I was just wondering, if a child was adopted at say 2+ years old would they keep the same birth name and just change the surname or would their birth name always be changed to another completly new name?? Thanks Rosi |

Hi, I adopted a boy 26 years ago. His name was David as was my own son 5 years older. We changed his name by calling him David ? and then gradually dropping the David. It worked a treat. Hope this helps. Jackie |

First name : easiest answer is , who knows? maybe, maybe not ! Adoptive parents will have been at complete liberty to do so, but may have chosen not to. Surname will have changed for sure. Not very helpful! Jess |

As Jess says the parents might change the christian name, but then again they might not.It is a completely free choice for the adoptive parents to make. Glen |

Thank you all for your answers....I was just thinking that it must be confusing for the child to get used to one name then have it changed a few years later. Rosi |
