the Shropshire Parish Registers but I dont understand Latin - help! Mensis Septembris Mensis Aprilis County: Shropshire Country: England Sepult. Jana servus Thome Stedman 07 Apr 1588 My Latin is virtually non-existent, but mensis Septembris and mensis Aprilis I imagine are the months of September and April. (Menses was a term for monthies, or periods). Jana is probably a Latin version of Jane. Which register was this in, births, marriages or deaths?

sepult I imagine is something to do with sepulchres, or burials/graves/tombs. Servis might be servant.

It's a burial. Joan - of Thomas. Presumably servant, though I'd have thought that word would have had a female form ie serva.
