as soon as I get back too.
I wish you could get small varieties of purple sprouting broc Mel as I loved it, even as a child, and remember dad growing it. Glad your back is getting better so you can do things, mine is ok again now, so I will be 'rocking' carefully tomorrow. lol Have you any pics of the chicks......they are so cute......I remember the little one with mum when I came to see you. I see your OH does ring at different churches.....is it easier at some.......silly me, I suppose the bigger bells are harder to move!!!
Liz, I bet Edward will be full chatter about his speedboat ride when he gets back. I have never been on one either......not sure I have a strong enough stomach for all that bouncing over the waves. Something that goes phut, phut is more my thing!! Have either of the grandchildren wanted to ride Merlin?
Frank, it would be very interesting to see what colours you would choose to paint!! I wonder what colours you see for green and red, one or the other for both?
I bet Ros is really fed up with all these problems. I think it is a good idea to cook you a dinner and try and tempt her with just a bit of it......less daunting than a bigger meal when you are struggling. Could she try a ginger biscuit? The ginger is supposed to help with an upset tum?? I agree with you all about speaking to your doc. She can't carry on as she is, so the sooner her doc knows exactly how things are now, the better. I think you are doing great, doing your best to try and help her...........my OH's repertoire in the kitchen would be much more limited, bless him!!! As Jane says, keep calm and just tell it how it is.

Yes Jane, it can feel quite intimidating when they pour out of the big matches. I don't really like him going to them, so I'm glad he just mostly follows the little local team!!
Mandy that is very HOT!! I shall have to be up very early to do anything outside. I have never had any desire to wear a thong either!! lol I think one would drive me nuts......would feel like a sumo wrestler. lol
Mel, you did have quite a few bikinis. I can only remember one pieces until I was age 19. I remember those itchy wool ones we had as school uniform ones that sagged as you climbed out. The there was a gingham one piece too with shirring elastic all over so it looked like little bobbles till you stretched it on. My word how it would hold the water in those bobbles when you got out of the water.....pulled it right down! Then at 19 I got a black bikini joined together with those gold metal rings at each hip and in the middle of the top. I still had it until I moved here, then out it had to go with the big clearout. I had another I wore in my 30s, a pink and brown leopard effect one.....might still be in the loft somewhere. I don't possess anything that would fit now!!! Shirl, mine would need two Blue Whales on now!!! lol

LOL Liz we were the Bee's Knees!!!!.Youngster nowadays think they are too.Wait 20/30 years and they will think they looked a fright when they look back at the photos.
Crikey we have had quite a discussion here this afternoon. When Chris retires .Do we move or not move. What will he do with his time?? How will he feel? He is getting a little concerned :-S So am I now .It won't be earlier than 18 months. But I think we need to put thinking caps on.I would just love to live nearer my Sister. We have no family here other than our 2 appendages ;-),but they can stay with us wherever we are.I think it just hit Chris today knowing it will soon be the end of 'working life'.He wants nothing to do with Medical things once he retires.
I think dinner may be a bit of a disaster. The Pork is tough :-S :-S

