30 here now

AnninGlos Report 11 Jul 2025 16:10

it is 32 degrees here now.
I had a surprise outing this morning, well around 12 o'clock actually. Friend over the road asked if I wanted to go to Morrisons with her. As I was unable to get a slot for delivery tomorrow when I tried yesterday. And ended up with sunday I said yes so that I could get a couple of bananas and a cucumber, It was the first time I had been to that Morrisons and afterwards we went to Asda and had jacket potatoes for lunch. Last stop was Curries for an oscillating fan for my friend (£400.)

I know I am strange but it is a treat for me to see the inside of a supermarket.

Afternoon everyone

There’s no let up in the heat here but I think we are all in the same boat; it’s just as bad where you all are. Here it’s 29 degrees but feeling like 32 according to the BBC app.

We’re OK but the heat is affecting my head and my eyes. My biggest problem is that my body seems to have forgotten how to sleep. It’s getting ridiculous now OH keeps nagging me to see the doc but it seems a waste of time. All they offer are sleeping pills and they don’t work well on me. Anyway, that’s enough about my problems. Moving on….

The floors could do with a good wash or steam clean but it’s a big area and neither of us fancy it in the heat so they’re getting left for a while. I am trying to do all those niggly little jobs that keep getting put aside. I’ve just done some mending, mainly sewing on buttons, that has been sitting on a chair for ages. I spent half an hour in the garden first thing just pulling up a few weeds and deadheading but then it got too hot. We also had a 12.15 appointment at the local waste tip. OH had a lot of old wood to get rid off and we were parked at the farthest point from the wood container. It was heavy so we could only take a few bits at a time and trudging up and down the path and up and down the steep metal steps to the container was exhausting. We also got rid of a lot of non recyclable stuff and a couple of sacks of shredded paper. I don’t suppose it will be long before we manage to fill the space in the garage with more old toot.

I have read all the posts and it’s interesting to hear all that you’ve been up to but my eyes are very sore so I’m going to close the computer down for a while. Keep drinking lots and stay cool.

I bet it was nice having your feet done Mel. Do they rub cream on after? I like those minty smelling ones. The birds will have been thankful for the birdbath. I haven't a clue where my gogalongs are since my clearout earlier this year.

Mandy I was thinking I would be handwashing the same pair, but had to do a sitting, backward shuffle from the bottom of the bed. The other option was to lie across the end of the bed and roll! lol. I have some vest type tops and sleeveless ones but can't get to any of them yet. Max will appreciate a new cool bed. I wish I could find a lightweight cool pad for my bed.

It's been so hot today and felt hotter at the front of the bungalow where they were working but they have done really well and the shower is in and my cupboard and the new bigger bathroom cabinet and medical cabinet are on the walls and he's made a neat job of boxing in the water meter so we can still get to it. He's gone to pick his van up from the garage now and the flooring man has arrived carrying the biggest round fan I've ever seen! I don't blame him! I seem to have done nothing all day but make fresh ice cubes, wash glasses and cups and make drinks.

I was up about 6.30am and saw a little Wren in the garden. It's the first I've seen since the pandemic. We are thinking the Pigeons we saw building up the Magpies' nest haven't been seen today and we wonder whether they have abandonned it. We thought they may have been put off by the not so baby Magpies who still visit the tree.

I watched one of the 'Marvellous Medicine' talks last night on Arthritis and asked a question how OH could be seen more quickly than he is after waiting 4 months since diagnosis. The Rheumatologist shocked me as she said that he should get a referral letter with the results sent by his GP and that they see newly diagnosed patients within 3-4 weeks! So who is causing the delays? OH checked online today and found that the GP who said he would get a referral sent the same day had taken a week to send it. The bit of good news is that it is addressed to the same Rheumatologist who saw him privately and also works for the NHS and who was concerned he had suffered so long, so we hope he won't have to wait much longer.

So your walking on air now Mel :-D I have my shorts on and a vest top ,we've been in all morning and Max has been on his cool mat which I didn't think seemed that cool so we've ordered him a new one which should come over the weekend .

Oh Ann you can't be cut off from your knicker draw :-D not at this time of year :-D
How ever did you manage to get into bed from the end of the bed ,I'd have to sit down and shunt myself backwards I certainly couldn't kneel now like I use to .

Phew more drinks needed here .

Feet all done its only 2 miles or so down the road in Black Torrington. When I cam eback that tree that was in the road when I went to the docs the last time has only been moved to the side of the road and anyone having to go over to let big vehicles past would still hit it.

