Navy deserter!

If someone jumped ship, then later returned to the uk working their passage as crew, when they tried to leave the ship in the uk would they have been arrested as a deserter? I'm talking about 1960. Anyone any ideas??? |

Well I,m assuming they had their passport in their right name,so if the was no record at the port of entry of deserters or people to look out for.then logically i would think that they would just show their passport & be passed thro customs. Only an observation tho. Shirley |

Yes, as he was RN he would be subject to arrest by the Navy or by the police acting on their behalf, and subject to Court Martial. Regards Keith |
