LDS and downloading

Ho hum....well it's a long time since I clicked that download thingy........ I think (!!) you tick the entries you would like to review (say you are looking at a list of baptisms for Frederick Smith and you want to look carefully at all the ones who are Frederick William Smith.....so you tick all the onces with the middle name.) Then when you download the files, you get a gedcom (? I think....) of those entries you have ticked. I used to use it when I was on dial up, pay-per-minute connection! Merry

Following Annie M's thread about downloading from the LDS, I wondered if anyone could help me. If you download it do you get a copy of the parich record or what do you get?********************* Sorry if I sound stupid.
