I am sure this is likely here a few times but I just wanted to make sure the information was up to date I need birth certs for both my grandparents Can I order this online, if so where from? How long does it take? Is it faster to order from the local register office? Thanks in advance

As long as you have all the GRO refs, you can order on line from www.gro.gov.uk Make sure you tick the box where it asks if GRO refs are known.............each cert will cost £7.00 Reg

I would check with the local office first.....some don't do family history, some do but are slow and some do and are quick!! If you need the GRO you can order online here: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificate/index.asp#0 Merry

Can you specify a checking point (e.g. father must be Fred Bloggs) if you apply online?

Mary, yes you can but you lose £3 if its not the right one.

which is cheaper than paying £7 and getting the wrong cert! All the info you want to know is on the GRO site. nell

OK, found it now, thanks. The information doesn't appear until after you start filling in the online form - I was looking for it before getting to that stage.
