Family tradition, says that our family were at one time salt merchants in the city of London. (If it is true it will be the only traditiion that is. ) I have traced the family back to a Richard Sherriff or Shirreffe born about 1798, who was a musician. His children were born in the Westminster and Bloomsbury area. I know there was a Salters Company in the City. If so are they still in existence, and if so would they have records that are accessible? David |
