Morning Anng and all,
Nice bright morning here but when I came into the kitchen there was water dripping off the gutters so it must have rained. Its still windy too and pc says mostly cloudy and 13 degrees.
enjoy your day whatever you do Anng it will be nice to see the children and catch up with SIL.
I had three home grown strawberries after dinner last night, you can't beat the taste of homegrown.
Nothing doing today so I may have a day off of gardening, we'll see how I feel.

Good morning all. Looks dry out there but still very windy and feels chilly indoors. Slept well but not dressed yet. Not sure what the plan is today, forecast is not good. I think we might be catching up with SiL’s daughters and the little two year old. And Am er the dog of course.

Sorry had to stop there for a couple of hours. Ice to see Grandson, wife and two girls. But the trouble is they don*t have regular hours for lunch etc so by the time they left at 1.40 I was starving as was SkL and also he and daughter are going g as they always do to rugby. He was the chairman of the club for many years so they always go. I gracefully declined

Just had a really heavy shower of rain but it only lasted a few minutes and the patio has already dried up.
Thank you for your concern for OH, Mel. The doctor warned him that every eye is different so not to be worried if things aren’t the same as last time. In fact the watering has eased in the last couple of hours and he can open his eye now. We do have an emergency number to ring if necessary but, in fact, the clinic have rung to check on him and reassured him. They are very good. As for drinking water I don’t need to encourage him. He drinks gallons!
Tomorrow is his birthday but I am cooking him a birthday dinner today. He likes a roast so I’m doing roast chicken with all the trimmings and lots of veg. I gave him a choice of a few things for a dessert and he’s decided on oaty plum crumble and custard. His favourite wine and cheese and biscuits if he has room should please him
Tomorrow we have been invited round to local friends for tea and cake in the afternoon.
Better go and check on the chicken now.

Good afternoon all. We just popped out to the big store which sells all sorts of things you didn’t know you needed I just bought a pizza cutter and a tin opener. Both of which went wrong last week. (Both were quite old). I rarely need a ti. Opener so just bought a basic one.
A lot of people in there having coffee. It is sunny and cloudy no rain yet. Children just arrived.

BIL has been and gone and all he did was empty the trailer and take the old grass box over the leanto shed on the west wall then he was off again. I thought he was going to see if I could get windows 11 on my pc. He thinks it could be too old as windows 10 was put on it in 2009 so I don't know if I had it before then or not!!
Vera do you think you should contact something about oh's eye if the other one did'nt react like the last one has. It horrid when the eye keeps watering. Get him to drink some water if he's losing it through tears.
Its very windy here today but the suns outand also the sky is a bit grey and its 15 degrees and the pc is telling me to expect 4 rainy days in a row starting tomorrow. I just wonder how much rain we are going to get cos if its just showers you can work between them if its not I shall have to do HW!!!!
Annx you could just ask if the place needs some shredded paper before you dump it, they may not put the sign out if its too windy.

Morning All,
It rained quite a bit here in the night, but is just mixed cloud and sun here now and a bit breezy. OH went for a walk earlier, but not in the cow field. I might get out later to dig up a few bigger, tougher weeds, but maybe after the food drop this afternoon in case my back plays up.
I've just repacked a parcel to return which we can drop off at a Post Office that sell rather nice home made cobs next week. We need to take the big sacks of shredded paper (5 of them) to the tip next week as the place we usually take them to to use don't have a sign out requesting them at the moment and we will need the space in the garage soon.
I need to do a couple of emails and do a catlick with the hoover in the lounge and kitchen before the food arrives.
AnnG I watch the 1% Club too. I quite like Lee Mack. I often find that I can answer some of the later questions more easily than the earlier ones!
Better get lunch started now and put some washing away.

Good morning
It’s alternating sunshine and cloud here this morning. It could be a nice day but it’s very windy which is making it feel quite cold.
We haven’t made any plans for the day. I was hoping to do some gardening but I need that wind to drop a bit first. OH’s eye is a bit painful and driving him mad as it is watering non-stop. He’s getting through tissues by the bucket load, just mopping round his cheek. The last thing he needs is this cold wind blowing into his eye so he won’t be going outside today.
Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

Morning girls,
Not a bad morning at the moment the suns trying to shine and it 14 degrees. It rained yesterday afternoon which stopped me gardening which was a shame as I was getting on well cleaning the moss off the path down to my shed. The shower of rain loosen it and its easier to sweep up. Anyway I am knowing this morning that I did a lot of sweeping as my hip is playing up and also my back.
All day yesterday I thought it was Sunday and I forgot to go to the shop!! I shall have to go this morning now.

I've just done a bit of 'digging'. I have OH as my ICE number, but didn't know that if you edit it and put a dash - in front of ICE it will become first in your list of contacts, so I've changed mine now.
What started me with this was when fingerprints and facial recognition came out as I thought if someone stole your phone after taking a snap of your face with their own phone, they could perhaps access your phone to try and rob you. I also laughingly said to our solicitor recently when she was saying it was difficult with everything password protected these days, that it would be awful if people had to go to the chapel of rest to use facial recognition to get access to a relative or friend's phone to be able to sort something out! Not surprising, she did look a bit startled. Anyway I've done a bit more 'digging' now and found that a photo can't be used with an Iphone, but a 2D photo can be used to unlock some other makes of phones, some well known and expensive makes and including Samsung which mine is. Which? Labs did the tests so should be reliable. Needless to say I shall be sticking with the PIN on my phone despite facial cognition and fingerprint recognition available on it. Several of the manufacturers in response said that fingerpring technology is more secure than facial recognition.
Well at least that has led to some of us updating our ICE feature, me included!