Hi everyone I do apologise my post disapearing I was having trouble with my computor all day on and off it went and I typed my message with a lot of effort and when I read it seemed stupid to me only because it was shoooting here there and everywhere. I got so fed up with the computor I deleted my message and shut off the computor and it took me hours to decide to come on today.
I was feeling very sad with a picture appearing in the paper of the dead man who was burnt and remember walking up the alleyway with him just before he was burnt He said come on love come past and I saw his face all day yesterday in my mind. Plus the fact they were stopping the traffic the police outside and asking people if they were in the area or saw anything and putting leaflets about saying have you seen this mans murderer. It was getting us down round here. The other man is seriously ill. People say well they were drunks but what a terrible way to die. I cannot amagine who did it. I am sorry if I confused people and you saw my message Jane. What a experience that was I will never see a school friend again and yes indeed my long lost love turned out to be the wrong guy. I had a crush on a guy called Stephen all this time only to find out Stephen who I met had not done science because he had a note to be off school because he had flat feet. I used to have a amour with a guy in the science lab chatting while we lit the bunson burners and had a little holding hand session. This Stephen could not even remember my name called me Susan and led me around by my bottom. Widowed I think he thought he was in his youth or had viagra or something anyway he did not impress me and I declined his offer of the cinema. I remembered afterwards the guy I liked was called John and Beryl collasped with laughter when I told her I said I wondered what had happened to John and she said he was kicking up the daisies he had died and I collasped with laughter. We are dreadful it was the fact he was off school with a complaint of flat feet tickled Beryl. it did me. My romantic ideas just disapeared in a trice. Then Leslie my ho was getting worried he said Donnie was getting too friendly with him and that set me off again giggling. I needed a few laughs though my weeks been depressing
April made me laugh today she decided to do grandad some lunch so she cut some cheese and apple and stuck it on a sandwich real thick slices she cut off a loaf unsliced that Sophia made it was huge and she sprinkled pepper all over it. Poor grandad sat looking at it for ages and April would not budge until he took a bite and the whole thing stuck to his false teeth and he was not happy. My hos comment when is she going home.Did I mention I had a club sandwich at the golf club I think that guy was golf mad Hope you had a lovely holiday Pat. Where did you go.
I used to go and get my gran a jug of stout from the pub and sometimes I went with her and my uncle Tom and had to wait outside with a glass of lemonade and crisps that tasted of fat and had a blue salt packet in them. I loved those days. I remember the smell of the toilet and standing in a porch type room with a push door and looking at every face to see if it was my gran coming out. funny what turns you on. And the noise of the people talking inside the bar.
I remember the tram went right down to the bottom of the road by the Old Bull and Bush pub. In 1940 I had a couson called Ronnie Mortiboys and he was about 6tft tall and he would put me up on his shoulders and run with me to catch the tram Then it was home to a big Sunday tea. Days were very hot and long then and it was nice. I went home and slept like a top with not much entertainment I was glad to go to bed.I liked those days. Of course the war was looming and then it was not so nice. Table shelters and gas masks and barrage balloons. Being got out of bed and shuffled into the table shelter. My brother the sweet little chap used to pinch me if I fell asleep. Catholic schools frightened me when small like I said before we used to rush in the church dip our fingers in the font and run out and think we would die because it was the catholic church. Catholic children were our enemies at my school nobody would talk to them and I was thirteen before I realised they were the same as me . I had a catholic friend I met at a Bring and Buy sale. Josy Spinks her mum was the matron at the Queen Elizabeth hospital she used to make up stories about people dying and all sorts and we believed every word.
Well I have to have a good read of all the threads and will get back later so sorry I took off my thread. was sure nobody had seen it. Beryl was still giggling this morning about Stephen or Steven however he spells his name. My ho said serves you right mind you Beryls sister Iris she met one of her old school mates and she said he was so bent over she never looked him in the face all day .In our area there ia a club where they encourage you to trace old friends most of mine are dead .I was lucky to see the three I did .Beryl could not find any of hers. Mr Bold the club sec puts ads in the paper for people. The weathers been great today.Frank you do a good job with Ros it must be such a worry when your not well yourself and she is so off colour its hard to know what to say just keep your chin up .
My prayer before bed was forgive me jesus for all the bad things I have done today and any good ones tell me dad so I get my shilling pocket money on Saturday which was silly really because if dad forgot I used to remind him. A very selfish prayer.

I know Jane, retirement can be quite daunting. I think at first it's brilliant, all that freedom to do what you like when you like, but after a while it gets a bit mundane and then what?!!! I know friends whose husbands have retired found this to be the case. Ian,luckily, went straight into making wooden house signs etc when he was no longer able to do Tree Surgery. It gives us an extra income and keeps him off the streets, and out of my hair! but doesn't tie us down. He's always done wood turning, and making things all his adult life, as well as Tree Work, so it was a natural transition, he would be AWFUL if he didn't have anything to do!! Living nearer your sister sounds a brilliant idea, I think being nearer family is a good idea particularly as we all get older!!!! hope your dinner was OK, I expect the veg were good!!! :-0

Morning All and white rabbits.
I can't beleive it is now August. I don't know where July went :-S
It was dry and warm most of yesterday and then in the late evening it rained and the road is still wet today after this mornings shower.
OH got another rabbits this morning on the front lawn I heard the gun go off while I was in bed. He shot it out his study window.
Yesterday OH was trying to get another tree stump out. He has dug a HUGE hole all round ti but this one is ginormous (sp) you know what I mean. In the end he threw all the roots and wood he could find in the hole and set fire to it. I don't think it made much difference though.
Frank have you been to the docs with Ros yet??

Morning all, (JUST)
Have spoken with the sugery this morning, their opinion is that this sickness and lack of enegy could be the after effects of the Injection she had in her back. They usualy give only one a year, but because Ros was in such pain they gave another only frour months later. Could be too much of whatever is in it, in the system.
This morning I managed to get her to drink three glass's of milk and eat a piece of bread and butter.
I haven't realy read the posts yet. So will digest them later and comment accordingly.

Have had a nosey throught the postings, I can just imagine you all in your swim wear, makes the mind boggle :-D :-D :-D
Yes Jane, I can understand how Chris is feeling about retirement. I had no intention of packing bin when I did, and hoped to have worked for another couple of years, But then came the STROKE and your whole life changes. I suppose I am lucky, I am not an invalid like a lot of them, and still able to carry on a fairly normal life. I just wish I had had the choice.
I cooked a dinner for Harvey yesterday, and plated up mine, for him to take home for tonights dinner. Neither Ros or I ate yesterday. I must be getting like her. !!!!
She will have to drive me to Tesc# later ,as there are quite a few things I need. She can sit in the car while I nip around. Harvey bought up a wheelchair yesterday One that Julia's son has never used.It will. need a good clean, but then I will try to get her to go in it. :-0 :-0 :-0 She said to Harvey, I don't want to have to use a chair, what will people think. He said Bugg## what people think, if it makes life easier for you, you use it.
Mel, Your OH has certainly got a lot of get up and go. Can he send some up to me, please. !!!
Liz, so glad that Ian is still able to keep himself busy with his wood turning etc, Will he have space when you move ??
Where's our Maureen.????

