Caroline, for some stupid reason GR removes all formatting in your initial posting at the top of your thread, so if you want your request to be formatted, then as Heather says, just say 'see below' in the top box and then add your formatted request as a reply to your own thread! Kate. |

6b 1981 is the ref for that Cooke/Lord marriage cert in that Addie appears to be her proper name ( not Adelaide as i suspected ), i'd go for the birth cert, which will tell you MMn as well |

Birth Short certificate Details contained on a short version of a birth certificate include the baby's names and surname, sex, date of birth and the name of the registration district and sub-district where the birth took place. Full certificate Details contained on a full birth certificate include all the above plus * exact place of birth * father's name (if given at time of registration), place of birth and occupation * mother's name, place of birth, maiden surname and, after 1984, occupation Please note: registrations made before 1969 do not include details of the parents' place of birth and mother's occupation. |

Head spinning a bit from all that (tip - if you have a lot to put on the board in the first box just put see below as GR jumbles it all up without paragraphing). Anyway Marriage certs will give bride and groom names and occupations and hopefully ages, where they were living at time of marriage, both their fathers names and occupations. Witnesses names which are sometimes handy. Birth certs give place of birth, name of child, sex, mothers name and maiden name, fathers name and occupation. Hope that answers the question. |

Hi, I looking at ordering one or more certificates could someone tell me what information I would find on Birth and Marriage certificates in the UK please. I'm in Australia and my birth certificate shows my parents names, date of births, where they were born and occupation, mums maiden name, my siblings and their ages plus my details of course :-) My marriage certificate shows my maiden name, my partners name and the names of 2 people in our bridal party do Uk birth certificates from 1920 show this much information? And marriage certificates as little as mine does? Not sure if certificates vary from one area to another this is what I have, My grandfather Andrew Robinson Lord married Addie Cooke, 3 quarter 1939 Wolverhampton district, a helpful person on here just found the details to order a marriage certificate, Addie was born 1920 in Sutton Coldfield and Andrew 1920 in Rochdale Lancashire. I know Addie's fathers name and her mothers maiden name (from a birth search), A relative gave me the name Harry Lord and Jennie possibly Robinson (from doing a birth search) I know I would probably need to get certificates to check the information is correct but do I need both birth certificates and marriage certificate? I'm looking for details on Addie and Andrew's parents Thanks Caroline |
