Thanks for trying, Toni, I think that she just doesn't want to be found! At least I have Elizabeth, thanks to a relative on this site, in 1881 and her daughter from 1861. I have come to the conclusion that the Stowells just don't like Censuses! Lynn : -( |

Sorry Jess, that was a typo. As far as I am aware, there were only the 2 children, Samuel James and Catherine. Lynn |

Hi, my Stowell family don't seem to like being found on the censuses, the men only appear when at scholl and the wives only when they are widows! I am looking for Elizabeth Stowell, nee Jenkins. She married Samuel Stowell in Lambeth 14/5/1832 had a son Samuel James and then went to Canada with her husband, in the Coldstream Guards, leaving Samuel James at school in Chelsea. They had a daughter Catherine out there in 1838 and returned to England in 1842, where Samuel died in 1848. At that time Elizabeth appears to have been living at 16 Grey Coat Street, Rochester Way, Westminster. However, I have been unable to trace her and her daughter on the 1851.. Catherine married in 1858 in paddington and appears on the 1861 census with her husband William Timms in Battersea. Elizabeth only reappears in 1881, with her daughter's family, although she is mistranscribed as Howell, she is still listed as a widow, so it doesn't appear that she remarried. So I am looking for Elizabeth Stowell c1810 Cardigan Town Wales and Catherin Stowell 1838 Canada/Westminster/ Lambeth. Please can someone help me? Lynn : - ) |
