Morning everyone,

Sorry wiped out at the moment. I just want to know that you are all safe. Can't believe what is happening over there and the destruction and violence.

Mel had a giggle about your pants - has happened to me a few times, but in transit.

Will catch up on your posts over the next couple of days.

Cheers, Kim 8.28 pm

Oh Mel, split trousers, will never do :-D :-D

Changed bed this morning, sheets on line now. Nice blowy morning. Should dry in no time.

Ros is thinking of saying "YES" to going to Conrad's. will get her out of the bungalow for a few days. Good idea or not, I'm not so sure.

No news from this end, hope you all have a nice day.

Jane, we live in a small town about 5 miles from Coventry and five miles the other way to Nuneaton. You may see it on the TV in November, it's the only town in the country that has a war memorial parade and service for the fallen at 11am on November 11th each year. There is usually a WWII Dakota that flies over and drops poppies (weather permitting). I wonder what all those who gave their lives for the good of others would make of all this terrible rioting and vandalism?

I hope all of you are keeping safe.

Just off to bed now.

Good luck Pat, coming into the home straight now and no more hurdles. Hope it is all done correctly this time. Don't overdo it, you don't need a bad back too ;-)

Frank good that Ros has had some food. A change of scenery might help, all depends on how she is feeling. How far is it to Conrad's house??

Stay safe, have a good day, good night. 10.53 pm

Things are looking up. Ros wanted to go to Hobb# Craf# for something this afternoon, and as Matala# is next door she thought she would have a look round.

Picked all the meat of the chicken this morning, so doing a Curry tonight.

Fourteen arrested in Northampton last night. Spreading all over the place now.

William, Stay away from B'Ham centre. looks like it could be nasty again tonight. Three Murdered last night.

Pat, You had me wondering what they were taking off and putting on. :-D :-D :-D You must take your time posting, our minds work overtime ;-) ;-) ;-)

Kim, We are about 45/50 miles from Conrad. He has offered to pick us up and bring us home. But the trip would be close on 200 miles. too far for him.

At last I can get on here.Have had pooter trouble today.
Tintagel Mel.I think the last time I went there was with Chris when the children were small and my Mum and Dad looked after them for a few days so we could have a bit of a break.I hope you have had a nice day out.

Frank, that is great news that Ros fancied going to the shops!!!.A bit more food now is what she needs.

Pat i hope it is all going to plan now!!!

William I see that you are not a great distance from Frank and me(well not a zillion miles)

I think I have sold the car. This chap has gone to get the money from the bank.I won't cheer until everything is signed etc.I just paid to advertise it in the papers today :-S.Don't know if I will be able to cancel that.I will see tomorrow.

Sheila,I'm sorry you were finding April a bit of a handful. She probably will feel a little jealous of her new Brother and maybe is craving 'attention'.Not the best way though by tying poor little puss up.I expect you will need a bit of a rest now lol.You are a wonderful Grandma to April.

Well the car has gone!!!!!!.I had better let Hannah know now.She will be a happy bunny.I feel all a bit of a Hoo Ha now.Never had to do anything like that before lol
Back later.

Hi Everyone,

Getting rid of your old boiler sounds like it has been a good move all round Fiona....freed up lots more space! Sorry you are still feeling so sick.....hope little Sofia is good at picking things up so you don't have to bend.....she sounds like a little livewire ....keeps going longer than you expect.

My back was much better today and I did a bit more outside but no lifting heavy things. I know what you mean Pat, so easy to overdo it when you are getting stuck in. Tomorrow we will be visiting OH's parents with his mum's birthday present and their anniversary present and cards. The only anniversary card with nice words we could find had a big space on the front, so at OH's suggestion I stuck a photo of them on it!! While we are over that way, we may call in the pond place and get some liner for the back of the tiny waterfall and some paddle stones for around the edge of the tiny pond......it's going to be a miniature garden!! The bunnies were sunbathing again.

Mel, not getting too big for your pants are you! lol I have done that many times too.....lucky you spotted it in time. We nearly booked to go to Boscastle in September, one of OH's favourite places. We have stayed there before at the Wellington Hotel, but haven't been back since the floods. The witches museum sounds good.

William, I think I know where you are as I went to see Richard Digance there in the hall about 3 years ago, only about 15 miles away from me.....practically next door!! lol My OH was born in Nuneaton and most of his ancestors are there and in the surrounding area. I must book a day at the records office this winter, but I have a sneaky feeling Nuneaton records are held at Stratford!

I'm glad things are looking up for Ros, it will do her good to go out when she's up to it, especially to get things for her hobbies. Her tum will take a little while to get used to normal sized meals anyway, so little and often is good when she can manage it.