I think you started something with your query Annx and AnnG made me think a bit more. I knew you could make a call in an emergency without having to put in a password but thought I'd better do some checking. I have fingerprint recognition on my iphone. I used the wrong finger to try to open it so that it would ask me for a password. I then pressed on emergency and it came up with a keypad for me to make a call but no ICE number, so all anyone else could have done was dial 999. I investigated further by going into ICE in my contacts where I had OH's mobile and our home number. I put them in several years ago and whether I got distracted part way through or whether I just didn't realise I hadn't completed the process but I hadn't marked up which one was to show as an emergency number so neither was showing. I've updated it now and anyone pressing that emergency button will also come up with OH's mobile number.
So thank you Annx. Your question has helped AnnG and me to update our systems.

If the phone goes to request password the word emergency is on the bottom of the screen pressing that takes you to the emergency contacts. So thanks for asking as I had not changed from having Tony as contact. Changed it now . Mine is an Iphone

I have facial recognition on my IPhone. I don’t know the answer re the photo. I would think it was not possible. I do know if there is the slightest doubt mine goes to a password request. I am a. OST sure that emergency services can retrieve your ICA numbers bypassing and passirds.

We used to see bullfinches at our old house and they are so attractive but I haven’t seen any in this area and we’ve lived here nearly 12 years.
I hope you are all enjoying your day and the weather is good for you. It hasn’t been nearly as bad here as the forecast made it sound. It rained heavily overnight and early this morning but by the time we went out at 9.30 it was just light rain. Shortly after we arrived at the clinic it stopped, so when OH was called in I went for a walk. It was quite warm and very humid but I wandered about. It’s not really an area for walking but the main road I went down was quite pleasant, lined with trees and wide grass verges. I don’t know the area so it was interesting being all new to me. I stayed out about an hour and then went back to the clinic. I got myself a cup of tea from their machine and watched an episode of Dragons Den while I waited for OH. The television is on all the time in the waiting room but the sound is off and subtitles turned on so it’s not obtrusive and you can hear your name called. OH was nearly 2 hours this time. We got back a few minutes after 1 pm. All seems to be well, though OH said his eye is much more sore than the other one was. He has to contact his optician in 4-6 weeks to see about new glasses. He will almost certainly need reading ones.
I am very tired and “heady” at the moment but I think that’s because it’s so humid. It always feels as though the sky is weighing down on my head when it’s like this. I think OH is having a doze so I might have a quiet few minutes on the bed with my book.
EDIT Sorry Annx. I missed you there. That’s an interesting point about facial or fingerprint recognition. I don’t know the answer but I wouldn’t think you could get in by using a photo. Another point to think about: if you have fingerprint or password protection how could anyone else get into your phone to find your ICE numbers if, say, you are involved in an accident?

I remember being a bit twitchy about getting windows 11, but never had any problems with it so I hope your PC will be ok for your BIL to download it Mel.
Vera I'm not very good with IT and OH is the same so it's often trial and error. We used word and customised softwear for our jobs in the mid 90s, but there were IT specialists to sort any problems. When I first had this PC I couldn't even find where to switch it off!! As is usual these days, actions are hidden in layers of menus and we don't have an instruction book nowadays. It's the same with my mobile as I'm sure it can do clever things that I have no idea about. Now that thought has led to something that others may know and can tell me. If you use facial recognition or fingerprint recognition on a PC or mobile, if someone took a photo of your face or finger and flipped the photo horizontally, would your phone or PC let them unlock your PC or phone using the photos held to the screen?? I imagine it shouldn't be able to but could it?
OH had his physio session this morning and is watching sport on tv now the footie season has ended. We went in his car to the shop and it seems as if they may have fixed the aircon after all as we tested it and it was certainly better.
My car window has dropped about a quarter of an inch at the moment, so not too noticeable yet. If it rains I could tape the gap over, but don't want to draw attention to there being something wrong with it.
We had a bit of rain in the night and I pulled a few more weeds up this morning. I need to spend a bit longer out there though or they will still overtake me.
Those Bullfinches are so pretty AnnG and I haven't seen one for years. We just have the Magpies to watch and the parents are looking quite thin and bedraggled now with providing for their brood.
I hope you didn't have too long a wait for your OH Vera and that you are settled back at home now.
It will be 3 days before anything gets fitted Mandy as the walls may need some plaster after the tiles are fetched off and the floor has to be screeded and left a couple of days before things are fitted on top of it. Our rooms aren't big but the lounge has a dining area so we can push the furniture around to make a good space. The furniture's easy to move on the hard floors as I put felt pads on the legs of things.

Iv'e come in and am going to get something to eat and see if it stops.
I get the bullfinches in the orchard Anng and the males are really colourful and bright. I'm always careful with my fires oh always said don't leave it burning on its own stay with it till it dies down which is what I did.
