Can anyone tell me how I can find out the address where my husband grandparents lived in Richmond, North Yorkshire in 1930/40's. Betty

There should be directories of various sorts. Have you tried the Records Office at Northallerton?

Would there be any death certificate with their address on? Kate.

Hi Grampa Jim, No I haven't tried anywhere because I didn't know where to go. The last time I was at Richmond (which was some time ago) they had a registry office there. It has now closed and I didn't know which registry office would deal with address of people from Richmond. I have them in the various census and years of birth of children etc. but no address. Betty

Hi again Kate, I got the marriage certificates but not the death certificates. If I got these would the address be on it then. Betty

Yes, they should have the address on them, unless you are very unlucky. The ones I have from the 1940's to 1960's where the person died in hospital helpfully have their home address in the 'occupation' column. Kate.