I was going to take a top back to a shop this afternoon, but OH pointed out that it was in a known trouble area even though outside the city and that the shops could be closing early so I didn't go. I see that they have been refusing bail for the thugs......GOOD!! If they were our ancestors they would be piling them on transportation ships. When I was coming out of Sains*ury's this morning there were 2 riot police in there talking to staff. They were all padded up, but no helmets or shields. I must say it is nice to see them in proper protective gear. The shops in three roads in the city were looted last night..... makes you wonder what will happen tonight, or whether they will target other cities. Is your daughter back at work Jane or still being told to stay at home?

Liz, it would be a lot of work getting Merlin ready, so much easier to go without him, especially as Ian is stiff. My word, I remember being hardly able to walk after a ride when I hadn't done it for a while!! lol Glad everything seems to be on track again.

Jane Report 10 Aug 2011 18:39

Ann,I'm pleased your back has been easier today.Don't get too complacent and start lifting etc.
Hannah has been to work and says things have been ok so far today. But who knows what may happen this evening. She actually sounds rather 'down'.I think it has been quite an emotional strain.Especially when you think the people she is working with. Her clients are ones who have been through the courts and part of their 'sentence' is to attend the centre. She still isn't sure how many of hers have been arrested.

It is so windy here tonight.I just found one of the towels from the washing line halfway down the garden :-S
Hopefully things will be calm everywhere tonight.I just had a call from my old friend Margaret in Cornwall.I won't tell you what she said she would do to these rioters !!!!!!!
Chris has just come in so I better go and see him

Evening everyone,

Oh dear Mel good job you noticed the trousers were split !! i've had that happen , i've bent down and heard an almighty rip !!! lol

Pat , you'll be ready for your days away won't you ? what a todo !! lets hope the wall paper goes on the right way up !!!

Frank, it might do Ros good to get away for a few days ,a change of scenery might help, and its good that she feels like going out to a couple of shops .

Kim hope you soon have a bit more get up and go .

And Fiona, glad to hear that your house is now nice and warm for you, sounds as if the radiators are all working well.

Been to the coast today , hubby had a day off so we went to Wells , the tide was on the turn and lots of little fishing boats were coming in to the harbour , we sat there a long time just watching the boats it was lovely , lots of holiday makers about too, on the quay , children were catching the crabs.
Been really windy here , when we got home our Gazebo had blown over and one of the corner fittings had broken , so it's now all in the shed !!!
Better get some thing to eat .BBL

Good news you have sold the car Jane! I bet you are cock- a- hoop! (where did that saying come from I wonder :-S) At least that news should cheer Hannah up a bit. I know here you can cancel any extra night's adverts if you sell something the first night.....worth asking them......otherwise you can put it down as your 'expenses' !! lol

Mandy the wind has been blowing like mad here too. Because we took all the gravel up, the dust was blowing in our eyes outside like a sandstorm......lots of plants blown over. What a shame about your gazebo......you'll have to get bigger 'anchors'. I bet it was nice at Wells.......that's where the sea disappears at low tide isn't it? I think we called there once and I wanted to walk out and find the sea, but OH said the tide could move quicker than me!!!

It's WDYTYA tonight isn't it.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 10 Aug 2011 19:12

Ann, the tide goes out and leaves a channel of water , you can wade through the channel and walk out to the sea , it's when the tide turns that you have to watch out as the channel fills really fast !!!!
There is a siren to warn you and plenty of warning signs as you walk on the beach , but some people take no notice and then the life boat has to go out to pick them up .

Jane Report 10 Aug 2011 19:17

Cock a Hoop !! to celebrate without restraint !!!.Just a quick google. It doesn't seem as though anyone really knows how the expression came about. All sorts of theories.
I have managed to cancel the Ad in the paper. Will be refunded in a couple of weeks.
I am now green with envy Mandy ."been to the Coast'.(there is another saying) lol.I am keeping an eye on our gazebo!!!!!!.I keep having to go and put the pegs back in place.I t looks like it could take off :-S :-S

Frank

Frank Report 10 Aug 2011 19:33

As long as you don't keep having to put YOUR legs back in place Jane. :-D :-D :-D

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 10 Aug 2011 19:36

We couldn't peg our Gazebo down as it is on the patio , so it was weighted down by some pots that hubby had filled with concrete , i covered the tops with those shiny stones they looked quite pretty , but the wind was so rough it just took off.

Hubby had to go out to see some one ,and on his way home he's just seen a Police Riot Van full of police !!! he did say it didn't seem in any hurry , but hope there's no trouble in town !!

Jane

Jane Report 10 Aug 2011 19:47

My Legs Frank!!! It's my shoulders need pegging back as I have to stretch high to get the pegs in at the top of the gazebo.I can only tiptoe so high lol
The pegs in the patio are holding out .It's the wind that catches under the canopy that is lifting the top pegs out of the framework.
I need to go and get dinner on the go (again) :-(
