Hi, The only certificated record of my ancestor Thomas Stockley is his death cert. I have checked FMBD and others and they all come back with the location of his cert being... Name: Thomas Stockley Year of Registration: 1838 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Epsom County: Surrey Volume: 4 Page: * (click to see others on page) Any clues as how I find out what page its really on, so i can order a copy?

Maybe you could order direct from the Epsom office as you know name, year and quarter. Local offices don't use the GRO numbers to find a cert.

ack! thats what people mean by beta version *shuffle* well you learn something every day - .... and promptly forget it after sleeping.. Thanks for that - will take a closer look at ancestry ... am a full member so should be able to find it. Cert is ordered! Thank you again!

Hi Gwyneth I didnt realise you could order from the local office just by putting the quarter and the year, would it take longer than the GRO

Usually quicker in my experience. Not good for marriages unless you know the parish as they are not surname indexed. Some local offices are not keen on all the extra work they have to do because of genealogy. Best check the policy at the office you are interested in. Most are happy to send certificates.
