I wondered if soldiers who died in service were listed somewhere different than the county registers. I have a soldier who must have died between 1853 and 1860. I know his wife remarried in 1860 and was a widow at that time. I can't find the death of her hubby anywhere! So I'm presuming he died in another country. Any ideas as to where to look for him? Thankyou, Sue

There are some overseas records on 1837online. Reg

one other thought -he might not have died - have you tried finding him later on? His 'widow' may have pretended he was dead to remarry. Alternatively he may have been missing and presumed dead after a decent interval. nell

Thanks Reggie and Helen I'll try both your ideas, never thought of him maybe not being dead at the time! Thanks again, Sue
