Hi for some reason I appear to have duplicated some ancestors. Each parent has a copy however:
1. You cant click into one of them that shows (C - for copy) to delete or edit it
2. On the second (which must be the original) when you try to delete it it says
"You can't delete Mary ??? because she has a parent and children with at least one spouse. Deleting Mary would detach some of these relatives from your tree."

How can I resolve this please?

Thanks,
Rich

Richard if no one posts with advice, then it's probably better to contact support, [email protected]

I had that same problem a while ago - i.e. - unintended copies of records, marked C.

I emailed the address Rambling has given you, and they very quickly sorted it out for me.

As regards deleting "Mary" -
I assume you don't really want to delete Mary, but are just trying to get rid of one of the unwanted copies.

However, if you do actually want to delete Mary (once the copy problem has been sorted out) -
it is the case that you can't delete someone if they are the person linking others (spouses, children, etc) to the rest of the tree. As the message says, if you did delete Mary, the spouse or children would then be detached from the tree.

Unfortunately, the only way to deal with that is to delete the spouse and/or children first, and then to delete Mary.

But that's not what you want to do, anyway!

Emailing GR support will fix the copy problem for you.

They are not duplicated just displayed twice. That. Is done in order to avoid too many connecting lines on your tree.
