Helen Little Nell Thanks for replyingI have checked Scotlandspeople website for marriages up to 1930 and searched quite a lot but not all of the quarters in the 1917-1920's on Ancestry. The problem is that the surname Bell is so common I have not checked the death indexes as I am not sure whether or not they all came to England. My mothers birth and baptism certificates showed her parents as Annie Desoyxa formerly Bell, father Norbert De Soyxa. I have been unable to trace a marriage for them. They were living in Edinburgh in 1928, but my mother was born at her grandmother's address in the Newcastle area on 31/8/1928

Where have you looked for marriages? Unless you've been through every quarter of every year in the GRO marriage indexes and the equivalent in Scotland, you can't assume they didn't marry. Have you checked for deaths?

Have come to a dead end in searching for my grandma Annie Mckenzie Moreland Bell b.5/10/1908and her siblings Jeanie, Margaret, Mary and James born in Carriden, Bo'ness,Scotland between 1897 and 1903. Annie was living in the Newcastle area by 1911 Can't find marriages for any of them in either England or Scotland Their mother was Mary Mckenzie Bell father Samuel Moreland Bell. Mary left Samuel Bell between 1908 and 1911 and had new partner Thomas Aitken Brown who she later married My mum was in childrens home and foster care from age of 4. Can anyone help me find out what happened to her mother Anne!!
