Hi Richard, After the 898 I've got 7 digits which after scrolling through White Pages seems 1 too many. Oh where too now? 91yr old hubby's grandmother can remember that 1 of the 2 'unknown' girls had 2 girls herself, but unfortunately once again it's only first names-so no help there (yet!) Maybe I'll go back to Granny & White Pages to see what I can find out this time. Appreciate your comments Thanks...Zoe |

Hi Georgina, Thanks for your suggestion. I did think about it, as I actually live in NZ but I came unstuck when I realised I had 1 too many digits, & also WHO would I ask to speak to?! It's really frustrating. Perhaps I need to try & track down the immigration record (somehow!) into OZ which will give the mother's name that I know as well as the girls names. Only problem is I have no idea when it was, except after 1901 as the mother was on the census as a 16yr old. Thanks once again. Regards...Zoe |

The area codes and number of digits changed a few years back. All WA phone numbers now have the area code 08, followed by 8 digits of the number. How many digits do you have after the 898? If there are 6 digits, the number should still be valid - i.e. +61 (ISD code for Aus) and then 8 98XX XXXX. Richard |

Hi Jan, Thanks for responding. I tried white pages & ended up with 383 choices for metropolitan & 301 for the other choice-what's the difference. I also seem to have an extra digit somehow. I was rather daunted by the 16 pages & only got as far as page 3 before giving up after realising that I'd got 1 too many digits. Perhaps I need to just show some patience & scroll through the whole lot trying to match an 'almost' match! Thanks...Zoe |

I've been given a phone number which I think is from Albany, W.A (it has 898 as the area code). It is the only clue I have to trying to track down 2 illegimate girls that emmigrated with their mother from Sussex, England to somewhere in W.A. My hubby's 91yr old grandmother can't remember the names of the 2 girls but dragged the number from her incredibly old address book on a scrap of paper. I think I know the husband's surname of 1 of the girl's but that is all. I don't have any other details Having failed to find the 2 girls names in the UK. How can I tell what the name & address the phone number relates to? Any help would be greatly appreciated with my brick wall. Thanks...Zoe |
