Frank Report 3 Aug 2011 11:14

Morning all,

Why does it all happen to me.???

Last night in that downpour, while closing the conservatory door I twisted by shoulder/neck. I was in so much pain last night, I put frozen peas on it. It still hurt when I went to bed, and hasd me awake a lot during the night. Not much better this morning, can't turn my head to the left.

Ros has only had a glass of milk again this morning. I have a call into her Doctor, I want him to refer her to someone who can find out what's going onm with her body. She can't go on like this. I hope I can keep my COOL.

Another hot one out there today. It will be under the shade of the cherry tree for me later.

I am glad I did all the housework yesterday, I certainly want to try it today.

Jan from Rutland, is going to drive over tomorrow morning to take Ros to Woodlands Hospital. Ros dosen't feel comfortable with the thought of driving all that way. Totally not like her !!!

Pat, As the weather is nice, it will be good to get the children out in the park, you could take a Picnic.!! I'm sure they will enjoy that.and let the builders get on. You know what children are like around tins of paint etc.

Haven't read all the postings, but trust you all have a nice day and don't overdo it :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Aug 2011 12:58

Hi All,

Another beautifull day here today. Have been in to Holsworthy to get some timber for the new build. I bought another Heucherer (sp). Blazing sun here today. I have'nt done anything else yet and need to get the washing on the line.

It has taken me ages to catch up on your postings.

Welcome to Foggy. I understand from Jane that you two have met?

William such lovely memories just keep them coming please. I used to go to Stratford E 15 quite as lot when I was younger. Lived in Redbridge when small. My first husband got caught for speed on the Stratford sort of flyover bit of road once. When the police stopped him he said he was'nt going that fast. They replied no you were just flying low!!!!

My nan used to take me to London with her. We lived with nan and grandad when I was young. She would show me all the bomb sites and we would see what different things we could spy in the rubble. I don't know how old I was at that time but only very young, about 5 or six I suppose.

Frank hope Ros had a better day today. You would really think there must be something they can do for her to make her more comfy and to be able to eat something. Perhaps you should buy her some multi vits and get her to take one of those a day at least she would be getting some vits if she is not eating.

Kim hope you have abetter day today too. Don't overdo things please............ :-(

Must feed oh now as he has ripped the tin sheeting of the front of the old garage now and is putting the roofing timbers up. We forgot to get some woodworm treatment for the old wood in the garage so I had it put on the delivery for Friday with the wood. More EXPENCE!! as our Frank would say., and yes it has been over the last blimmin week. Next he will want the new tin for the roof!!

I let my chicks out their run yesterday for the first time, into the garden and they had a lovely time. Mixed in quite well with the others but by the evening they were in two groups. All mums and babies went in their arc last night and when I opened the door they were all in a great pile! they did lookl funny.

Mel, I'm trying to be good :-D :-D This coming from the dear lady who keeps putting her back out. You take it easy too. ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Aug 2011 14:16

I like the lady bit Kim :-) Trouble is when you feel a bit better you go and do things that have to be done and twang there it goes again! It all started when I was bring a bell down. you have to pull them in in time with the others and instead of bending my arm i used it straight. I pulled the muscle away and it felt like a rope breaking inside me. I don't ring now only chime the bells at the local church to raise money for our bell fund. We give all our money for the ringing to the fund.

Afternoon everyone,

What a scorcher out there today !! not that i've been out in it , i've pulled the muscle in my side again ,i went and layed on the bed last tea time and didn't get up until about ten this morning , i didn't sleep much last night, its still very painful, i just need to rest it .

Hubby's here we had to look after Katie this morning while son and DIL took the other two to the cinema to see the new Walt Disney film Cars , they had free tickets with Pop Corn, sweets and a drink for everyone thrown in , too good an offer to miss .
Hubby did the looking after Katie !! now he realises how tiring it is looking after her ,she keeps you on your toes .

