Has anyboday had any experience of the above RO? Have jyst found a marriage of two of my people in the Dec Qtr. 1837 (lucky or what?) and was wondering whether to go through the GRO or whether I could go through the Asbhy De La Zouch office?

You can order from local register offices. It costs the same and they don't need the GRO refs. The main difference is that local offices sometimes write out a copy specifically for your order, whereas the GRO will send a photocopy of a contemporary copy. nell

Thanks Nell - I knew that as I use Wakefield quite a lot - was just wondering if anyon knew if you got a copy of the original from ADLZouch or whether they did write it out.

Have just looked at the website - they want to know where the marriage took place - all I know is that it was registered in Ashby D L Zouch - will that do? From the website: Information Required Full names and surname at marriage (maiden surname for bride) Date of marriage Place of marriage i.e. name of church or registered building and address

Hi Tom It might be worth giving them a ring or drop them an e-mail,i had a couple of marriage certs from Lincoln without knowing the place, but really they do specify that they must know. You could also ask if you get the 'original' entry photocopied (as per your favourite Wakefield) or whether they type or handwrite the cert from the original (as do Berwick and Dereham) Lincoln just for reference should you ever need them photocopy the original,so you get the all important signature or mark of your rellies. I must have have been dreaming because i thought i started a thread to list local RO and put whether they photocopy originals or not,and now i can't find it. Now started another one or a new one, depending on whether i did dream it the 'first' time Glen
