Just read your post, sorry Jane it was on the page before mine came up!
As to your fennel bulbs they should be about an inch and a half across. But if they are smaller they will still taste lovely. They do need very fertile ground with lots of manure added.
I am trying Pak Chio in the tunnel.

There you are young lady. Thought you had got yourself into trouble somewhere. I hope to make plenty of Pasta sauce with the excess of tomatoes., will have to get a receipe from the web. Did a lot last year but don't remember how.
Mel, Is your new tin roof going to be all bright and shiney.??? or has it been treated.
Have picked another couple of pounds of beans, all top and tail, trimmed the back and fronts, sliced and baged, in the freezer. picked another load of tomato's. Jan will take those back tomorrow, Conrad will eat them like sweets lol. He also has two Cuecumbers and two courgettes. He won't eat runner beans, so will send them to JANE.
Hope all the JAW aches are feeling a bit better.
I see on the news that these "DO GOODERS" are saying the sentances for these YOBS is too harsh. DOUBLE IT I SAY. and no time off, Whats all this good behavour. They did the crime, now do the time !!!!

Just wanted to say HI. No internet today for hours. It has been dropping out for weeks, but going off for extended periods lately. Keith was on the phone to O**us for hours. Couldn't understand half of what they were saying, it was very comical - he was nearly ripping out his hair trying to get the instructions. It seems a lot better since ;-)
Jane I have a mouth guard and I am a born gagger, lol. You will get used to it believe me. I have really been chomping on mine lately, I can see new bite marks appearing. Not looking forward to my dentist trip, will have to leave it until after the 21st which is on the 17/9, but his actual birthday is 19/9.
Carpet man here tomorrow to re-lay some carpet in Joel's room. It was taken up in the computer area when we had the kitchen done and has been rolled up since Feb. 2010. Will be good to get it down at last. My little bomb in for rego. and service tomorrow. Praying they find nothing major wrong, last service was nearly $900. Car is 21 years old, got it when Joel was born. He drives it now, so he will be paying all the costs. Living in the real world now :-)
Frank DO GOODERS cause so much trouble over here. They would be happy with slaps on wrists for these young punks. There is so much debate going on as to what caused the riots :-S Surely action is more important than mundane words. I know you get football rioters, but this was something else. If they were poor, they would be stealing food, blankets and warm clothing, not plasma tv's and trainers. Hope to goodness it has all calmed down. Wishing Ros all the best with her test results tomorrow.
Sheila you are a good friend to go and get Beryl. You do a lot of good for your local community. Glad you didn't eat Sophia's soup!!!!! When does the family leave for New York. Little Mat will be easier to handle than April. She's really turning it on at the moment. Trip will probably do her some good, let's hope.
Hello to all I have not mentioned. Need to get some sleep. Low in energy at the moment. Take care. 11.55 pm EST

I'm not a do gooder Frank but wonder if locking these thugs up for a few months will do any good. They should have been made to clean up the destruction they caused and maybe a few boot camps might change their attitudes.
I've come to the conclusion that I haven't got green fingers after reading all your successess growing fruit and veg, haven't bothered this year as last year was such a failure.

I think there is not a lot of good sending many of these thugs to prison. They need to pay back by being put to use in the community that they so easily tore apart.Especially the younger ones. The prisons are overcrowded already with some real hard nuts. Fitz has been up for a respite from him Mum.He has now gone to take her to her appointment with her Psychiatrist .So this afternoon I have got nothing done :-S It is very still outside ,not a breath. Chicken Kievs for dinner tonight with our runners and dwarf beans, and either new potatoes or wedges.Maybe some roasted peppers too. Hopefully the cooker will be fixed sometime tomorrow.Fingers crossed it is just a simple job.
Frank a lot of my tomatoes are split.Do I keep them or chuck them? They are nearly all small cherry toms. Not sure how good they will be for making spaghetti sauce as there is not a lot of pulp.
No Fiona yet today.I hope she is alright as she has her appointment tomorrow. I'm going to have a cuppa and have a quick flick through the eve paper.