Will read all the posts now , BBL

Annx Report 3 Aug 2011 16:06

Afternoon All,

Well, every post seems to be a pulled this, a twanged that and a twisted the other!!! I've been taking Ibu*rofen this week while I've done so much outside. Frank, you have my sympathy with your shoulder (as does anyone else suffering!) .....it is very painful when you do that.....hope the frozen pea poultice helped. Mandy and Mel take care too. Mel is so right, you think things are ok and forget and before you know it you overstretch and ping, back to square 1. I bet the little chicks loved exploring.

That was a brilliant free cinema treat for the 2 eldest Mandy.....at least Katie isn't old enough to think she was missing out and make a fuss, even though she is too young to sit that long anyway!!

OH managed to slice into his finger with the secateurs while dead heading yesterday......blood everywhere. I managed to sort it out and he ended up with a big finger with the bandage on to hold together the flap he had cut. I told him he should keep it higher than his heart for a while till it stopped bleeding. The finger he cut was next to his ring finger........so he stuck the finger up in the air in front of him!!!!!! I said 'whatever you do, don't walk around like that at footie tonight or someone will deck you making gestures like that!!!!! lol

The little squirrel was back this morning, hanging upside down on nextdoor's feeder........I took a few hazy pics through the window.....will see if one is good enough to send. Jane, I can never tell the difference between those birds.....you had quite a few of them there on the ariel.

Frank, I'm glad Ros has a hospital appointment........you are right she can't carry on like this. It may help to have Jan there too.....she must be noticing the weight loss and can back up what you both say. I hope there is something they can do to ease her pain without making her feel so ill. Lots of XXXXX for her.

It took ages at the haidressers this morning 2 and a quarter hours!! My hairdresser, who is the manager was there on her own the first hour and a half as the others were at a meeting .......and the phone did nothing but ring!!

Hope all goes well today Pat and that you have a nice time with the grandchildren.

Kim.....don't overdo the treadmill, will you!!

I think Maureen will be outside lapping up and loving all this hot sunshine on her new deck or elsewhere!!! lol

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2011 17:26

Fingers crossed this post adds.i have lost 2 now and am losing my patience :-S :-S
All these injuries you are managing to do to yourselves !!!.Mandy and Frank,I hope you both get a decent sleep tonight and that things start to ease up.

I'll be thinking of Ros tomorrow when she has her hospital appointment.Good job Jan is doing the driving as it is a bit of a trek

Lots of thunder earlier with just a little rain.Chester got himself in a state as usual. He is now flopped out on the floor .I just hope we don't have thunder in the night as it will mean me coming downstairs with him.

Ann I love those cheeky things in your neighbours garden.Fancy the magpie waiting like that.I don't put any food out for the birds now
And your OH in the wars again?? I have a picture in my mind of a gigantic bandage on the finger lol
I have had gallons of iced water today, but must have sweated it all out as I don't think I have been to the loo.You wait it will catch up with me in the night :-S

Foggy

Foggy Report 3 Aug 2011 17:44

Good afternoon everyone,

It's been another scorcher of a day today, chilled out and did nothing, just lazed around.

I was trying to recall about where I lived as a child after the war years, and I remembered how quite a few of the streets were made up from wooden logs that had been soaked in tar.
I know its hard to believe, but I remembered when it rained I often used to slip on them when rounding corners on my bike.

Like |Mel fairy godmother I also remember all the bombed sites, there was quite a few where I lived in the west end of London.
I vaguely remember as a child having to go down Baker street underground station when the sirens went off, and can remember people used to sing a lot.????
Shows our age..lol.

