When did it come into being? Can you look back on old ones? Vanessa

Vanessa There's info on electoral rolls/registers on the GR site. 1. Go to the homepage 2. scroll down till you find 'getting started' 3. Click on that and you will see various sections, including one on directories/electoral rolls. Remember that until 1918 women did not have the vote; full adult suffrage only happened 1928. The earlier back you go the fewer people had the vote. Electoral rolls are arranged by ward and then alphabetically by street. If you don't have at least a street name its a long process to find it. Rolls will just give the names of electors and possibly info about their qualification for voting. It won't give relationships or occupations. They are kept in records offices/local history centres/larger libraries. I've found some in bound volumes and others that are disintegrating. I believe some have been microfilmed. Historical rolls are not online. nell
