Hi Donna Just because nobody else on the Tips Board seems to be going, don't be put off. I adore this event. I've been to it every single year since it started and wouldn't miss it for the world. Look at the SOG's website, to find out what stall holders will be there. If the site itself doesn't have links to the individual family history societies, go to http://www.ffhs.org.uk/ and find the details there. Then you can look to see if they have a publications list, to get an idea of whether you might want to buy anything from them. There will be stalls for individual family history societies, commercial concerns like Ancestry, second hand books, family history supplies. London record offices will be represented. You can buy things, chat to experts, go to lectures, make friends. I will be on the East Surrey FHS stall for most of the day, but if you have a look on the General Board, I think a whole group will be meeting up there and possibly going off for a drink afterwards. They are a very friendly lot, and would welcome anyone who'd like to say hello. One warning. You may want to leave your plastic behind: it's very easy to spend a lot of money!

Hi, I am very new at this family tree business and noticed that this show is on at the end of the month and wondered if it is worth going to. Anyone been before? Will it be helpful for a complete beginner? Many Thanks, Donna.x
