Hi, my grandmother took on my uncle when he was born, but it was through adoption, my uncles mother just gave him to my grandmother. My grandmother kept his name even his mothers surname and growing up he always knew. When he passed away his sons ask if I could help and try and find his mother but that’s when it got hard. I know his mothers name where she worked at the time but I can’t find anything about her at all. Any ideas on where to look or how to find any detail would be great, thank you

If his name wasn’t changed then his birth certificate will give his mums name

Andrew knows the mother's name according to his post. Look to see if you can find a marriage for her name in the area where she worked. You could also look at electoral registers to see if you can find her. Did she have any contact with him after handing him to your grandmother?

You know his mums name but what I was suggesting is locating her with her family to see if she had any siblings

Plus presume grandparents have passed so locating their deaths may help with who the informants were etc

You may have to go around in circles to narrow down the search

Hi, the details I have are ( sorry about the misunderstanding I’m Andrews wife Paula and it’s me who’s doing the tree now as Andrew is no longer with his)

George Robert Prouse 1931-1988 (he was known as Robert Storey Prouseto anyone that new him, he died in Victoria Canada)
His mothers name was
Louise Prouse She worked at red house farm Whitley Bay Northumberland (it’s now Tyne and Wear)
I know he was married and Divorced in this country and had 2 girls. I do know his first wife was taken and stay for a period of time in Morpeth mental hospital
He then went to Canada where he married and had 2 boys it’s his boys that want to know about their dad and sisters if possible)
This is the only information I have

He was living with Robert Storey and wife Caroline in 1939 and is an open record

However both Robert and Caroline were born 1907 so can’t have been grandparents of Louisa Prouse

Thank you for all help, I will look into what has been added. It’s been the hardest part of the family tree as I’ve managed with everything apart from this ( my uncle Robert). With all the family no longer being with us I’ve had nobody to ask and only having a few details. Even finding details of his first wife and daughters was hard with not having details and not remembering them.

Thank you all so much, I have emailed some of the details to my uncle Robert Prouse to his oldest son of his 2nd marriage and he’s going to talk to his brother about it but as ask my to say thank you from them. They live in Canada so finding anything is hard as they didn’t know anything.
