Does anyone know what rank a 'trimmer' would be? My grandma's uncle John Edward Barley was one, killed during the 1st World War. I have tried to google it, but only got a list of hedge and grass trimmers! I couldn't even find it on Wikipedia! Anyone any ideas? Many thanks Lynn : ) |

If you search on Google for ...Old Occupations there are several sites. This is from one:- Trimmer 1) Ship's crewman who trimmed coal in ship's bunkers 2) Dockworker who trimmed grain or bulk cargo in ship's hold to spread it out evenly |