Foggy :-)

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2011 18:21

Evening Foggy
Glad you have decided to pop in again.I hope you keep doing so.
As you know i am just a 'tad' younger than you lol ;-)so I have no memories of war time.I do find it so interesting though hearing others experiences during those years.
I want this heat to go away!!!! Not that I am being a miserable so and so.I wish I could have a nice paddle on a sea shore somewhere. That lovely feeling of the water washing over your skin and your feet sinking into the sand .Oh Bliss.
I will have to make do with a bowl of cold water lol

I must tell everyone.Foggy is a lovely lovely man,a real gent, and so young looking. ;-)I met Foggy last year at the Peterborough and again this May at the London one.(I hope I haven't embarrassed you Foggy)

Frank

Frank Report 3 Aug 2011 18:32

Nothing wrong with that FOGGY showing our age. It's nice to know we have these stuck away in the backs of our mind. As I have said before on here, I could write a book on things that happened to me in childhood.!!!!

HOME ALONE. tonight. Ros didn't feel comfortable about driving, so Jan came down this afternoon and took her back to Rutland. She will stay the night there, and Jan will take her to the hospital in the morning. Then bring her home.

Got caught out again this afternoon. Sitting in the lounger with my book. Poped in to see if Ros wanted anything, and the sky's just opened. I had my Ebook, the telephone and my straw hat on the lawn. I had to rush out (slowly) to get everything in.

Over sixty years ago I had a big wart on my left knee, I think it's coming back :-0 :-0 :-0 Got a real hard, grothy type of lump on the same place. Can that happen ?????

Foggy, Lombard street, E.C.3 was one of the last roads (STREETS) to have tar blocks for the road surface, another bit of useless info. THERE IS NOT A ROAD IN LONDON'S SQUARE MILE. all streets, passages, etc.

Hope everything went well for you today Pat, and the weather didn't spoil it for the children. How are the paiters/tilers getting on ????

Jane, When Jan arrived just after four this afternoon. She said that around Corby/Kettering the rain was so bad that they were down to 10 MPH Hasn't arrived here yet !!!

Annx, I trust you are felling a little better today, so easy to twist and hurt yourself. I take eight Co-Dydramol 500mg every day, for the dis- comfort from my stroke. I must say it certainly helps when you need any pain killers

Kim, I hope you are getting over your Sydney trip. I was only there two days, but I loved it !!!!

Mandy, You must be more careful at your age. :-D :-D :-D I have just put my tin helmet on.!!!

Will go and get something to eat, then have a wash and change, and go on the PULL TONIGHT. (I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY) Down the pub for a couple of beers, That me for now.

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2011 18:50

LOL Frank "on the pull indeed' .I think you enjoy a couple of pints tonight. You can chill and not worry about Ros.She will be in good hands with Jan.
As for the rain you mentioned it must have missed me!!!!!!.We just had a small amount when the thunder got going.

I used to have a wart on my left knee too when I was young.I sold it to a Lady and it went :-D.I used to knock it often and was always sporting a plaster.
I don't know if you can get another in the same place years later. But it might be worth getting it checked out.
Chris is home now ,so will go and have a chat and see what kind of day he has had.(He looks quite chirpy) thank heavens :-D :-D

Jane

Jane Report 3 Aug 2011 19:55

Shirl ,we still get those Jelly Squares.I remember stretching them like mad to separate the squares and them melting them in a jug of boiling water.Stirring with a wooden spoon to get them to dissolve. There was always some little bit that refused to dissolve.I think i will have to and buy a pack now lol.We always seemed to have Strawberry or Raspberry.
The fans here are on full force but don't seem to be cooling anything unless you are sat right next to one .I have one blowing on my back right now and it is lovely :-D
I think Fiona has been to the Doctors today .I hope things went well .

I am dragging my heels now as I really don't want to put the cooker on lol.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 3 Aug 2011 20:16

Oh Jelly , the little ones love it ,and i think the big ones like it too LOL
I buy them and make one up to three quarters of a pint of boiling water ,then stir in a Mull*r lite Yogurt ,turns out like a milk jelly ,if you use the sugar free crystals and the yogurts its almost fat free !!!

Was this Newt indoors !! i'd have forty fits !!!!

Mel I once sent a dead Mole to school for Nature Class ,but I was told they couldn't take it (Health and Safety) I think. How ridiculous is that.I did the same thing with a Tern.Poor James came home with it .I think we buried it in the garden.
