Janet 693215 Report 21 Apr 2006 23:35

As usual my lot are proving to be as elusive as ever so I started looking for people over 100 on the 1841. Take a look at John Laws Ag. Lab. 110 years and his wife Margaret 95 years. HO 107/ 299 12/ 16. I wonder if anyone on here has them in their tree?

I suppose it is possible I found a relative of mine died age 104 which I thought was amazing for those times and it was true as far as the cert said, unless of course it was all another lie, they seemed to be good at them didnt they ???

I wouldn't have believed it if it hadn't been for the enumerators comment on the wifes age 'should read 95' I thought I was going well when I found my ggran dying at age 93 in 1949. (I'd trawled through the beta images on ancestry from the last year I knew she was alive, 1905. It took a day!)

Victoria Report 22 Apr 2006 02:12

My 5xGt grandparents death certificates (and the headstone in Perranzabuloe Churchyard) claim them both to be 100 when they died. If my research is right though, they were both 94! Still, in the days when no one celebrated birthdays 'close enough'! On the other hand I have another rellie who aged only 1 year between census' while her cohabiting daughter aged 10! All of which makes my 'fridge magnet that says 'How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?' make perfect sense. Victoria