Hello Tracy Shirl how are you chuckie egg. Some thugs are in my sons prison waiting for bale and court sentencing they have come down on them heavily and Ashley said he had to take a bunch into the yard for a bit of a walk round and they seemed shell shocked so serves them right I say . I saw Birmingham after and it made me cringe how could young people cause so much havoc and upset people who just want to earn a living. Annx there is a lamp post I call the letter lamp post it has got different things on it issued by the police and the police do seem to think it may have been the women drunk causing problems and someone tried to burn her it is horrible. The police also said they found disilling equipment on that site. This lady gets so drunk she is disgusting and always seems to have dogs .I wanted to report her because she beats the one dog but my ho said do not get envolved.
Kim Jess and Ryan and April are going to new York on Saturday. I am popping down to Western Friday and spending three days with Beryl and Don and returning home with them Tuesday evening and Mats mom will bring Mat down with her friend. I have had to clean the small bedroom out it was cluttered with Aprils drawings dozens of paper and crayons and glitter all over the floor .I will sleep in there while he is here and change him in the room next to it. Michelle said please mum dont change him in the kitchen . She and Jess had a few arguments Michelle believes a kitchen is a kitchen and little bums should not be cleaned in them. Jessica used to whip his nappie off anywhere but mostly the kitchen .
Thank you for your comments Kim your a proper friend so thoughtful .I do my best and it is not easy because both Beryl and Sophia are crazy people anything goes and if I did not laugh I would scream. my ho does not like either of them he says they are lazy and he thinks I carry them around too much but life is about being helpful and Beryls a life long friend she did not have much when young and a drunk dad. I remember he used to beat her mum with a shoe. One day me and Beryl crept into the house and got the shoe and threw it on the allotment by the school. Mr W planted cabbage there and went to get some of that curly kale stuff and found it and bought it back and there it was hanging by the shoe laces on the door . We waited until he was fast asleep and took it again and buried it in the garden and no would that shoe stay put. Poe there dog brought it in and plonked it at daddie Whatmores feet. Poor mum died fairly early and then the poor kids were bought up by the eldest kids. I used to give them my clothes to wear . in fact my mums idea and it was a good excuse to get rid of something I hated. Like auntie flosses knitted beige fluffy polo neck jumper. The coller was so high it used to itch my neck. I rolled it down so far it came away from its stitches but Beryls brother Terry wore it for ages holes and all. Loved it for football outside.
Tooth ache is misrable my tooth goes off like a bomb when I eat ice cream have a cavity gone I reckon. Ice cream is banned anyway from my diet but did slip back last week and ate some serves me right
My diabetic tablet Metamorphin gives me a mettalic taste in my mouth Frank I hate it and sometimes I get a dreadful taste do not know what it is but if I eat too much sweet stuff and then take my tablet the taste makes me feel ill. I have to look at all the tins and packages its so annoying I eat fish and chips sometimes that gives it me bad.
I bet Joels room will look nice with new carpet Kim.
The two old guys from the ministry of silly walks have just gone down the road they walk everynight in skimpy tartan shorts down our road both have a peculiar walk and it always makes me laugh when in the shop. Ones called Hugo and the other is Horace. They pop in and by polo mints to suck. My ho always says watch the hole you two. I saw your question on fennel what is fennel. Is it a cream coloured veg. oh dear had better go before I make a idiot of myself like everyday garden wise wish I had a green fingers husband. My garden is neat and that it.

I think egg plants are aubergines Sheila. Has someone offered you some? Poor Beryl didn't have it easy as a child did she. I was petrified of my dad, ex army and an evil temper and heavy with his hands. He threw mum's shoes on the fire in temper when I was about age 6. I remember watching them burn in shock and crying in bed that night breaking my little heart worrying how mum would manage without her shoes. To the outside world he was a well dressed, well spoken business man.
Well the dentist had a good poke around (I think my knuckles turned white while she did it!), asked lots of questions about how it started, how long did the pain last each time etc and thinks it sounds more like an abcess. She sprayed an antiseptic below the gum around the roots (more white knuckles!) to try and flush out anything that might be causing it and I have a week's antibiotics to see if that clears it up. When I came out of the chemists with my tablets I asked OH the time. 'Tooth hurty two' he said. lol
We are just about tomatoed out too, picking every day now!! I was going to freeze a few whole, but they do tend to be quite watery when you defrost. Maybe I will cook and sieve them first. Jane, I grow the cherry types and they tend to split more if you let them get a bit dry and then give them a lot of water. The cucumbers are still coming fast too and the plant is taller than me now. Can't eat the runners fast enough!! Frank do you bother blanching your beans before you freeze them?
Maureen, it is amazing what people have in their lofts........a banjo!! Can you play it? I am off to Cornwall for a week next month. Just after I booked I read that we have had summer now!!! lol Just be nice to be somewhere different though. I've sent off for a bigger picture card for my camera anyway. lol I want some beach scenes for the bathroom wall. I'm not having bizzy lizzies next year. All but those in my front wall pots have stopped flowering and look sick. Apparently they now get a fungus that can't be treated with anything available to gardeners.
Ros must be a bit apprehensive about tomorrow Frank. I hope they have some ideas what best to do for her.

No that is quite different David and I have tried that in the past too for ulcers I think. This is a much thicker consistency and stays in place a lot longer.
Is there any chance you can get a break for a couple of days? I think when you have been doing so much to move house you can work yourself to a standstill and need a rest. Glad Ellen likes the doors. It must be getting more to her liking as things change.

When Chris cleared his parents house out ,he left an old false leg in the loft!!!!!! I was not amused. It was a really old fashioned one that his dad used to have.He lost his leg when Crane fell on him when he was working at Greenwich Docks.
Oh an abscess Ann.Nasty!.Mum suffered from those because of receding gums.I remember the agony she used to go through. Not pleasant at all.I hope the antibiotics do the trick for you. Funny how we all seem to be having teeth trouble at the moment.

Some of those young thugs should be made to spend a few weeks helping others their own age who are CARERS for a sick parent. How hard done to would they feel after seeing what other children have to deal with in life. Sharp shocks is what they need to see what the real world is about.
I think imposing strict curfews is good so they can't associate with other thugs, with stricter curfews if they break them.
I agree with you Frank.........good behaviour, they just behave long enough to work the system and get out. Some of the parents could do with BOOT CAMP too.

My little brother used to have Virol 'cause he was so skinny. He's fat & fifty now, so it must have worked. That is so a scam those people phoning you up from India offering to fix your computer. (Contrast with the BT people in India who are SOOO helpful if ever our Vison Box or Hub go wrong). Never, never type stuff into your computer that someone who has just phoned YOU asks you to do. I always tell them my computer is at the shop being mended and they go away.
