Your £1.50 covers whatever they have:

You can use this service to:
search for a probate record in England and Wales
check if probate has been issued
check the type of probate issued
order a copy of a probate record (including a will, if there is one)
Each copy of a probate record ordered online (or by post) costs £1.50.

Not all probate records contain a will. Check the type of grant of representation when you search.
The grant types that contain a will include:
‘Probate’ or ‘Grant and Will’
‘Admon with Will’ or ‘Grant and Will’
‘Administration (Admon) or Grant’ does not contain a will.

'Probate records are those records and files kept by a probate court. The word probate comes from Latin and means "to prove," in this case to prove in court the authenticity of a last will and testament of someone who has died. In the absence of a will, inheritance laws have provided for the passing on of property, belongings, and assets.'

The post says probate records. Not Wills.
Hence my question

WOW! Thanks for that. Wish I'd known that two weeks ago when I ordered three :-(

I'll be spreading this around !

Not sure what you mean Erika. The £1.50 is for Wills (where a will was made). Probate just confirms the validity of the Will

Of how much value is a Probate record - compared with a copy of the Will?

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here but this might be of interest to some:

"The cost of ordering post-1857 probate records via the government’s Find a Will service has been cut from £10 to just £1.50.

The price cut, which was introduced in a statutory instrument that became law on 22 July, will be in place for the next 12 months."
