Long Lost Sisters meet in Supermarket

OC - Hope this goes someway towards an explanation! Apparently the older children were placed in foster care when their mother went to work in an ammunitions factory during the war. Their father went missing in action and was presumed dead. After the war the mother began a relationship with a radio presenter and had her youngest daughter (the other children not returning home). 30 years later a brief meeting took place when the eldest daughter made contact through an agency but contact was lost again. The mother died 20 years ago and her second husband 3 years ago. The connection was made because the older sister had pictures of the younger one and the younger one is the spitting image of her mother. The meeting was pure co-incidence and it was instant recognition. Snowdrops

Daily Mail Tuesday 2 May 2006 Page 7 ‘Two sisters who never knew each other have been united after they met by chance in a supermarket. Maureen Smith, 54, stopped in her tracks when she saw a woman shopping in the same aisle who was the spitting image of her mother. She called out to her and the next minute the pair were embracing and shedding tears of joy, it was her sister Janet Cushion, 68. The women had been living in the same city, Norwich, just a few miles apart for years without realizing. Mrs Cushion was placed in foster care with two brothers during the Second World War. Her sister was born a few years after the war to a different father.’ Nice story Snowdrops
