It was Penzance in Cornwall. The St Ives Archive Centre advised me to go to them, and I'm so glad I did. Waiting patiently isn't my strong point :). Have been able to add 3 names to my tree, and cleared up a family myth in the process. Now I just have to find out why one couple got married in a registry office by special license... mmm... Don't you just love all this :) |

I notice the word ''local'' in that eulogy. I take it you applied to the local Office for the cert and not GRO? GRO works very hard but does tend to get snowed under for a number of weeks (months?) after a bout or WDYTYA on BBC! Most of the local offices are very helpful - and quick - but (I have read here) there are some who won't do family tree certs, and a few who take forever to send certs. My own experience of them has always been very good. Christine |

I sent off an order, by post, for my first set of birth and marriage certificates on Wednesay this week. They came this morning! How quick was that?! They didnt even wait for the cheque to clear before sending them. I was sooo excited, jumping up and down shouting yes yes yes! My husband thought I'd either gone mad or won the lottery, lol. Thank you local registry office, you are all stars :) Soz, I know I'm very sad, but just had to share this with everyone. Bex |
