I know it's a ppv site. I am trying to find a birth 1910-1918,a marriage between the two dates and need a 1901 census lookup, maybe 2. Does anyone know how many credits i am likely to need?I don't want to end up with heaps i don't need, but have no idea how many i am likely to want. The birth could be a fairly common name, but the bride for the marriage is a relatively uncommon one. Glen

Glen, Births on SP only go up to 1905., so no luck with the births. You can do a freesearch on SP before you waste money buying credits. By just entering both surnames and years 1910-1918 this will give you the number of hits, if not try widening your search years. If it's a fairly commom surname, knowing the district would help , but you can also try the freesearch here too. (1901 census) £6 for 30 credits, 1 credit to see searches and 5 to download image, if you use the freesearch carefully, you can do it no bother. Liz

Thanks Liz I did wonder about the birth, the young chap is a real mystery, his older halfsister (born in England and illegitimate) is still alive but she can't be sure exactly when he was born. The bride was Agnes Yule, groom John Thomson,i know for the census that there are 2300ish hits for the name of Yule,Quite a few more for thomson(a lot lot more!!!) I think i have the death details for Agnes, and after she died the hubby and son remained in Scotland, the girl was sent packing back to rellies in England. Thanks again Glen

Hi Glen, Well the marriage is there. Just did a freesearch for John Thomson and Agnes Yule. Married in 1915 Edinburgh City. You will get their parent's names from the marriage cert. which should help in narrowing them down in the 1901 census. Liz

Thanks Liz,i didn't get that when i tried. I'm working on this little 'offshoot' for the g /grandaughter of Agnes,. If i have the right Agnes in thr 1891 census (and her b/cert is on the way) i have her family back to her gg/p born around 1810,but then the shock of the 1910-1918 (now more likely to be 1915ish birth was thrown at me) The death details are for Edinburgh, informant John Thomson (husband/widow) so everything looks highly likely. Thanks again. Glen