Morning everyone,
Another glorious day here up around 21. We always get a burst of warmer weather when August hits and then the winds start. Got to the RSPCA yesterday with the bedding. They have lots of blankets coming in for the animals, so people are getting the message and donating. Then we looked at a few furniture places for bedroom and dining room suites and bought a new mattress protector. Visited my friend Sylvia for a coffee and then home. I wanted to bring several cats home with me, but a stern NO was forthcoming :-P
Jane the thought of cabbage soup has made my innards grumble. Love red cabbage especially, but it doesn't like me :-S I've never done the "thong" thing. I like my knickers comfortable and roomy so I can expand, lol. Crocheted (sp) bikinis were all the go in the very early 70s here. I had a black and white knitted one, but it scratched and chaffed me something terrible. Lost a few tops in the surf in my time - so embarrassing. The surfers used to dangle them on the ends of their boards. I'd have to signal for someone to bring me a towel. Too bad if I was swimming by myself as I often did ;-)
Liz pleased to hear that Polly has arrived safely in Canada. Never been in a speed boat as such, but lots of rides on Jet Boats in NZ. Heaps of fun in only inches of water and close to rocky outcrops, then 360 degree spins making sure everyone got a soaking. They have had them in Australia for a while, but no where near as good or as exciting.
Annx we never had school dinners provided only the daily milk left sitting in the sun going sour, stupid twits :-S Your little squirrel sounds very clever avoiding those magpies.
William yes I've noticed all those things getting smaller, but the toilet paper rolls have been shrinking for years ;-) We go through a lot in this house, no value for money any more.
Pat great to see you back on here. Sounds like you enjoyed your holiday and look forward to seeing any pics when you get the time. Now the fun begins again. Good luck with it all. Smooth sailing from here on in hopefully :-)
Frank my heart goes out to you and Ros. She must be so fed up with feeling sick and in pain all the time. The doctor needs to be supportive and get on the ball!! Keep cooking your lovely meals as Ros might surprise you and have a small portion. All good advice from the lovely folk on here.
Oh Sheila I have read your post with so many mixed emotions. I need to have a rest, but will be back later. Those poor men!!! No one deserves to die like that. I hope they get the murderous swines and very soon.
Off to lie on the couch now. Cheers. 9.20 pm

I am going shopping this afternoon.
Frank my oh retired at 45 after 25 odd years in the fire service. I thought after his heart op he would slow down a bit. Think he is like me and has to have something to do.
I wonder why they did't try the patches on poor Ros before giving her the second injection?????

Frank just read your post. At least Ros was able to eat a little. Did they say when the sickness might wear off; must be almighty powerful stuff in that injection. I'm with Harvey. When I used the chair for the first time I had elderly women in much better shape than me patting me on the head. I got used to it after a few times and was very thankful for the chair. It enabled me to get to the doctor and other appointments I needed to attend.
Ros will come around and when her stomach settles, she might be a bit more mobile. I hope that will be the case.
Off to bed now, Sydney tomorrow and I need some sleep. Best wishes to all.

Thanks all for your good wishes. You know how i appreiciate them.
Ros. drove me to Tesc#. I got the normal things we wanted. On top of that, I got lots of different Ice lollies and Ice creams, Fruit juices of various types, Ready meals, (NOT something I would normally buy) but she just might fancy something different.
Ros. Rangthe specialist this morning. He just rang back (his secretary) to say he can see her at 8.30am Thursday morning. His opinion is IT'S NOT THE INJECTION. that is causing the sickness and metal taste in her mouth. I do wish the doctor's would speak to one another. !!! they then might perscribe the right stuff for Ros.
Enough of me and my problems. YES Where is our Jane this morning/afternoon.
Kim, Do you mix your trip to Sydney with Doctor and shopping ??? Mel, When did Mr Mel have his heart problems. He certainly dosen't let it interfer with his life. Good on him. !!!!
Like you Kim, I can't think of anything worse than CABBAGE SOUP. If it was just an addition to a soup it might not be so bad :-) :-) :-)
Shelia,Sorry to hear about the chap who died after the fire. Someone should be bought to book, for having un-attented Gas cylinders. in a lock up garage.

Hi Everyone, We have just come back from our umpteenth trip to the re-cycling place; this time with books!! We have collected SO many over the years, so I've been ruthless and chucked a whole load out, I've still managed to fill 5 boxes with the ones that we want to keep!!!! Loft now clear except for empty boxes which we shall need ere long! feel a bit exhausted but cheerful! Yes Jane, we DID have clotted cream, and it was scrummy!! Yes Frank, we have got a huge barn two stables and a field shelter where we are going, so plenty of room for Ian's work, Merlin, Millie and MAYBE, later on, a kitten! Lost a bit of tooth this lunchtime, so a trip to the Dentist ASAP. I've got an appointment the first week in Sept, after that we shall have to find a new one, changing Dentists always makes me feel a bit nervous, but has to be done else I shall turn into a toothless old hag!! :-)