Its 28 degrees here now so I am staying indoors in the cool. I have changed into my gongalongs as they are about the coolest things I have. Meant to ut the washing machine on after my shower but forgot nd still hav'nt done it.

Hope Vera is ok and has'nt melted in the heat. <3 <3

Must take my 1 o'clock pill with a nice cool drink.

Morning All,

I thought I might have trouble sleeping last night as it was so hot but I just had the sheet and cold hot water bottle and was fine. I had a job to get into bed though as I forgot to tell the floorer to leave space at the side of the bed and he had filled the space with all the materials and his tools! Those together with 3 big tool boxes and other tools and the little sink the other side of the bed cut me off from my knicker drawer and other clothes too, so I am very mismatched in what I have on today. Once I got in bed from the bottom I managed to open the drawer a bit and grab a few pairs of pants and get some clothes I could reach. The floorer will lay the floor later today, so all his stuff should be gone for tonight.

Most of the cutting has been in our driveway AnnG and they have been wearing impressive masks doing all the cutting and the extra trimming to fit when inside. The windows and doors were open to ventilate the fine dust and I shook the covers I put over the bed and tv outside after most had settled. I also damp dusted the surfaces I could reach in the bedroom. I know about the dangers, especially of glued board like MDF as first OH worked in wood with machines. I stayed in the study with the door shut while they were doing the fitting which is finished now. They are fitting the shower cabinet now. I'm not surprised you lost some plants with the heat as some of mine look as if they are flagging despite watering. I've decided we need to create some more shade in our garden if we can. I hope you get an answer to your email quickly as it's strange they have only mentioned just one lesion as you say.

That will be nice having your feet pampered Mel. It is getting hot as you say and it looks like we will all see over 30 degrees later. Phew!

Good morning all. Already 16 degrees at 0630. I am up early as the window cleaner has let us know that he will be here around 0845.
Didn't sleep too badly although it was a very hot night.

Ann the men are getting on well with your en suite aren't they. It must be hard fro them in the heat and for you with the dust as well. Should you be wearing a mask when the dust is bad? Do they wear masks.

On Wednesday my frien's daughter gave me three Coleous that she had grown from seed. The heat was so bad when I was out yesterday that I think I may have lost two of them. Unfortunately I didn't get home in time to move them out of the heat. this gardening lark this year is so frustrating.

My main task today is to compose a letter by email to the dermatology centre. Last night I did find an email address buried in the six page letter.

They have done well Ann you'll soon be able to use it ,I bet the workers appreciated all the cool drinks with this heat

It's been 29 here and we popped over to the school to drop the fruit off to son ,we put the fruit in a couple of my cool bags i use for shopping and son put them in the car which stands in the shade.
Just watered the pots that are in the shade poor things are suffering now ,we picked a good handful of runners and so far we've had fourteen of the mini cucumbers ,theres lots of toms but no sign of any ripening yet .

I have just corned the chickens and when I went in the garage I could hear baby birds and Jenny making a racket. There are at least two chicks in there and the nest is up in the chisel rack. I had seen it in there but did'nt know she was using it.

I also like Berries and Cherries sugar free from asda and make it very weak.

Its a nice 25 degrees here now but hardly a breath of breeze.Just spied a lot of those tiny leggy spiders so I think tomorrow will be a spider sucking up session. They leave so many dead bodies on the windowsill.

Annx Report 10 Jul 2025 18:03

I must pop along to Aldi as I haven't been for a while Mandy. I will look for that drink! Yes I had a nice cuppa just now. What a great selection of fruit for the children. I bet they look forward to seeing what you get.

The men have gone now and got on really well. The boards are all up, the radiator back and higher up which is better, the shower and base are fitted, but not the cabinet and they have made a smaller box to go round the water meter. The flooring man has been and done the floor levelling and it looks like a skating rink. He's back later tomorrow to lay the floor. I've just popped to the Co-op which is nicely air conditioned and fetched more drink squashes and sugar which we don't use much of, but one likes it in his coffee!

That sounded like a good place to sit in the shade AnnG, but a bit hotter than us as it's 29 degrees here now which they forecast. Yes the plants are suffering now it's this hot. We'll be planting cacti outside at this rate.

Meeting went well, we sat out under her veranda which was in the shade and there was a slight breeze. At 5pm here it was 30;degrees. Very hot in the sun. Poor plants..
Guess what, my appointment came through for the dermatology. They talk about one lesion and there are four and the appointment is 22 January 2026. I am not sure what to make of it at the moment
