I think the marriage I found in 1860 will be his marriage to Ellen. It's just that without her maiden name, I can't cross-reference it, as it's not yet on FreeBMD. Merry |

Many thanks Suzanna Yes that is my Robert in 1871 Merry ..never thought about sending for one of the children's birth certs to find Ellen's maiden name. Heather thank you so much this would account for not finding Jane on census's now to find his marriage to Ellen. There is always someone on this site to help ....Thanks again. Val |

I recently went to the FRC and ordered some certs, one for my 3xgreat grandparents is not what i thought. On the 1871 census Robert Powney is down as wife Ellen i got what i thought was his marriage cert but his wife is a Jane Mary Ann Saker in 1846.. When i look on the 1871 census Ellen would have been too young to marry Robert in 1846,but i cannot find another marriage I am confused. Val . |
