Think I've worked out which Thomas Smith from London is mine (!!!!!!!!!!!), however his father has disappeared and his mum re-married - either to a man who already had kids of his own and his wife died, or they were not very secretly having an affair ? Anyway, pleas could somebody check out the 1861 census for the family below (in a sec) with a view to answering two questions......

Question 2 - If they were with their mum and dad, who was with Edward Chipperfield as he had some kids born at the same time as they were (so were he and Myra separately widowed and then married each other bringing both sets of kids together) ? Thanks for your help.

Blimey Linda, that's the fourth surname he's using !!!! Ok he was only 8, but still.... Thanks for finding them. As usual I now have more questions than I started with :-) Wonder where little sister has disappeared to? Mind you, at least that narrows down when their father vanished from 1856 to 1861. However, Myra and Edward didn't even marry until 1866.....

Linda, ooops you beat me. Yes I'd found that marriage before which is why I wasn't sure who Myra was with in 1861...... And I thought the Victorians were all prim and proper!
